Dr. Caleb Overholser is a phenomenal physical therapist. Been doing CrossFit for 10+ years and so thankful he has come into my lift to help me move, function and perform better. Highly recommend!!! read more

It is my pleasure to recommend Dr. Dan Alcorn for physical therapy through MovementX. I am an older woman two previous physical procedures, consequentially some anxieties with new types of movements.  He was patient, kind, respectful and always encouraging, which I needed & appreciated.   The approach was unique (to me): logical and easy to understand. There is one more aspect - after every session I received a "session recap" message outlining my accomplishments and a list of new movements to  add to my routine.  It was an excellent review and reminder. Recommended without hesitation. read more

Dr. Morgan Petro, physical therapist at MovementX, helped me recover from a torn cartilage, meeting weekly to work on flexibility and strengthen the muscles surrounding my knee after I had an adipose-derived stem cell injection. She used manual therapy techniques, joint mobilization and manipulation, and sometimes cupping therapy. The run analysis and run form retaining, complete with videos and a written exercise plan, helped me heal an allow me to perform injury-free. Dr. Meg Pezzino, physical therapist at MovementX, showed me how to move correctly, stay injury free, and help me get back to running, swimming and biking after a sports-related injury. She used hands-on manual therapy, dry needling, slow motion movement analysis of my run to help adjust my form (posture, gait, stride length), and cupping therapy. These all helped alleviate much of the pain I was experiencing while running. I can't speak highly enough of each PT, and give a strong endorsement to MovementX. I would be remiss if I didn't add that their billing department is extremely helpful, efficiently dealing with insurance reimbursement issues. read more

Michael Jordan (yep, that's his name) was my personal PT for a really bad shoulder injury I received while practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (the injury was an AC Seperation, Grade 1). I went from being on top of my game prior to a BJJ tournament to needing my fiancee to help me take my shirts off because I couldn't rotate my arm over my head. I was about to throw in the towel on recovery due to the severity and injury of the tear, but thankfully I didn't give up and decided to give Michael a ring. Michael gave me the best experience possible - he's nothing short of a kinesiology and physiology genius, knowing what exact exercises and stretches to help strengthen and return movement to my shoulder. In addition to on-site work, he provides 'homework' you can do to help strengthen your injuries in-between sessions with him. I was back to full strength and rolling again within 3 weeks, which is blinding fast considering how much strength I lost in that arm/shoulder. He even addressed a few other random pains I had because he's such a nice guy (including fixing the way I run!). Speaking of being a nice guy, Michael's expertise was only matched by his bedside manner - in more or less words, he's such a cool f*cking guy. Super easy to talk to, shoot the sh*t with, and honestly for some stretches that can be super awkward, he really knew how to make everything casual and chill. Suffice to say I'll never reach out to another PT again (should I ever get injured another time) now that I've discovered Michael, and I can't recommend this guy enough for anybody looking for physical therapy. This guy is the GOAT, the truth, the everything. "MY MAN MJ!" read more

Due to the Covid-19 lockdown, I've been unable to visit my regular gym and pool. So I was extremely lucky to connect with Josh D'angelo at MovementX. We've conducted all of our sessions virtually and I am constantly amazed at Josh's professionalism, caring and creativity. I have multiple issues that complicate any exercise routine, but Josh took a full medical history and conducted a comprehensive evaluation. Based on my needs and limitations, Josh created a customized home exercise program for me, and an online tracker to monitor my progress. I simply cannot say enough about how amazing it's been to work with Josh. I only wish I'd been introduced to him years ago! read more

I was unfortunate to develop a rare neurologic complication called Parsonage Turner Syndrome (PTS) after a viral illness. It left me with some significant muscle weakness and scapular dyskinesis. As a healthcare provider, I was concerned about developing further musculoskeletal problems secondary to this and reached out to several physical therapists trying to find someone who had first-hand experience with Parsonage Turner rehab. Luckily, I found Scott McAfee on Yelp. He replied quickly and was clearly knowledgeable about PTS and had even recently worked with another patient with it. I was also impressed that he completed additional training in orthopedics beyond his PT program. The majority of healthcare providers and PTs have never heard of PTS, so I was relieved to find him. Needless to say, I've now been working with Scott for about 6 weeks and have noticed significant improvement during this time. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we've been meeting via telemedicine. Scott is always on time for our visits, prepared, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with during our sessions. His knowledge and care is evident and I wouldn't hesitate to refer him to my friends and family (and patients). If you're looking for "next level"/truly individualized physical therapy, reach out to Scott! read more

