My group enjoyed a game of Scrabble and cookies after our escape room experience. This seems like a great alternative to the drinking culture in a Dublin, or for folks too young to drink. The metal beds squeaked at the slightest movement, and pods were so close together that we could head people from other pods just talking. The trip switch in pod 5 tripped when anything other than the 2 small heaters were pluged in. The kitchen toilets and shower areas were fine for what they were, clean and tidy with microwave and dishwashe, nothing to write home about. Some great views of the land around Ballybeg house, it would be lovely to sit on the porch of the pod with a tea/coffee in the morning, but the views are blocked with the trees. The dinner for the wedding was fantastic, the flavours and portion sizes were amazing. The staff were excellent, light-hearted, and friendly and always someone nearby if you needed anything throughout the day. The grounds are so picturesque that you'd never be short of a good location to snap a picture. I'd probably give a higher star rating if we'd have stayed in a different accommodation option or if the pods were priced better for what they are.

Extremely clever set up. Food, service and attention to detail could not me faulted. On the third day...as u do. We were invited back to celebrate with the happy newlyweds in the shebeen. The chapel had been transformed into an amazing table set up with stage for a band and dance floor...with another fully serviced bar and bathroom facility! Loved this place so much. Situated behind the New Square apartments the garden provides a composed sanctuary away from the other often harried university grounds. The cherry blossom in April is a sight to savour, the pastel pinks and whites complimenting the unruffled spirit of this safe haven superbly. As the Spring draws closer you notice actors practicing plays within the garden and I was fortunate enough to see it turn into an Open Air Theatre when the official Shakespeare Company came to perform there as referred to in my opening sentence. The dramatic, vivid emerald green of the lawn and rustic auburn of the tree trunks provided a picturesque setting for this poignant performance to be carried out within. The emotion of the performance was translated well within such a stirring and unique backdrop as this creating a magical open-air festival of love, laughter and amorous adventure. Furthermore, the Elizabethan costumes worn by the actors corresponded with the romanticism attributed to the garden perfectly. With a sun-dial at the back and wrought iron birds lining the lawn this refuge from the hustle and bustle evitable within a vibrant student community as that which Trinity exudes is a wonderful place to visit. Grab a bench and enjoy an hour or two with a take away tea and enthralling book.

Things we didn't like: there is a pub down stairs that stays open very late in the evening. You can hear the club music all through the room. One night we were kept awake until 2:00AM because of the noise. It just so happened that on this same night, the boiler went out so we had no heat and no hot water to take a shower. I would possibly consider staying here again in the future if I could get a room away from the pub.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I felt this was worth mentioning. I had been traveling for over a day and a half and was extremely exhausted. I politely asked the front desk if there was anywhere I could sit and rest my eyes for a few minutes until check-in. The staff member immediately said no and made it clear that resting or sleeping anywhere in the lobby was not allowed. The interaction felt dismissive and not very friendly, and I noticed a similar tone when he was speaking with other guests. Another issue was the bathroom setup. I stayed on the second floor and there were no women's restrooms on that floor, so I had to go up and down the stairs each time I needed to use the bathroom. After check-in, I finally fell asleep because I was so exhausted, but I was suddenly woken up by loud pounding on my door( not a gentle knock )The staff member said he had made a mistake and placed me in the wrong room. I understand mistakes happen -- I've stayed in hostels all over the world -- but the way it was handled felt disruptive. As I was getting up to move rooms, he suddenly said I could just stay where I was. I had originally booked a four-bed female dorm because I hoped to meet other travelers, so having the room to myself wasn't really what I expected-but ultimately, I was grateful that I did have the room to myself so that was one positive He said he would make it up to me with a free breakfast token, but the breakfast ended up being very minimal (bread, cheese, yogurt, cucumber, and cereal). Overall, the atmosphere just didn't feel very welcoming. If you're looking for something friendlier with a better vibe, I would recommend Abbey Court Hostel instead -- the staff there are VERY kind, the common areas are lively- and they won't kick you out if you need to rest your eyes for 30 minutes and it feels much more inviting for travelers. I really do hate to leave a negative review, but this is mainly to make awareness to other travelers

One of them always seemed to work fine but the other one we could never get to go up from the lobby. They didn't allow you to take the stairs to go up which I thought was weird. We were staying on floor 2 so it was annoying to have to wait for a working elevator every time. The beds in the room were fine. Typical hostel bed and they provided us with a pillow, blanket, and towel. The shower in the bathroom in the room was fine but the toilet didn't flush so we always had to go to the community bathroom down the hall. Not the end of the world but just frustrating at times. Best part about this place was the location. There were a couple restaurants and coffee shops nearby as well as convenience stores like a Tesco express around the corner. The Jameson distillery is literally right around the corner and you can get a discount for the Jameson tasting tour if you tell them you are staying at the Generator. It was also very close to temple bar!

This intriguing mode of entry really roused my interest. Upon entry, ascend the white-washed walls laden with a whole conglomerate of paintings and photographs old and new. The Back Loft is a bright and roomy multi-disciplinary loft located at the back of La Catedral Studios. It is a multi-purpose space for the arts in a reclaimed Victorian industrial loft. Refurbished to a bare minimum to preserve the raw fabric of its past time charm, this inspired space is an unconventional artists' playground which embraces any art related project. The space may be hired for art exhibitions, live art events, theatre plays and rehearsals, workshops, intimate music gigs, dance, life drawing, photo shoots, film location and functions, to mention a few. The Back Loft is particularly open to experimentations and to adventurous site-specific work, to individual and collectives' curated projects and is an ideal springboard for emerging artists. I recently attended a photo exhibition here organized by a college friend who was able to get her hands on the venue relatively easily. Since its establishment in 2005, the Back Loft has played host to a great array of events independently curated by individuals and collectives. From what she said the studios offered a nurturing and supportive environment with 24 hr/7 day access, wi-fi, visibility on the studios' blog, kitchen and chill out space, free attendance at the back loft events, participation in an open studio event at Culture Night, negotiable rates for hire of the Back Loft and free access to the Back Loft for private use. I have attended a separate function here where I witnessed the use of one projector, one sound system (mixing desk and two speakers), two microphone stands, one microphone, one upright acoustic piano and a rack of gallery spotlights to further emphasise it's unique resourcefulness. From a punter's point of view the space's great natural light as a result of sky-lights running the length of the space and original pine timber flooring provide the ideal backdrop to witness pioneering artwork like no other.
