Difficult to be so intimate for so long but the actors sustained the relationship beautifully. I hope I get to see another play here some day. The benches were comfortable. It certainly wasn't crowded for the matinee- there were only about 10 people total, including us, which was very sad as the play was so wonderful and the acting so superb. There is a bar in the lobby and the building is gorgeous. They've an upper floor you can rent out for occasions. And it's gorgeous- stained glass windows, lovely giant hall with beautiful ceiling- the works. I think you'd have a lovely wedding if you booked it. I wish I could go back for more productions, because this place is a class act all the way. Nice bathrooms, too.

A little known theatre amongst the occasional theatre going crowd. It is wedged between two…read morechurches and is something that you would easily walk by. It was built way back in 1662 and was a prominent theatrical venue in it's hey day. On either side of it is St Michael and St John's Church. It's structure still remains and it opens up into the basement. It recently got a refurbishment grant so that it could be modelled back to it's former glory. Its part of Gaiety School of acting and you can catch some good performances. The location is in Temple Bar which adds to it's historical essence, a real Dublin treasure.

Up the stairs, past the ceramic leopard print dog, and the mini mahogany horses positioned dramatically against the white walls, you will arrive up into a maze of mini studios and offices. These little spaces have been taken over by various Dublin artists and creatives. Individual pods to work in, with access to the opinions and support of their peers, all for lower than normal rent. There is also a gallery / exhibition space which is changed regularly. The guys are launching a new publication called IMPRINT Zine - a full colour zine featuring over 20 artists' work, curated by Grainne Tynan and Eimear Tynan, two onsite artists. In case you're having trouble finding the spot, the Market Studios is a blue building on the corner of Halston St and Marys Lane opposite Georges Hill primary school and near the Victorian fruit market. The place is only open to the public on specific exhibition days, as far as I'm aware.

In particular their Annual Exhibition is fantastic and I love to visit it to see the wealth of contemporary Irish art selected via open submission - paint, sculpture, print, photography, drawing and architecture - it's all here, and it's all fantastic.

This is great for the local children and children from other areas as it gives them a place to bring out their star qualities! Ballymun is sending out the next lot of superstars! I have been at the theatre for the odd pantomine and the last one i went to was so hilarious, the panto while for the children has enough adult content to keep the grown us happy and laughing along. And the cost is only a fraction of what it would cost in the more fancier theatres in the city center.

Parking is quite difficult or at least tricky in that area... even they advice to give them a ring to get advice on where is best to park your car but they do have underground parking facilities on event nights. Anyway Axis does LOADS of stuff, it's not just a theatre. What I've experienced is the underground studio for musicians which has a recording studio and 2 rehearsal rooms of decent size. Very cheap, 10€ an hour, though they do need to get their act together with the booking process because for a while the receptionist pretended to take bookings over the phone but actually nothing was done!!!), there's a drumming set, 2 guitar amps and 1 bass amp, 1 PA system and 2-3 mics (plus a keyboard in one of the rooms). If you're interested in music rehearsal, dance or art projects, I think it's worth checking this place out.

Prepare to be challenged! Other than the escape rooms, The Clockwork Door is a "time house" where people can congregate and pay for their time spent there by the minute. Everything is included- board games, snacks, and coffee/tea. Post-escape room, the staff grants your group free unlimited access to the leisure area. My group enjoyed a game of Scrabble and cookies after our escape room experience. This seems like a great alternative to the drinking culture in a Dublin, or for folks too young to drink. I highly recommend this experience for visitors and locals alike.

Having recently moved into the area, I feel I have to give it 5 stars!…read more Ok, like any area, its got its issues : some "colorful" locals, litter here and there, the odd bit of graffiti. However, I have to say, I love it. Bars, cafes, restaurants, groceries, hotels, buses, trains ... everything on my doorstep. 15-20 min stroll into town, or cross the river for another selection of bars and cafes. Why didn't I move here sooner???

I have been around the city this weekend because of an event called "Dublin Gallery weekend", in…read morewhich as the name says many galleries are open to the public. I have been to several museums but sometimes you do not really feel welcomed in a small gallery unless you are sure you want to invest a few bob in something. I had decided that this weekend was an excellent opportunity to explore the arty bits of Dublin 1 and 2 like a viewer and as an admirer as I love many types of art. I have been to about 10 galleries and most of them are not very big in size nor offer a very wide selection of items. Most of those businesses have a nice website featuring past, recent and future exhibitions and I guess I was expecting to see so much more but in reality there is more info in their website than in the place itself where you can find one main exhibition and not much to browse around; in this aspect I prefer museums for sure. I bumped into this tiny gallery as it was not in the program but I was glad to stop by. When you are walking along Grafton Street there is a small alley called Johnson's court in the right side which usually has a lovely old lady playing her harp and if you keep on going straight like if you were going to the Powerscourt Centre, you will end up seeing a small turn to the left where Balla Bán is located. The place is indeed extremely tiny (being classified as a boutique gallery) and is clearly more business oriented selling several paintings, drawings and caricatures appealing to a more general public as many of the items in display are quite funny. Also prices are more affordable and everyone can get something to put on their "white walls", hence the Irish name for the business which I think has great variety, location and no opulence but is quite trendy.