Meredith Black is only the second personal trainer I've ever had, and a total pleasure to work with. She pushes me to do better, and is sensitive to what works and what doesn't for my body. I highly recommend her (and by extension other MovementX trainers) for anyone, at any level. I'm feeling very good about the importance of this personally supervised training, and hope to continue it for as long as I can. read more

I had a fantastic experience with Fred Gilbert. I'm a former competitive Powerlifter looking to get back into it, after suffering a partial tear in my left rotator cuff and abusing my body for years. I've seen a few different physical therapists, some misdiagnosed me, were unprofessional, and recommended coritozne shots which seem to have done more good than bad. Not Fred. In the time I spent with him, he was informative, and developed a clear and sustainable plan for me to reach my goals easily and effectively. He was honest and fair about pricing, and sent me very easy to use resources to get back on track. I'm already feeling better and went the heaviest I have in months on the bench. Looking forward to continuing our sessions! read more

I found out about MovementX through my company. 10 years ago I surgery for a herniated disc. It flared up after I lifted something way too heavy. I chose Scott to help me with some exercises to alleviate the pain. Scott was able to come to me at my office which was super convenient. He set up a nice sturdy table in our wellness room. We went over proper alignment, exercises, and some manual manipulation on my back. I didn't feel rushed and when the session was over I left with so much valuable info. I will be back and I highly recommend Scott. read more

Thank you so much, Dan! I really appreciate your time and effort, and trying to help me out! It's making a huge difference and I can honestly say that it's made a bigger difference in any other time that I've spent trying to fix my neck. I've seen a lot of improvement over the last few weeks and it's awesome! read more

Dr. Scott McAfee is awesome! I have a tricky chronic back injury that causes severe pain, and Dr. Scott has helped me both with the acute pain and with practices that I can employ myself to prevent the injury from re-appearing. The fact that he comes to me is absolutely critical, as my mobility is impaired. He is thoughtful, bright, and so empathetic- he never tries to push me to do something that will trigger my pain. If you have back issues, don't hesitate to reach out to him, he's an incredible resource. read more

I met Dr. Scott at a Chamber of Commerce event and was impressed with his story and with his enthusiasm for his work. It's a great concept: physical therapy in the comfort of your own home! I have neck and shoulder inflammation/arthritis, as well as low back stiffness/tenderness. On his first visit, he did a thorough evaluation, asked a bunch of on-point questions, followed by a massage-type treatment and a stretching routine. He also guided me through (and demonstrated) exercises and stretches to do on my own. The second visit was more of the same, with more intense stretches. read more

I asked for help to Scott about an upper back discomfort. He quickly identified the cause of it (bad position), gave a session to relieve the discomfort, and gave very straightforward recommendations and exercises for maintenance. Good work Scott! read more

Meg Pezzino has been a godsend to me. I've worked with many PTs for my knee injury, and she stands out for taking the time to find novel ways to build stability around my knee and other areas. The same goes for strengthening muscles for my persistent shoulder/back issues. Meg has such a patient and methodical approach. She gives clear instructions during each session and for exercises at home, and is so responsive to questions and concerns. I've recommended her to my husband, friends, and colleagues. I should have given a review here much sooner. I can't recommend Meg enough! read more

I have been training with Meredith since December. I had been looking for another trainer and unable to find one who seemed to be right. Meredith has been a godsend. I have been able to eliminate some pain through targeted workouts. She is able to easily adjust the workouts to accommodate any area needing attention due to soreness, pain or injury. Recently needed knee surgery. Because of the work with Meredith the recovery has been seamless, ahead of schedule and replaced physical therapy. She's a 10 out of 10. Can't go wrong working with Meredith and Movement X. read more

I had a running evaluation with Scott McAfee. He was so thorough, and he provided me both on the spot recommendations for improvement and a follow up comprehensive running analysis/report with exercises to build my strength and speed. My running has improved significantly. I also have had the opportunity to see Fred Gilbert in action briefly. The thoughtful, kind, compassionate approach to his work is top notch as well. I am fully sold on Movement X as a great team of PTs who are totally committed to your health and well being. read more

My sessions with Dr. Dan have been absolutely fantastic. He is a master of his trade. Extremely knowledgeable, very personable, a true professional. Dan has helped me regain my former ability, restored my confidence, and given me a deeper understanding of my shoulder. I recommend him to anyone! read more

