Edit: The shipper has a notably flexible relationship with reality, as his version of events bears little resemblance to what actually occurred. The dresser was scheduled for pickup on 10/21, not 10/25. He confirmed a 6-9pm window that day, despite being told three separate times--during booking, immediately after, and again via text--that pickup needed to happen before 9pm because of storage unit closing times. His claim that his phone was "off" after 4pm doesn't hold up as he texted me the day after at 5:32pm. The narrative that I was "aggressive" is a convenient deflection. The driver was sarcastic and dismissive almost from the start, and when I responded in kind, he decided to rewrite the interaction to cast himself as the victim. After being confronted with his own words and quoting him verbatim, he eventually admitted his behavior was inappropriate, though it took several denials to get there. Also, the part about him moving his schedule around to accommodate the pick up is also a very creative rewrite. A quick glance at his reviews--both here and on uShip--shows this isn't a one-off. This isn't retaliation, it's simply a warning: there are plenty of professional movers out there. You don't need to deal with someone who confuses basic communication and courtesy for optional extras. Original review: Avoid this company. Communication is unprofessional and the service unreliable. I contacted them three times before pickup to confirm that the driver needed to arrive before 9 PM; my messages were ignored. On the day of pickup, the driver stated he couldn't arrive until after 9 PM and suggested I move a heavy piece of furniture outside the storage facility and wait for him there -- an unreasonable and unsafe request - especially if he were to cancel last minute and then I'd be stuck with a piece of furniture that I didn't have the vehicle to move and could not take back in my storage facility. When I declined, he became rude, sarcastic, and argumentative. Ignoring communication, missing agreed-upon times, and responding with hostility is unacceptable. I would not trust this company with valuable items. Their negative reviews speak for themselves. read more

Understand that scheduling can be tough, but at least keep your clients informed. I had a 4 day window for a pickup. Contract said they would notify me 24-48 hours in advance of exact p/u time. Nothing. A few hours before the window closed, was asked if they could extend window 1 day. Said yes but only in the morning. Noon came and was told they were 3-4 hours away. Stay away from this group. read more

Excellent communication, perfect delivery, and my custom table was delivered in perfect condition... Not only was the pick up timely, but the drop off was complicated... Leaving it with a different family until I arrived at a later date... Communication was of the most important with this arrangement, which worked out extremely well... In the future, I would use them for everything I had to transport read more

We've all heard horror stories about movers: they can be expensive, furniture breaks, yards yadda. I would highly recommend this company for anyone looking to move their furniture. Shoutout to Reggie from Movers for a Cause for being professional, kind, and helpful. We had a nightstand delivered to our home in California that came from the east coast. Reggie kept us updated on when to expect the item to be delivered. When he dropped off our furniture, a mirrored nightstand, I noticed that it was very well wrapped in a moving blanket to prevent it from being damaged on the way. We thought that he would just leave the nightstand near the front door, but Reggie actually moved and placed it in the master bedroom where it needed to go. Would definitely use them again in the future. read more

Poor communication skills. They don't respond to their number, texts or emails in any consistent fashion. Companies who can not be bothered to even respond to your communications rarely care about the rest of the service they give to you either. read more

Our Ebay antique furniture purchase move was perfection! Reggie provided constant communication to us throughout the cross-country move. The furniture arrived packaged well, and Reggie arrived with a smile. Without doubt I would recommend Reggie and his company, Mover-For-A-Cause, to do any move anywhere. Don't hesitate to hire this company. You will not regret it. read more

I used Movers for a Cause to transport my furniture fro Georgia to Arizona. I had many communications with Reggie during this move and he was always friendly and easy to reach. The price for the job was great as I had been quoted $5000-$15000 from other companies. Movers for a Cause took great care of my things, they arrived on time and unloaded quickly and efficiently. This was a great experience and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a relocation company. read more

I hired Movers-For-A-Cause via Thumbtack to help me with the large items. Reggie and his team were professional and careful with all of my stuff. I was given a 9-11 AM arrival window and although they arrived outside of that window (truck issue) they notified me and gave me an updated time frame. When Reggie and Ronny arrived they were courteous and immediately got to work wrapping my dressers and loading the truck for transport. I was worried about the dressers not fitting into the new place but they carried them in like a breeze. Even better, they were done with 20 minutes to spare. I will absolutely be calling them the next time I need to move, and not just for the heavy stuff! read more

Excellent service and great guy! So reliable and communication was gold standard. Would use services again!

Today was the third time I have hired Movers-For-A-Cause, and once again, I was very pleased with their work. Reggie and his team took great care with my belongings, ensuring that nothing was damaged during the move. They arrived within the quoted window and didn't waste any time getting started. They worked quickly, and even took apart and reassembled my furniture. Based on my anticipated move list, I was quoted two hours and they delivered on this. It's in my nature to try to help, and they gently encouraged me to relax and allow them to do what I hired them for! (which I appreciated!!) I also have two little dogs that are very curious and like to greet new people with lots of barking. They were super patient with the dogs and even gave them some attention to the pups to try to keep them calm while they were here. I highly recommend Movers-For-A-Cause and will hire them again for any future moves. read more

This is a great moving company. Reggie and his team were efficient, fair, and friendly. In every interaction I had with them, they were straightforward, direct, and honest. There were no BS fees, no empty promises, no unnecessary loops, and they took great care of all of our stuff, wrapping carefully, helping with assembly and disassembly. My move took me about 15 miles, in north Jersey, were prices can be steep from some companies. I can't recommend Movers-For-A-Cause highly enough. read more

