Nearing 7 decades of a physical life, I've put a LOT of wear and tear on my body. I've been coming to Full Strength for a while with several areas of work. Every therapist has been effective, some areas are taking more work. I'm writing today regarding the superb post-right shoulder replacement PT. My therapist is Libby Sudhoff, she is more physical than most, and will work at any discomfort to mitigate the pain. I've had 12 sessions with her and only a few more before she goes on to her next traveling PT assignment. I went to Full Strength Physical Therapy for a hip and IT band issue. I saw Katherine (Kit) Stoelk, who is excellent. She is extremely knowledgable, and listened to my concerns. She was able to put together a program that quickly had me on the road to full recovery. The exercises and stretches she gave me were exactly what I needed, and I am back to full strength again. I was referred from my doctor to go to Solutions PT because of a sports injury that made me lose most of my mobility on my shoulder. I had an initial consultation with Natalie, who was fairly new to the establishment at the time. Natalie is extremely knowledgeable, motivated, and approachable when it comes to this practice. She measured my range of motion and checked my strength and saw that both were very limited. I ended up going to PT twice a week and worked with Natalie during the first half of every session, and then the second half would mostly be done with those who assist with the actual exercises. Natalie's soft tissue work is incredible- don't let her petite frame fool you! She is a boss when it comes to making your muscles cry and then feel much better during the week. She's always considerate and asks if anything is painful and if so, she's always quick to dial her strength back! I've also worked with Anthony and Kyler. Both have been such a joy to work with- they really keep the operation going and are great at demonstrating each of the exercises. They are not only knowledgeable, they are approachable, and have great senses of humor. Today was my last session after a few months of PT. I will say, as a patient, you should always be consistent with the exercises you are given. I felt like I improved immensely in a short amount of time, but I also tried to dedicate 30 minutes to an hour each day to do all the exercises I was given by Natalie. That's another thing to note- Natalie is continuously researching and learning new exercises and will have you try them. She's very dynamic in her methodology when creating an exercise plan for you, so nothing stays stagnant. While I'm so happy that I have full range of motion back, I am so sad to be leaving Solutions. I'm going to miss Natalie, and the team very much. I would wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to anyone who has any discomfort or pain. There are so many PTs here to choose from and each have their own flair when interacting with patients. I couldn't be happier to have had Natalie as my PT. I had eight sessions at Solutions for sciatica nerve pain, as part of a two-pronged approach to therapy. Their combination of exercises, stretching, and manipulation, in conjunction with hot/cold treatments really helped me get past the pain and resolve its root causes. Solutions is the best place to go to for your physical therapy needs. One of my good friends, who is a Pilates Instructor, recommended them to me, and since then, I have been recommending my friends. The receptionists are accommodating and greet you with a smile, and will help you with everything. The workout space is a large L-shaped room with plenty of mirrors and equipment. They also have private intake offices. Everything is cleaned after each session including the equipment . The instructors are all knowledgeable and very helpful and patient. It's one of those places you actually enjoy going to for your PT sessions. They have their own app, a portal called Strivehub that is easy to download and not only has a written descriptions of exercises but videos that show you how to practice the exercise steps at home! I will miss going for my sessions, now that I am on the road to recovery. read more

I will start with the positive - the physical therapist I was assigned to was very friendly and presumably very knowledgeable. I wish I actually had spent quality time working with this person. The company operates like a factory. Insurance pays for one hour of PT. Here, the therapist only works with you for 30 minutes or in some instances, 20-25 minutes, and then is rushing to get to their next appointment. As such, I had to choose if I wanted to review my assigned exercises or have an adjustment. There was no time to do both. The physical therapists are scheduled back to back to back. You spend the other half of your pre-paid hour with a technician. This person is not a licensed or trained physical therapist. In my case, the technician was assigned to watch me do my exercises. He was not watching. He offered no advice or suggestions nor commented on my form. My insurance company is paying for one hour of time with a trained physical therapist. This is not what I got. Additionally, the set up is very tight. The main area is extremely crowded and there is no privacy. At one point I was lying on a mat and almost got stepped on. Other clients were walking all around and over me. I gave it a few chances but decided it was extremely stressful and not for me. It is truly a factory-like atmosphere. read more

