Great cinema plex with all the latest releases screening day/night. It's got all the snack and drinks options you expect from a cinema though let me say, there nacho and cheese sauce... Yum! Screen 1 is the largest and is one of the best in Dublin for catching your new fave movie.. The VIP option is totally worth it's buck... Your VIP access includes a seat on the mezzanine plus popcorn or nachos as well as a soft drink or beer. The mezz seats are literally best in the house, little more spacious plus the viewing angle to the screen is perfect. Food queues can look scary but these guys always run prompt service so the queue goes down really quick. read more

Movies at Dundrum would be my choice of cinema...if it was ever my choice. Alas it never usually is! I went there last night to see The Proposal, and everything was very much to my liking. They've started to do this new thing where they open both upstairs and downstairs - usually you could only get all your food/tickets etc upstairs, but now they have little ushers ushering you in the direction of your screen, before you purchase anything. It's clean, comfy and the staff are friendly. read more

I would love to be able to rave about this place as I was excited all day to go to the cinema on Friday gone. Hanna was the show we wanted to watch. It was a long week and I knew that I would be working the weekend too so I wanted to chill that evening. Anyhow long story short it was sold out. The place was teeming with people which had me aghast, "What's going on? Why are there so many people?" My date replied. "Meanwhile in the real world regular people tend to go to the cinema on Fridays after a week of work etc." "Oh. I guess that makes sense. Sorry about this." "Maybe you should of bought the tickets in advance." "Maybe you should stop stating the obvious." So if you are a dweller of the real world and adhere to real world work times you would be wise to book ahead. I on the other hand will try to go there next time at an odd time as I'm not a fan of the regular or crowds. 4 stars for the foyer and very friendly staff that were as shocked as my date that I did not book ahead. read more

This is a fairly nice cinema. The tickets are reasonably priced but I would advise anyone planning to go to book online the day before. Online booking is great because you can choose your seats and it guarantees the cinema won't be full on the day (which has happened before). I have, however, a gripe or two about this cinema. One is that there is absolutely no suggested queuing system at the tills so everyone always forms into a group rather than a line and it's a bit of a free for all. The major disappoinment is the state the toilets are in. There are usually several non flushing toilets (two that I tried today before settling for one with no lock on the door) and they rarely have hand soap in the dispensers. In my eyes this really lets the whole establishment down. read more

Dundrum is defiantly the best branch of the "Movies @" franchise in Dublin! Let's talk decor. Does it tick the box? Yes! Why? It makes you feel like your in an old fashioned movie theatre and it's a lot more authentic feeling than any ODEON or IMAX I've been to! Call me old fashioned, but it's a nice novelty! Moving onto price! Is it good value? I think so! I mean a trip to the movies isn't a cheap date anymore, but these lads have some pretty good deals! Every Tuesday they have a 10€ student deal: ticket, large popcorn, large drink. Boom. You can't say no to that! Ontop of all that, the staff are all super friendly, the place is squeaky clean, and they always have a good selection of movies! So why no fifth star? Simples... WHERE IS THE BUTTER FOR MY POPCORN? It's a crime that they don't have any really. The popcorn also comes pre packed so is probably not even freshly popped! If they sort that out, they'll be onto an even bigger winner! read more

The best cinema there is. Ideally located and plenty of parking. It has this bizarre idea of VIP area, but hey it's in South Dublin. Realistically a cinema is only as good as the film it's showing. Not much more more can be said.See above, the quality of the film determines the cinematic experience. It's loses a couple of marks because it's overpriced and that's non VIP. The advantage is you have access to the best shopping centre in Dublin! I can't see myself reviewing another cinema. read more

When I lived in Rathmines I used to love jumping on the Luas and getting off at the Balally stop to go to the cinema. Certainly the preferred cinema amongst suburban residents south of the city, Dundrum's modern muliplex caters to both young and old with huge, comfortable seats, sizable compartments for your extra large diet coke and big screens with large capacity seating that means you are always almost certain of a seat without having to pre-book even when a new release is the hot topic of the weekend. Prices are slightly cheaper before 1pm until early evening, the peak period of evening time costing €7.90 for a student and €9.90 for an adult. The Mezz is a deluxe sectioned off seating section at the back of the largest screen that takes you away from the bustling main lobby and into a more tranquil setting where you are greeted with a complimentary popcorn and drink. If the regular seats are seen as big then the ones within this division can be justifiably described as jumbo, endowed with leather upholstery and very snug. They also benefit from a small recline so that you attain that superfluous 'lounging in the living room' experience. At €18.50 it is pricey but you do reap the benefits of being able to unwind and take pleasure in a glass of wine from the private bar in more relaxing surroundings than other clientele. Of late, 3D is all the rage and for one euro more you can enjoy the most popular films in the unique backdrop of three dimension. The cinema sells 3D glasses for 50c but does encourage you to bring your own on the rare occasion that they may be out of stock. Gracious staff and a whole plethora of food and drink available to buy that you can gorge on during a rumpus blockbuster makes this a very enjoyable Friday night or Sunday afternoon outing - the widespread enjoyment of the experience befitting for any time in the week. read more

