It has potential, it wants to be an upmarket restaurant but it isn't quite there yet. After finally finding the restaurant, enter the door, turn to the bar on the right and the door is in just past the bar, we were welcomed to out seats. Menus given to us and we were left alone to decide. The menu is limited, that's not necessary a bad thing. What was on offer can be a risky however, they have to be cooked to perfection to pull them off. We had a few questions about some of the mains and drinks. The reply from the waitress was "I have no idea", she fetched another waitress to help, and the reply was "I don't know". We just wanted to know what the mains are served with, as my friend cannot eat eggs; our other question was what was in a cocktail on the menu. Once we ordered service was prompt. Before our order cam we had a complimentary starter. Unfortunately it wasn't cooked well, so decided it may be the chef trying something out so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. We went for 24 hour slow cooked pork for our main. The slow cooked pork was tough, and different cuts of pork served with it were cooked within an inch of its life. The venue and atmosphere is lovely and clean. Staff very friendly. If they can work on staff knowledge, iron out a few problems with the food, they are on to a winner. Phone signal was poor so wi-fi would be helpful. Also, for the price I'd like a few other services such as coat checking, better chairs and tables. read more

I used to come here as a child so it's got to be at least 35 years ago since I last came here! My dad used to roll a coin on the bar to show us how slanted it was. I have to say...I think it's even more slanted than I remember! You really do walk sideways, always gives you a giggle trying to get to the bar. It's dog friendly too so we brought Charlie! Had a lovely Sunday dinner, for three of us plus drinks came to under £50 which wasn't bad at all. The food took around 45 minutes but well worth the wait. Beautiful surroundings and all round lovely vibes. My only complaint was the waitress seemed very stressed and forgetful and the service was sooooo slow. I went back in for a packet of pork scratchings to take home but four people waiting and no one manning the bar I gave up after 5 minutes lol. Need more staff or better trained ones! read more

I can't add much to previous reviews. Its great to take people to who have never been before. I believe its recently changed landlord, so I hope that they have made the menu a bit better value. This place is world famous, I can't see why when there are a million crooked houses around the world but this one is king of all badly designed interiors. First advice is to not take your nan, my nan hated it and got confused very easily, started telling me to "help them tidy up", "No nan this place is supposed to look like this, it's the crooked house!" I responded, "I want to go home" she replied. And to a home she went! (just kidding nan!) This place is great, I know a few years ago the place was abit of a wonky dive but after being taken over by new management the place has really come to life. The food in particular is amazing but can be quite price, I guess the chefs charge more to work in a wonky kitchen. The bottom of the menu shows you where they have sourced all their ingredients from locally and how faraway there supplies are, something to be proud about! The put on events all the time and now cater to weddings, so I guess you could be the first to have a crooked wedding. As you can see from the photographs the pub is having an argument with gravity . Mine workings has caused a certain wonkiness . If you put a marble on the window cill it appears to roll uphill . Theres two bars selling Banks's Ales ( hence only three stars ) . Theres also a large extension at rear with a typical Marstons restaurant . An outdoor childrens play area and a bit of a pet farm . Its a difficult place to find as its down an old quarry road leading off the Himley Road . read more

This pub is famous for being "Crooked", it is very historical and also a tourist attraction. For these reason it was one to check out but my experience was not so good. Taking pictures of the british equivalent of the leaning tower of Piza is cool however the beers at pub pub were a disgrace! They had no ales (out of stock), only lagers were stella and carling with the stella tasting like a gone of blonde beer? The Guinness was also terrible and tasted nothing like a Guinness. We complained and the staff were friendly to understand and offered a refund on all the drinks. Its worth to check out for the pictures etc.. but if your going for the beers then you should avoid this place for sure. read more

Originally a pub built a number of years ago which subsided due to mining works underneath collapsing. In recent years, rooms have been built to the rear to accommodate the large numbers who converge on this pub every night of the year. A must see for anyone visiting the Black Country; you'll feel you've had too many to dring as you step in the front door. I have always loved this place from when i was a small child. It is hard to describe the feelings this place gives you, to say quirky would be underestimating it. The long drive down to the crooked house fills you with anticipation and when you get to the end of the drive and see it, its like seeing it again for the first time. The staff have always been polite and fun as they know the effect this place has on customers old and new. Definitely somewhere to visit if you're ever in the Black Country read more

Very quirky place. From the outside the the pub is tilted and once entering you feel as if you are drunk already. You had to try the marble trick where you seeing it rolling up instead instead of down. We ate in the restaurant area of the pub which is very modern and has an enjoyable atmosphere and good easy listening music. The menu has improved vastly since the last time we visited and there was so much choice on he menu along with some unusual and quirky dishes. For my main, I ordered the pheasant Kiev with fries and salad. The Kiev was delicious and it came with a garlic kind of stuffing. The only thing I would say is that the breadcrumb coating was a bit on the thick side. The fries were lovely and perfectly seasoned and the bacon and bean salad was very tasty. All flavours worked well together. For dessert, I ordered the apple crumble rice pudding which was served in a cup. The crumble was sprinkled on top of the pudding and there was apple sauce throughout. I found the dessert very sweet but enjoyable all the same. Service here was good and food was very reasonable priced considering the portion sizes were decent. All of the vegetables come from their own allotment and the meat is locally sourced. Yeah, this place is cool if you want to see a wonky house that has sunk into the ground but apart from that everything else about the place sucks. So get your picture, get back in your car and drive away. You will thank me later. After going there for my brothers birthday, getting seated and having to wait half an hour we decided to leave, it was as if the staff had been abducted by aliens as they were nowhere to be seen, as a matter of fact neither was anyone else, there was not a single soul in the place, this was on a Sunday too...so what was going on? why does the service suck so much. I live in america now where the service here is some of the best ive experienced in the world, if you were to go into a bar here to get food and have to wait half an hour for anyone to even acknowledge you then you would walk out, the place would eventually get a bad rep and after a while nobody would go there, thing is though that hardly happens here and that's why I always return. And on the to the crooked house...shit service, bad beer and nobody goes there, as for most the places in the UK, well...its no wonder we don't tip. And if you are only going there for the beers don't bother, find somewhere else, the beer here is pathetic. Stella, carling, shitty Guinness...well, that says it all really don't it. and besides, you gotta actually be able to drink it first, and with no staff to serve you that will be a feat in itself. So...what do I think... worst service ever...well, that's kinda false because there was no service. Maybe the management need to take a class in managing, as it seems they don't know how to. If you haven't visited the Crooked House, get out there and try it - it's amazing. We regularly take visitors and they're always impressed (makes you feel a bit queasy just walking towards it, let alone when you get inside.) You can feel yourself hanging on to something to keep you from falling over. Haven't eaten there, so can't comment on that. I know an extension has been built at the back, which is perfectly normal, but it's a shame to sit in there when it's so much fun elsewhere. read more

So what you have to pay a nominal deposit on a pint glass.but how many people have got one of theirs at home as a souvenir???