I have suffered from upper back and shoulder pain for nearly a year before Scott came along and changed everything! I had bounced around doctors and physical therapists through my insurance and was just not getting the results I wanted. Nobody was listening to the problem and I was tired of wasting time at the doctor's office feeling unheard. I dug up an old business card he gave me at a fair months before and I am so glad I did! After only TWO sessions, my shoulder is feeling better than ever. I had forgotten what a normal functioning shoulder felt like! Scott listened to the problem and spent an amazing amount of time figuring out every detail about what was actually going wrong. I finally had a name for a condition, a plan of action, and a guide who knew exactly how to explain things in a way I understood! Scott's care is convenient (he comes to you!) and he tailors every session to exactly what you need. "Homework" is easy to follow and he provides great visuals to make sure I have the tools necessary to succeed. read more

After years of downhill skiing, snowboarding, and long-distance running, my knees, right hip, and back were causing me so much pain and discomfort that I sought help from an Orthopedic Surgeon. After x-rays, an MRI, and 6 weeks of PT, I was told I was a candidate for bi-lateral knee replacement and a new right hip (at 48 years old!). I was very depressed about this and was almost out of my prescription anti-inflammatory meds (which would not be refilled due to possible kidney/liver damage) and I could not sleep at night because of pain in my right leg. Fortunately my spouse happened upon Fred Gilbert, explained my situation, and Fred offered a free evaluation. After that first visit, I was cautiously optimistic. After the second visit, I stopped taking the prescription meds. After the third visit, I was sleeping through the night. After the fourth visit, I am contemplating running again! Trust me, there is a difference between "conventional PT" and what Fred's company offers, aside from the convenience. During my 6 weeks of conventional PT I saw a different therapist each time. A good portion of my visits consisted of me "warming up" on an elliptical or completing my exercises. Fred does not waste time on this, other than to correct my form or show me new exercises. He spends the full hour on my pain issues and thinks carefully about the best way to target those problems to get me stronger and pain-free. Not surprisingly, I highly recommend Fred and MovementX. read more

I needed help with elbow pain, and was already familiar with MovementX from their excellent Age-Proof Your Body program. When I reached out for PT, they paired me with Emily Harmon, who exceeded my high expectations. Not only did she diagnose what was causing the issue and provide PT and treatment right in my home, but she also had great ideas for how I could work around the problem and keep exercising, while I was rehabilitating the elbow. Highly recommended!!! Thank you! read more

My experience with MovementX was fantastic! I was experiencing shoulder issues caused by a pinched nerve. Fred Gilbert was my physical therapist and he is excellent - I would highly recommend his services. During my initial sessions when I was very nervous about the injury, he was reassuring and positive. He explained everything thoroughly and very clearly, and it was a relief to understand why my shoulder was feeling the way it was. As the sessions went on, I started feeling stronger and seeing results. Thanks for everything, MovementX! read more

I have been to several physical therapists, chiropractors, and orthopedists over the last 2+ years since a lower back disc herniation and none of them were able to explain to me my problem or provide any useful suggestions above and beyond what I already knew. Scott at MovementX, however, immediately provided me with a solid understanding of my pain and why it may be persisting even though I am only in my late 20s and very active, and suggested exercises and movement that nobody had ever told me to do. It is a relief to feel like my PT understands my pain and has the appropriate tools and knowledge to help me recover. Highly recommend Scott - not to mention he is very professional, and the at-home service is very convenient! read more

I have weekly sessions at the fitness center in my condo with Dr. Scott McAfee. We work on maintaining flexibility, strengthening muscles, improving joint mobility, and increasing overall health and wellness. Dr. Scott is knowledgeable, supportive, and adjusts the activities to your individual needs. He clearly cares about his patients. He is helping me keep my rheumatoid arthritis in remission so that I can be an active grandparent. If I could give him more than five stars, I would. He is the best! read more

I observed Meredith Black training a few clients on Gunston Field in Arlington. I was impressed by the rigor and variety of her exercises and the obvious enthusiasm of her clients. I approached her a few weeks ago and asked if she would train me. I'm a seventy five year old man, in acceptable physical shape for my age, but I've lost considerable agility, balance, and muscle in my legs and feet. Meredith came to my home and we have had four training sessions so far. So far all she has had me do has far exceeded my expectations. Her exercise routines are perfectly suited for my needs and are very rigorous. She is a wonderful motivator, and I particularly appreciate her emphasis on proper form. A true test of her skill is that she leaves me motivated to continue exercising through the week from session to session. She is a great trainer and I highly recommend her to any senior who needs to improve his/her physical condition. read more