I made a mistake in booking the ticket. The system allowed me to buy for the time that is passed. I meant to buy it for tomorrow, Sunday. I tried to contact them by phone. Their phone only operated Mon-Fri. The message says contact us for urgent inquiries by Twitter or Facebook which I do not have. I need to travel there to talk to them in person. Heck yeah, 5 stars in all the categories: Clean seats, clean bathrooms, proper ventilation before and after shows, comfortable seats...ok, it's expensive, but you pay for what you get and in this case it is a very enjoyable experience. Doesn't uphold and adhere to covid guidelines. People sitting where they like in the screens and no staff to tell them to sit in their seats. People not wearing masks while heading to the screens, about 3 staff members on duty but manager says there were more yet they were nowhere to be seen. Do not waste your money, it's one of the most expensive cinemas yet the worst I've ever been in. Rathmines and Liffey valley are much better. read more

I love the cinema. I've been known to go multiple times a week. I love the art house ones and the quirky run down ones with pretentious art students and over salted popcorn and the multi screen 15euro popcorn ones. It takes a lot to disappoint me. My boyfriend and I had a Tuesday afternoon free and a trip to the cinema was the obvious choice. Instead of heading to a closer cinema we decided to give Dundrum a go. This involved a trip on the 17 from Kimmage (not the greatest bus) but we sought a little adventure on that rainy February day. We arrived at the cinema and noticed on the listing screens that the film we wished to see was showing in two screens at 3.10pm, Screen 2 and Screen 4, this made sense as we'd checked these times online before we left the house. We approached the counter and asked for tickets and were informed abruptly that there was only a VIP showing, we questioned why the listing screens said that it was showing in two screens and the cashier just repeated his previous statement. A VIP showing was 17euro each, this includes popcorn and some other nonsense, but it was a ludicrous price to pay for a cinema ticket at 3.10 on a Tuesday. Unfortunately we had no other reason to come to Dundrum and did not want it to be a completely wasted journey. We bought tickets to another non VIP film that we did not really want to see. It was disappointing, I can't even remember what it was and it's only a month later, but the disappointment still lingers. My boyfriend bought popcorn, my boyfriend is a bit of a popcorn expert, not only has he enjoyed it in many cinemas all over the world but he also has worked in a cinema where his specialist job was popcorn maker. It was terrible. Popcorn is easy to get right, keep it in an airtight bag once popped and then heat. This popcorn was stale and cold. So after all this my boyfriend and I returned home in the rain on the 17 with a stale taste in our mouths. We weren't sure what had happened, had we made a mistake. All the fliers and the screens in the cinema had the film we wanted to see listed but no explanation had been given. So, I sent an email of complaint and to their credit they responded a day later. The screen had needed urgent repairs. Fair enough, screens need repairing, Tuesday afternoon is the time to do it. But why not make the VIP showing a regular showing, why not change your listings online and in the cinema, why not explain to your customers in person at the cinema what's going on, why not offer some compensation when you get a well constructed and detailed letter of complaint? Poor show Movies @ Dundrum, I will not be returning. Side note. I feel a little bad about giving such a poor review seeing as I've only gone here once but there are so many excellent cinemas in Dublin and this is the first time I've left one in a negative mood. I really love the look an feel of dundrum cinema. It's decor makes it feel like an old theatre. They have good promotions and food options like hot dogs an nachos and about 6 different types of slush puppies! However, there popcorn is not fresh, it comes in packaged boxes and is just not the quality you expect from a cinema. In fact the only reason my partner goes to the cinema these days is for the popcorn, so this is a massive let down! They need freshly made popcorn and then they will get 5 stars! read more

