Let's get the negatives out of the way- It needs a polish, a few more seats, and a good scrub, because it smells a bit like old spilled drinks. And as cute as the menu is, you have to spend a long time reading it to know what on earth you're getting, particularly when it's mood lit too. But, I can't actually mark them down for any of that. Love the wallpaper, love the drinks names, love that they're happy to have you order off menu- they have the knowledge and the ingredients to do it. In our lot, we had parlour maids (dangerously unalcoholic tasting milkshakeyness), lord byron, sick of celibacy (raspberry and lemon, not too sweet), old fashioned, scotch, daiquiris, something with passion fruit in that wasn't a porn star martini, sazeracs, and all good. I do however think Alice in wonderland as a theme is more than a little overdone- I think I've been to one in every city, and I could name about thirty just as worthy, and smarter referenced little cutes.

In a cute alleyway with other restaurants. The happy hour specials were a nice treat, which is hard to find in the UK. The hipster bartender was charming and whipped up our drinks fresh, which were light and refreshing. The dolled up waitress was polite and courteous. I ordered a slice of cake, which they forgot to bring out so the bartender gave us a discount on the drinks. Overall, would definitely visit if we were in town again.

There's a large deck for those who enjoy looking at Shrewsbury over the Severn and the A49 whilst indulging in passive smoking. The lounge area, however, whilst being a bit too open, is fine. A wide range of lagers is partially compensated by three slightly less prominent hand pulls London Pride, Charles Wells' Bombardier and Beowulf's Hurricane. An order for a spritzer resulted in an excellent large glass of sauvignon blanc and, for once, no question about do you want soda or lemonade always a bad start to a drinking experience. We had been warned by friends that the steak and kidney pudding sells out early and it had. Starters of prawn & crayfish cocktail, goats cheese wontons and ham hock terrine were all pronounced tasty and hearty and would suffice for some as a light lunch. The mains of beer-battered haddock, red Thai chicken curry and a substitute steak and kidney pie were most satisfactory. The service was good and the price came out at just over £20 per head. We will be revisiting the Corbet Arms

Being near the holidays; folks seemed dressed up but casual attire seemed ok too. The menu choices were varied and all the choices were nicely paired with good sides. I ordered the chicken curry (English, right.) and it was delicious. Everyone at our large table seemed happy with the meals. I drank my first English bitters and it was very enjoyable. It reminded me of American home brew which is to say more interesting than Bud or miller beer but not as fizzy as beer in general. I think it was called "Crazen". I had what I believe to be an English dessert; a kind of raspberry cobbler. Hit the spot for a great meal. Very good service and the crowd was lively. Room acoustics were a little tough for me but they always are.
