You could mistaken for believing the Luas has dropped you at the end of the world on a dark Wednesday evening, for an inprompt trip to the flicks, when there is barely a soul in sight. The Odeon cinema in The point village clearly points to an optimistic boost in the economy, one that doesnt want to hop on the red line luas and come up this far yet. The cinema is situated in somewhat abandoned surroundings. You know those fake shop fronts with pictures of pharmacies and cafes with people laughing ecstatically buying cough medicine for their haribo headed children, in 2d plastered across the untouched glass shopfronts. There is a whole lot of empty space here. The cinema itself is grand to be honest, the staff came across as nice and pleasant. The seats are spacious, the sound is very good. The large popcorn is a little small, either that or im a large bit greedy. You can get butter on it, at your peril unless of course you have a decent Vhi or Aviva health insurance policy. They have a security guard in this unignited shopping centre at night time. Lucky for them or somebody could drag the below statue onto the luas and take it as far as Tallaght or Saggart for shits and giggles. Ive seen stranger things on the luas and considering its right outside the door nothing would surprise me!

Went on the opening night March 27th 2012, I thought it would be a great treat for the kids being the first ones into the opening of a new cinema. I expected a red carpet, fire eaters, Clowns, Papparazzi, freebies and goodies. I had bigged the place up to the kids (10 & 12yrs) letting my imagination of what an opening night in my eyes would consist of. I let them book it online using my credit card (a first for them I think they where more excited about getting to shop online) and told them to choose the movie and get the best seats in the house! They where really excited and booked to see the Hunger Games in the ISENSE theater. Tickets for 2 adults and 2 kids came to 36 euro. So we where all excited and because I drive a Luas it was free travel for all straight to the Cinema, (If you've never been its at the Luas Point stop opposite the O2, Next door to the Gibson Hotel, and facing Harrys Bar) As I've never grown up I was as giddy as the kids and expected to be greeted by a throng of Papparrazzi, whilst stopping for questions from radio, and TV, and rubbing shoulders with glitteriety. How disappointed I was to be greeted by a pimply teenage security guard in a new but un-ironed shirt, he was having a sneaky butt, and looked to be avoiding the CCTV, like he was a prisoner in Colditz. Wheres the red carpet? the kids queried excitedly........... yarr wha? replied the smoking shirt, red carpet?, nah theres nun of dat. The cinemas up da stares, if ya hurry ya can get a free coffee. Yes folks......opening night in one of the countries newest and hippest locations, with was is advertised as the largest screen in Ireland where giving out a voucher for a free cup of coffee. There was no red carpet, only a huge entrance you'd compare to a shopping mall, its big white and cold. There where a few posters advertising a pirate and scientist movie which we didn't take much notice of. Security pointed us to the top level. We could have taken the lift but Chloe has a phobia so we rode the several what seemed like never ending escalators until we reached the foyet. No great shakes here either folks, having taken the stairway to heaven we where disappointed on our arrival to find an average looking cinema foyet, just like all the rest we've come to expect form modern day cinemas. The kids had 10euro each pocket money burning a hole in their pockets and where instantly attracted to the pick'nmix.......off they ran whilst I used the latest technology to print off the tickets using the card they'd pre-booked with. This was cool as we didn't have to queue and it printed our ticket in about a minute. Over I strode to the kids whilst Lesley went into claim her free coffee from the franchised coffee store 'Costa Coffee'. The kids mindful that they would require drinks as well tried to calculate the cost by individual sweet, where as I just jumped in and quarter filled my bag with big fizzy cola bottles. There is also a 'Ben & Jerry's beside the pick'n'mix, where we had to pay by weight. Dannys came to 4.60 euro and Chloe 5.25 euro for what seemed a miniscule amount of sweets (more like 3 x 10p bags in old moneys worth) I was dreading weighing mine and my dread was well founded when the chirpy sales girl said 9.86euro. I could have baulked but as it was a treat I smiled and paid through clenched teeth. Just then Lesley arrived back from the 'coffee shop......."well say's I, did you get you free coffee", well kind of said Lesley It was either a black or white coffee with the voucher, and I wanted a latte, but i couldnt use the voucher for a latte so I had to pay 3.80euro. Then we had to queue for drinks, I was behind three teens and they where being served very slowly by a girl who couldn't work out the till so it was nearly 10 minutes before I was eventually served, three large slush puppies, and taco chips and cheese add another 20 euro to my nights cost. Ahh a photographer standing just outside the coffee shop taking photos........."here we go kids yis'll be on the front page of the metro herald tomorrow"..........not a chance. He was more interested in chatting up the ticket checker and didnt give us a second glance. I was disappointed for the kids having bigged them up as to what might be. We where shown towards a stairway leading to an open area that would seat about 12 people. The ISENSE theater itself was cool, huge screen, 52 speakers (I didn't count them I read it somewhere), the seats where big with plenty leg room and you can see the screen from all angles as thats the way modern cinema are designed, no having to sit in centre back to get the best view these days. Movie was worth seeing but not as good as the book i've been informed. I wont tell you the plot or ending. It wasn't the spectacular opening night I had anticipated. If you intend going for a date I recommend you eat before going, and if you've got kids or are on a budget bring your own goodies. Expensively disappointing ;-((

