We were served and seated quickly and offered a supplementary vegan or gluten free menu which I thought was very convenient. There was an excellent variety on the menus and I thought the prices were very worth it as the food and drink was delicious. The music and ambience was lovely. Both visits were on a Sunday during lunch and the food preparation was perfect. The Big Lounge salad boasts a delightful variety of flavors and textures. I really like the tarragon mustard seed vinaigrette as it brings a level of brightness to the vegetables and blends well with the creamy ripe avocado chunks. This past Sunday, I ordered the Sherbet Lemonade. At 2 quid something a glass, this beverage is spectacular and definitely worth the price tag. Think of it as dessert or nice virgin cocktail. The playful presentation and summery sweetness make it hard not to gulp the whole glass before the meal arrives. I really dig the decor in this place. It feels somewhat like a vintage 70s art lounge, with groovy wallpaper and large framed paintings covering the full length of the main wall. There is ample seating and comfortable chairs. Seating arrangements are nicely spaced to create privacy and patrons are welcomed to stay for an afternoon with board games and a mini-library. The lighting features are custom crafted from salvaged naval lanterns and the wall of windows facing the road provide a not-too-bright sunlit glow. This is a new go-to place for us!

I've not made it to Africa, though have traveled widely in Asia, and the outside felt totally authentic, being similar to bars and restaurants I've eaten in abroad. Even outside, you are sheltered from the rain, and inside, where the buffet is served, it's warm and cosy, with live music of an evening, and the most amazing spread of food. I've been a number of times since that first dinner, having returned in the day with my dog, as it's dog friendly if you're happy to sit outside - they even bring a bowl of water for our four legged friends! I've had lunch there, and the most fabulous afternoon cream tea, and cake, whilst the choice is limited, what they offer is very tasty (and I'm a fan of cake!) I loved it that much the first night, that I've refused to go there for a meal again, as I'm going for my 40th, which happens to fall on a Thursday, and looking forward to sharing the experience with close friends. The service is always friendly. It's not always super fast, as it runs on Kenyan time, so this isn't the place to go in a rush. Indeed, why would you? Menus given to us and we were left alone to decide. The menu is limited, that's not necessary a bad thing. What was on offer can be a risky however, they have to be cooked to perfection to pull them off. We had a few questions about some of the mains and drinks. The reply from the waitress was "I have no idea", she fetched another waitress to help, and the reply was "I don't know". We just wanted to know what the mains are served with, as my friend cannot eat eggs; our other question was what was in a cocktail on the menu. Once we ordered service was prompt. Before our order cam we had a complimentary starter. Unfortunately it wasn't cooked well, so decided it may be the chef trying something out so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. We went for 24 hour slow cooked pork for our main. The slow cooked pork was tough, and different cuts of pork served with it were cooked within an inch of its life. The venue and atmosphere is lovely and clean. Staff very friendly. If they can work on staff knowledge, iron out a few problems with the food, they are on to a winner. Phone signal was poor so wi-fi would be helpful. Also, for the price I'd like a few other services such as coat checking, better chairs and tables.

Beautiful surroundings and all round lovely vibes. My only complaint was the waitress seemed very stressed and forgetful and the service was sooooo slow. I went back in for a packet of pork scratchings to take home but four people waiting and no one manning the bar I gave up after 5 minutes lol. Need more staff or better trained ones!
