First off, the store is packed, and it is so full it is hard to really look at things. Secondly, the prices are ridiculous. There were used one piece pajamas for 9.99. I can buy them new, on sale for that price. Baby equipment was also overpriced. There was a small selection of maternity clothes but they were so expensive we were turned off looking any further. The store smelled like a goodwill (musty). I will skip this place and go to garage sales or head down to Heaven Sent in Federal Way instead.

Sadly the owner ignores you and is unprofessional, more focused on managing her kids than running the store. It is like shopping online, in person. After some indecision, she picked one out and of course, I couldn't resist and bought one too. The one I purchased is a little plainer, perfect for work, and was on sale for over half off, which of course sealed the deal. I already started using it and love both the color (blue!) and functionality. The gentleman working during our visit was so patient and informative as he answered a bajillion questions from my friend while letting us browse without pressure. Of course prices are on the higher side but I have always appreciated Cotopaxi's fun color ways, quality, and their commitment to doing good. The only downside for this visit was that I was told I would get my receipt via email but never received it, which is a bummer because I like keeping them for warranty purposes.

I always try to support local businesses, especially children's stores, but unfortunately my experiences here have consistently felt unwelcoming. My most recent visit was while shopping for my daughter's upcoming 3rd birthday. When I walked in, neither of the two employees in the store acknowledged me. After a while, I received a very cold greeting from one of them. During checkout, I commented that it was nice to see they carried adult clothing as well, and the owner responded with, "We always have," in a tone that came across as harsh and dismissive. On its own, this interaction might not have been a big deal, but it reflects a pattern I've experienced over the years. I've repeatedly found the atmosphere to be unfriendly, particularly in my interactions with the owner. As a parent who regularly shops for children's clothing and enjoys supporting local businesses, customer service matters. I want to spend my money where customers feel welcomed and appreciated. Because of the consistent lack of warmth and customer care I've experienced, I've decided to take my business elsewhere. That's disappointing, because I genuinely prefer supporting neighborhood businesses whenever possible.

I don't think it's fair to give one star for one bad employee, so I'm updating to three stars (for now). The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth, but I appreciate the owner taking the time to write and explain the situation. I'll definitely give City Mouse another go in the near future, especially since the holiday season's coming up. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Cute shop, deplorable customer service. My parents aren't native English speakers, so they have an accent, but no one has any problem understanding them. The young, blonde employee treated both my parents like they were basically idiots. My mom needed help, so she called out, "Excuse me" several times, and not once did the employee pop her head up to offer help. When my parents went up to pay, she acted like she couldn't understand them and basically treated them like trash. I'm always down to support local shops, so I've spent a pretty penny at City Mouse over the past few years. I can confidently state that I won't ever shop there ever again. There are plenty of other children's boutiques within/around West Seattle that I can support instead.