I've been coming here for several months for my neck pain and Nicole has been terrific. When I first started I really thought I'd have to have steroid shots to my neck but I gave PT a try. My neck feels much better And I'm now in maintenance mode once a week. Nicole is very knowledgeable and spends a while massaging my neck which really works! I was recommended from my Dr for pelvic floor therapy after my surgery, I walked into the Springfield office spoke to the receptionist and the manager came to the front desk and she explained to me that they don't do men pelvic floor therapy but gave me the number and name Christina who is the manager at the old town office in Alexandria Va, well I decided to call before I went in and the receptionist told me yes she would be able to give me three minutes to talk to me so once I got there the receptionist went to get Christina and she came out her door saw me and then told the receptionist she didn't have time and again I was told now she's not sure if she does pelvic floor therapy for men, I ask could I talk to her after she Christina the manager told the receptionist she's got two pt, so I say we'll how about if I fill out the paperwork and I did Christina while talking to her Pt kept looking at me as if she just wanted me to leave so after about a hr of waiting I knew she was never gonna come talk to me the receptionist told me she would look at my paperwork that Wednesday because she's the only person that's qualified to do this type of therapy but she still wasn't sure she knew if she did this for men. I just thought as a manager and the only person that's qualified to do pelvic floor therapy for women for sure you would think if Virgin Hospital referred me to this company they would have more people qualified and the one person the manager would I thought left me with a bad feeling as if she really didn't want me there , I would not recommend going to this Old Town facility because I was told she had been in the business as a therapist for 7 yrs as far as her people skills they are lacking I am a 70 yr old man who's been in the medical field for 38 yrs and the manager for yrs also the lead technologist for many yrs and I never treated people the way Christina treated me, and when I go back to my Dr for a F/U I'm going to ask him why would they recommend Solutions Therapy for that type of care pelvic floor therapy for men after prostate surgery. I said to all men 6ft black I would beware of this practice and Christina the manager, she cannot do both be a Physical Therapist and a manager she just can't do both. Be aware!! read more

This practice is a Godsend! Could not be happier and grateful for the care I have received through this practice, especially from Shira Weiss. If you are struggling with TMJ pain and need immediate relief ask for Shira. Two years ago I underwent a craniotomy for a tumor that was found to have obliterated my TM joint and grew into other areas of my skull. I was hopeless and felt like no one would ever be able to help me relive the pain and have a normal life post surgery. I went to a lot of specialists who said that Botox injections were the only way help manage my pain, that' $500/an injection every 5-6 months. Then I found Shira. Shira not only helped to alleviate a lot of my pain, but she also advocated for me with my surgeons to really find out the cause of my pain and how we could go about treating and managing my TMJ issues for the rest of my life. After undergoing a traumatic event I didn't know the questions to ask my surgeons during my annual visits. Shira helped me in figuring out what my surgery entailed as I couldn't really absorb all that happened to me during this time. Shira took that burden on for me and through her advocacy and diligence she found another doctor who might be able to help me with my post surgery symptoms, in addition the magic she was able to perform. Shira's technique and bedside manners are truly one of a kind. If you are struggling with your TMJ or any other physical ailments for that matter, Shira is your girl. Wow! This is the first time using a physical therapist and I am incredibly glad I found this place (just did a Google search). Megan was my pt and she was so incredibly pleasant and thorough. I couldn't have felt more comfortable. We talked over what I was having problems with and then we went thru a few different steps to pin point my problem. Solutions is by far the best PT place I've been to in the DC area! I would say it's even worth traveling from farther away for them. No other PT place I've been to has ever so quickly identified and immediately started repairing an injury of mine. They are very professional and nice people to work with, including the front desk staff who are organized and don't give you grief even if you're a few minutes late. I have IT Band Syndrome, and on my first visit I worked with Heidi and was amazed at how she pinpointed what needed to be done and how I walked out with less pain than I walked in with. She knew how to target and immediately address the issue I was having. I have mainly worked with Heidi but also worked with Matt and Shira each on one separate occasion when Heidi was out for the week. Matt was very helpful too and he did something else working with the muscle fascia and taping my knee which helped dramatically also. Everyone there is very knowledgeable. I am just basically really thrilled not to be sidelined by my injury any longer... for the first time in the past two years! They have me running again on a consistent schedule. The previous PT place I went to tried to get me running too but didn't have it set up the way they do and I had pain immediately. I really can't give enough accolades to Solutions PT!!! When I signed up for PT I thought it would be me and the PT - not me, two other clients, and the PT. I tried this place for a couple of weeks, but I got tired of either having to wait for the PT to be done instructing another client or sending an assistant to instruct me. One time, I hear the PT hollering to me from across the room because the assistant had instructed me incorrectly - blahhhhh! The final straw was that my 50 minute session was taking me around 75 minutes to complete depending on how long I had to wait for the PT. My insurance company and I are paying for my PT - I think I deserve one on one attention, so I took my business down the street to a PT that did just that - one on one therapy. I came to Solutions Physical Therapy after two high ankle sprains and hairline fractures on the same ankle three years apart, and then two more minor ankle sprains on the same ankle in the 4th and 5th year following. Needless to say, I should've went to PT like seven years ago, so when I showed up here for my evaluation with Tracy Lawall, DPT, my 'bad' ankle was a wreck, and my 'good' ankle was not so good after overcompensating for everything on the other side. If you're reading this, you may be about to go through with PT, and maybe, like many, you're not sure what to expect. So, this is thorough and explicit so that maybe you'll be better prepared. On my first visit, I had an approximately 40-minute evaluation in one of the private exam rooms where she measured my range of motion and did a full history, and then brought me in to the open area to learn some of the basic exercises I'd be doing. She printed me off a full list of my exercises and sent me home with a Thera-Band cut to size and looped for my foot, with instruction to do certain exercises daily. They have Thera-Bands with different strength levels, by color. (I think the green offers more resistant than red.) I scheduled about a month's worth of follow up visits (2x/week) with Tracy there, though Ashley and Kasey (sp) at the front desk can also assist with scheduling. Over the 2-3 months I went in this place once or twice a week, I continued to do certain exercises daily and then would grow and learn new ones at most visits. Usually, each visit started off with hopping up on a table for my therapist to do a sports-style (read: PAINFUL) massage on my tight calves and across my ankles and feet. She continually explained the need for my calve muscles to be loose for my ankle to perform properly, etc. I appreciated getting to learn more about my injury and the big picture so that I could be better prepared to prevent it in the future. Sometimes the exercises feel silly or like they'd be too easy, but they are hand-picked to strengthen certain muscles to help distribute the workload. The other important part of starting a PT regimen is how you'll pay for it. Solutions offers a reasonable $120 self-pay rate for an initial evaluation visit, and then $80 for each subsequent visits. Considering my co-pay was $25 per visit, $80 seemed not too bad. (I have no idea what my insurance is paying for the rest of the visit, though.) If your insurer is anything like mine (United), it will probably require prior authorization every few visits and the constant filling out of a DASH form to demonstrate progress and/or the need for future visits. Luckily, the entire staff, from the front desk staff to the PT aides to the therapists stay on top of this and are involved and aware of the process, so it makes it more or less seamless. The pictures shown are of the old facility, and Solutions has since moved in to a larger space across the way, in 225 Reinekers. This facility has 2 or 3 private exam rooms, 2 restrooms, approximately 6 tables, a treadmill, an upright bike, this thing they call a 'shuttle' for calf raises and leg presses/squats, in addition to steps, medicine balls, weights, resistance bands galore, and lots of other equipment. I just finished up my visits for the year and am doing much better, and am better prepared to prevent future injuries. Tracy and the aides LaVell and Nicole were friendly, fun, and helpful and really made what was a sometimes painful experience fun. read more