First of all, the area of this place is first-class. Located in a very modern side of Dublin close to the Docklands, the area is clean and bright, right in front of the The point Luas station. Inside, the building is incredible and there is so much SPACE. Extremely high ceiling and open areas, you even feel like the cinema is only yours or that you are in a different world, far from crowds and noise - which is particularly interesting for people who like to enjoy a movie experience properly. On the very top floor, there is a Costa coffee shop, Ben and Jerry ice-cream and popcorn stands as usual. The toilets are new and wide with big mirrors and the seating is very comfortable; the screen is absolutely huge. There is a parking lot in the lower floor and there are some pretty nice deals, as for example odeon club card so the more you go there, the more points you get in a rewarding scheme and also, gift cards. From Monday to Thursday the ticket is 6euro, cheaper than in other places in town - for such a quality cinema - this also applies to every day for films showing before 1pm. I know there is a deal for cinema, parking and dinner for 2 people for a very affordable price also. Overall, great! Plus - I work right next to this cinema and I left my badge in a chair after the movie. In the next day my badge was taken to the reception of where I work! Very good "lost and found".

Never had seen this door open!

A great cinema that does good deals during the week. They have IMAX here too. Best part, no queues.

Like the idea of a bar a few steps away from the 'silver screen'? Want a huge comfy seat to go with that popcorn? Step right up - get your tickets folks! This place gets two very enthusiastic thumbs up! There are about 20+ huge and incredibly comfortable seats in this private cinema. There's also popcorn and pelligrino to go with your ticket (or a cocktail if you prefer for a few euro more). And, the films shown are those cool classics of yesterday (like Dracula and Jaws)! You're even welcome to send recommendations to them for future films via Facebook! The cinema is in a great location too - steps from downtown Grafton Street! And, the hotel that holds this private gem is actually a nice spot to enjoy a pre- or post-film cocktail. (There's a comfortable lounge or you can grab a stool at the smaller bar which I prefer...) It's a cozy experience indeed. Get your prepaid tickets by calling or sending an email - and hurry as some films sell out...! See you at the movies!

If there was one thing for me to fault and I'm probably being picky but it's that the website doesn't seem up to date with the amount of tickets available. When I tried to buy mine it said there were 6 available but I was put on a waiting list. Other than that the experience overall was fantastic and I would definitely go back!

The Stella is a unique movie theater, with sumptuous seating offering, red leather couches, leather overstuffed chairs and hassocks, quaint side tables with tiny lamps and seat side service. You make reservations in advance, reserving specific chairs or couches, or, if you are so inclined, one of the large beds located at the very front of the theater. You can pre-order food which is brought to you or if not hot, already at your table when you arrive. The theater has a retro concession stand and you can have alcoholic drinks in the theater. The movie screen was huge and the sound was fabulous. Our seats were in the 5th row. Beforehand, you can book a table or bar seats for dinner or drinks in the upstairs cocktail bar which is also unique and fabulous. Very art deco with a cool vibe! They have a fancy drink menu, I snapped a few photos of sample drink offerings. My friend's cocktail arrived in a stemmed footed porcelain teacup! We did not finish a bottle of wine we had ordered for the table and we were informed we were free to take the bottle and glasses down to the theater to enjoy during the movie! Very nice! The service was very friendly, although they had some obviously new waitstaff who had trouble getting their act together and could not recall who ordered what and just simply placed entrees randomly in front of our table's diners, resulting in lots of dish passing and exchanging. The food was quite good. I ordered the Kale Salad (delicious) and the Creamed Spinach (yummy, but too liquidy) and Chicken Skewers. My husband ordered the Patatas Bravas and the Chicken Skewers, my friend ordered the giant Garlic Chili Prawns, Kale Salad and her husband ordered the Baba Ganoush. Good taste reports all around! The atmosphere is intimate and you are allocated a 1 hour and 45 minute schedule for your reserved dining space which was plenty of time. We did not feel rushed at all. I would highly recommend this unique and fun experience when in Dublin!