I can't say enough good things about Reggie and his crew. This is the second time we used them in Bethlehem Pa. last year they unloaded us for a big move. This year they loaded and unloaded for a short move. They are so professional, fun and very efficient. Reasonably priced and worth every penny. I really hope this is our last move for a little while but if we ever have to move again I will call these guys again. read more

I emailed Reggie based on a recommendation from some close friends of mine, and I am so glad I did. From the very beginning, Reggie was personable, professional, and overall helpful, and the rest of his team members were just as great. I needed to move from Fayetteville, North Carolina to Jersey City, New Jersey, and I assumed this was going to be a stressful and expensive job. With Movers-For-A-Cause, it was surprisingly simple and affordable. After this last weekend, I'd recommend this business to anyone. read more

I had to move a piano from New Jersey to western Pennsylvania. I had a hard time finding a company that could help me. I found Movers for a cause on Thumbtack and they were the only company that offered to piggyback my piano on an existing move, saving me an awful lot of money. They were responsive and personable and I wish I could use their service again. Hire them without fear. You will be happy with the service. read more

Reggie and his Men moved my daughter out of state. When it was time for her to move again into her home, she wasted no time and called the Professionals. Movers for a cause. They did her move both times with care and treated her belonging like they were their own. I would recommend movers for a cause 7 days a week and twice on Sunday. They may need a brake by then, but when done you can count on them. I now find myself having to move after 30 years and the first and only people I would trust my family's heirlooms with is Reggie and his Men. Reggie see you on moving Day. read more

Professional, speedy service - and so easy to work with on the details. Highly recommend Movers-For-A-Cause.

This was so easy.. between a call, an email and then, a few days later, an entire apartment was blanketed and gently moved from upstate ny to nj with pleasant and friendly fellows! Organized and efficient! Totally recommend them. read more

It seems I move almost ever year and have done a couple out of state moves which aren't easy, but this is by far the easiest one yet. Movers-For-A-Cause was so good they are officially who I will call the next time I have to move. Reggie was so kind and professional and his crew was friendly, made unloading entertaining and was careful with everything. You will be grateful you booked Movers-For-A-Cause. Highly recommend. read more

I made the move from Queens to Southern California in October and had a wonderful experience with Movers for a Cause. Everything went as smoothly as one could wish for with such a big move. There were no hidden or unexpected costs and no surprises. They packed up my whole place, moved it across the country, and everything arrived right on time with not a single item damaged or lost. On top of flawless service, Reggie and his team were super nice and accommodating. I really can't recommend MFAC more! You won't be disappointed if you hire them for your move, I promise! read more

Finally getting a chance to write a review for Movers with a cause, I booked them a month in advance and for that you do get a bit of a discount, when moving day arrived they were on time and got right to work, they were very professional and very cautious with all my stuff, they really did do their best I had a sectional that was big and they tried but it just wouldn't fit in the new place, that was the only set back not the movers fault at all, I would highly recommend them and if I ever need to move again they will be my first call. thank you. read more

We engaged Movers-for-a-cause to help with a move from a third floor, 2-bedroom apartment. Reggie and his team were professional, quick, efficient, and thorough with the move. They brought the necessary complimentary items and were happy to take more boxes as we packed more things. I highly recommend these guys and will definitely engage them in my next local move. read more

I was incredibly stressed as to finding a moving company move from NYC to Boston- first you have to fill out forms, and then deal with incessant phone calls with quotes, and then deal with trying to gauge who is shady or not, and who you can trust with your items (or not). I actually booked with another company for the move, and had to deal with them having to reschedule 2x prior to the move. I gave up- and finally chanced upon Reginald's team on ThumbTack (they have over 350+ reviews there!) and reached out. Thankfully for me, they were available. Price was fair, and they were a great team. Most importantly, Reginald's professionalism, friendliness, and overall efficiency put me at ease- from making a deposit to the actual move, to even ensuring the furniture/boxes were placed in EXACTLY where we wanted them to be. They were incredibly fast and thorough, even offering to mail me a screw that had fell off while in transit. I would highly recommend Movers For A Cause- with a name like that, how could you miss them? Also feel like I have to put a Yelp review given that they seem to get most of their gigs via ThumbTack- Hire them!! read more

My husband and I hired Movers for a Cause to move us out of state. They were extremely professional, and very funny - they made the move easy and helped us have a good attitude even though we dislike moving. They also gave us good advice on where to put our furniture in our new place. They were on time, efficient, and were the cheapest movers I found! I highly recommend them! read more

We hired Movers-For-A-Cause through Thumbtack, Regi and his team were great. Showed up on time and had us completely moved in and furniture put together from a storage container in less than 3 hours. Reggie helped my husband and me move on 3/4/17. Communication was great leading up to the move and he would get back to me pretty swiftly via email. I was expecting this to go extremely well because he had such excellent reviews on Thumbtack. We were quoted a 2-4 PM arrival window for the move, and Reggie said he'd call about an hour prior to when they'd arrive with a better estimate. Around 3:15 I got nervous because I hadn't heard anything, so I called and called many times before he called back to tell me their first move was taking longer than expected because they "added stuff." He said they wouldn't be at our house until 6 pm and that he'd update me in an hour and a half or so. He never updated me, I had to call him again and again before he picked up to let me know that in fact it was not going to be until 7-7:30 that they could move us. They finally arrived around 7:45 (3 hours and 45 minutes later than the latest time in our window) and completed the move by 10 pm, which was great--they were very efficient. Reggie also added a fourth guy at no charge - we initially only had 3. They were all very polite and friendly too. Reggie also apologized in person. Moving is an extremely stressful thing, and I was getting worried that the move wasn't going to happen because of the lack in communication. I realize the price may be lower because Reggie also moves things himself, so he can't pick up the phone all the time, but I just ask for prompt communication and follow through on your word. read more