You know what, I've been looking for an excuse to air my complaints about this theatre for some time and now, thanks to Yelp, I've found it! Movies@Dundrum may be a convenient choice for some moviegoers on the Southside, but honestly unless I'm shopping and just decide to see a picture on a whim, I will always make the effort to go to Cineworld or some other theatre in the city centre. There are a few reasons for this: 1) Movies@Dundrum has a WOEFUL selection of films. Typically the most commercial Hollywood schlock and nothing on the fringe of being interesting. Its showing times are infrequent and awkward, unless a film is Harry Potter, it generally gets booted to a 21:50pm slot, which of course makes it more expensive too. 2) The other thing is that 90% of the times I have seen a film in this cinema, something has gone wrong. For example; no air conditioning in a packed auditorium in the middle of July! Sound distortion or speaker malfunction, which has happened on several occassions. I went to see Hairspray and the aspect ratio was stretched vertically, clipping off a quarter of the frame. It took for someone to run out and flag down an attendant before it was fixed, 10 minutes after the movie had begun. 3) There are soo many, loike, irritating Dundrum-heads, lounging Uggs on seats, giggling about the stupid things that only teen girls can giggle about. I've been distracted from enjoying a film enough times for this to be a problem. 4) They serve Ben & Jerry's.....I hate Ben & Jerry's. Although in fairness, no theatre sells Häagen-Dazs anymore :( If you're planning to make a night of it, i.e. go a see a flick and have a few beers afterwards, I reckon town is your best bet. More choice and better quality over all. read more

A newish multiplex cinema in the enormous Dundrum shopping centre. The seats are comfy, the popcorn's good, and the ticket prices are standard. They only show mainstream blockbuster stuff, so don't expect any art house films. Absolutely groaning with people on weekends, especially in the afternoon and evening. New release screenings are commonly sold out. You can book tickets online for a small extra charge to ensure seating, but the queue for collecting prepaid tickets from the automated machine is often just as long as the queue to buy tickets themselves. The website is full of info and there are restaurants and a bar in the surrounding buildings so you can make a night of it. Easy to get to on the Luas green line (take either the Balally or Dundrum stop). read more

Dundrum is the cinema of choice for southside suburbanites. It's a part of the new wave of massive, spanking new cinema complexes that serve nachos and oversized buckets of popcorn. To me, it 's like the sparkling cinemas of America that I saw in movies when I was little (I watched these movies from a poky and unglamorous small town cinema). As James says, expect blockbusters from large studios rather than indie flicks. The website is simple and it's easy to buy tickets online (even for technophobes) - just remember to bring your credit card along when you're picking them up. The seats are comfy and the screens are as large as you'd expect. When surveying the movie treats, remember there is a reason why your mammy used to pack a lunch for the cinema - they are darn expensive! read more

This is my favourite cinema in Dublin. There's always a great selection of movies showing and the screens are nice and big. There is also a special screen known as the mezz. You pay a bit more for the tickets but with them you get a free drink and popcorn (both small!) and you get to sit in a special elevated section, which is fitted with big leather seats. The location and morning ticket prices are handy, but otherwise this cinema has nothing to offer. You must buy your tickets from a food vendor. This attempt to induce us to purchase more from them is pathetic. I was recently in Screen Two, which is very small and cold. I mentioned the uncomfortable temperature to a member of staff prior to the start of the film, and also emailed the manager later that day. The screening room remained icy cold during the film, and I have never gotten a response from management. For the first twenty minutes of the actual feature, the resolution was skewed to a nauseating level. After twenty minutes, the screen went black. Then a reasonable resolution was displayed. read more

I am a keen cinema goer. I go to the cinema to watch a film and i find it tedious to be surrounded by pop corn foodies, but i tolerate it. At a recent showing of the Hotel Budapest a person in front of me smoked an e-cigarette right through the film. Another annoyance was a young woman paying no attention to the film and checking her phone throughout the performance. I note that the cinema authorities have ceased "the turn off your mobile phone" advertisement. Dundrum have lovely cinemas but the viewing experience is deteriorating from lack of supervision. The film is excellent but the enjoyment was marred by the two nuisances i had to experience. I will not be going to Dundrum cinemas soon to be just annoyed. read more

GROSS! GROSS GROSS GROSS! Horrible experience. Bought my tickets early, around 2pm for a 6:10pm showing. Got their at 5:50, went inside, there was one more couple who were already sitting down, on time, as to not be late and disturb everyone. Then this woman comes in who works there with a thick German accent and demands we all leave so they can clean. I was wondering why the place was absolutely filthy, littered with popcorn and containers. Odd, because usually theaters are cleaned out right after a movie ends, not 20 minutes before a movie begins. So I left, whereas the other couple were older and couldn't get up and down the stairs easily, so they were belittled by this horrible woman. Lastly, it is odd to me to have assigned seating. It's nice I guess so you know you have a seat and first come first serve. However, the woman who was checking tickets and directing to our seats left early, so I could not ask her if I could move seats. They pile everyone in the same seating area, and I was sitting in front of people who felt the need to talk throughout the entire movie. I won't be going back. read more

During my salad days as a student, I'd gravitate towards places like Dundrum instead of the arty farty film institutes. The last art film I saw was My Dinner with Andre, which was fifteen hours long and my film student boyfriend at the time was annoyed when I fell asleep through it and wouldn't tell me how it ended afterwards . when we met up with his equally pretentious classmates at the café around the corner. This is not the type of cinema my ex would have taken me to, sadly. I would have been far more impressed if he had. I'll happily sit through a superhero flick or something with a lot of CGI instead of enduring the unending tedium of art films. These days I can watch those snooty art flicks in the comfort of my own home, with a nice bowl of popcorn and a cocktail. But since I don't have IMAX or 3-D in my living room, I make it a point to go out to a larger cinema for it. Enter Dundrum Cinema. Dundrum is easy to get to by car, has ample parking, is in a supersized mall, which is good news for shoppers and families and most importantly has COMFY AND WIDE SEATS that can accommodate your rugby-player boyfriend or your bootylicious babymama with the thunder thighs. I cannot convey the sheer frustration of forking over €30 for tickets and grub only to be CRUSHED by the blasted drinks cup holder and the seats in front. I'm a big and tall North American and I NEED MY SPACE. And here is my beef with you, Europe: your cinema and theatre seats are TOO DAMNED SMALL. Two hours of knee-crunching and thigh-pinching agony and even I will drag Godot onto the stage. I refuse to pay well over the odds for uncomfortable seating. But I digress. YES, it's more expensive, YES you have to book ahead but you're missing the point if you go there and complain about these things. Like the mall next door, Dundrum Cinema is about comfort and convenience. If I want to take my five-year-old to see Despicable Me 2, I'll take her there. If I want a cosy date night with Husband while watching Iron Man we'll choose this cinema and I never have toto have an anxiety attack over whether I will go through deep-vein thrombosis while sitting in one of those puny chairs at the other places. In fact, you can even book a SOFA, how cool is that? If you're feeling peckish and you don't fancy expensive and stale popcorn (I totally get it by the way, popcorn on this side of the Atlantic is WRONG!), then remember.... you're in a MALL. Buy it in advance at the supermarket at the mall and smuggle it in. And afterwards, there's always a nice restaurant or bar you can go to. Now THAT'S a date I'd enjoy. read more

This is a great cinema. Reasonably priced tickets. In fact, you can get a VIP ticket for €20 which entitles you to refills of drink and popcorn plus leather recliners and a view from the balcony. Word of advice - this cinema can be very busy so book tickets online. If you're going for the VIP area be careful to get a seat closer to the back. If you sit in the front row and you're vertically challenged like me you'll have to peep out over the rail. That's about it. Otherwise, great cinema! read more

The main issue I have with Movies @ Dundrum is the popcorn. The popcorn is not made on site but is delivered in black bags and put into the heaters when needed. So the later you go to the cinema the more stale the popcorn becomes. read more

This Cinema is the Bomb.Com I mean it has everything you need freshly popped popcorn, nice cool slushies and other cold beverages not to mention the amazing Interior it's like walking into a really modern, futuristic, chrome cinema which it is. Dirty and Dated!!! We've been going here since it opened both as a couple and with the kids but on a recent visit we paid extra for the "premier seating" in the back row and it was disgusting, it looked like the armrests which double as a little side table for nachos etc hadn't been cleaned for at least a few weeks, there were lumps of chocolate melted into what is supposed to be a place you put your food, I could barely bring myself to put my drink in the cup holder beside it!!! Toilets were dirty and a lot of locks broken, considering they only recently put up their prices I would expect a lot more, it's no longer the cinema it used to be! Won't be returning in a hurry unless the renovate!! read more

The movie started at 7.15 they opened the doors at 7.05 after cleaning the cinema room. When we got inside it was a bit dirty, not only that I like butter in my popcorn and I rather go to Odeon cinema in Stillorgan. read more

I used to be a bit skeptical of the Dundrum centre and it's surrounds but I really like the Cinema. Went to see inception here with the other half and screen and sound quality was great. We used to go to the UCI in tallaght but that had gone way downhill and finally closed a couple of months back. I would have given five stars but the parking was a pain. final note , the cheese sauce for the nachos does not have the spicy zing of the concoction that they used to serve in Tallaght. read more

Awful. There were easily 600 in the foyer when I arrived, and at least 1000 when I gave up 20 minutes later. The queue hardly moved and no more than a few dozen actually got as far as the screens. This is why people pirate movies. read more

Went to see La La Land, the sound was the problem. If I was watching it at home I would have asked for the volume to be turned up. I did not want to interrupt my viewing of the movie (I was in the back row to the right hand side at the Mezz but afterwards I asked to speak to a manager. I spoke to the sound engineer who said he had set the movie to the required settings. I asked him had he actually watched the movie and listened to the sound and he confirmed he had not. It really ruined the whole experience of that movie for me as it is a musical and the whole time I was aware that I was not "immersed" in it as I could not hear it properly. read more