I started going to Solutions PT in Nov for issues with my rotator cuff and biceps tendon. We had hoped to strengthen the area prior to my surgery, and we were very successful. I went twice per week before surgery, and continued going twice per week afterwards. Shira was great to work with, and my shoulder feels better than ever! I'm only 3 months removed from my shoulder surgery. During my visits, I felt that I was challenged, but not pushed to hard. I'm sure this helped me heal very quickly. My only complaint would be the size of the facility. Sometimes when I was there it felt crowded. I know that they are in the process of finding a larger space. This will resolve the issue. Although Shira was my only therapist, the entire staff seemed very friendly and knowledgeable. The girls at the front desk were also very helpful with schedule, and taking care of insurance claims. Although another reviewer mentions "$120 for the initial appointment, and $80 thereafter", with my insurance I only paid $15/visit. I'm sure I'll do something else to injure myself, and when I do, I would gladly return to Solutions PT. read more

I make getting hurt while playing sports an art. I recently tore all three ligaments in my ankle while playing soccer. The pain was pretty intense, I was dry heaving on the field. Might have muttered "I'm dying." Wasn't my proudest moment. Doctor stuck me in a cast and I had to endure the worst humanity had to offer riding the metro. No one gets up for pregnant ladies or guys on crutches. After I got the cast off, I was referred to Andy and the team at Solutions. I had my doubts, why couldn't I just pop open a few Youtube videos and train on my own. Well I could have, but what I would be missing out is someone noticing the sublte clues that my body was given off. Andy did a great job of that! More often than not, the clues were me lashing out with a "I can't %&@$ do that right now cause it hurts and I'm @#%$@#% tired" The studio space is kind of weird though. I don't know if it's small or not because I've never been in another PT office. But it's all open so people are walking around doing their exercises wherever there is space. I swear if everyone was in white gowns and the lights dimmed in and out, you would think you were in an insane asylum. Rubbing shoulders against a wall. Jumping up and down in place. Grinding a ball against your calf. Cuckoo. I'm glad that I went to Solutions though because my ankle feels practically brand new. I can't wait to hurt another part of my body once soccer season starts up again. TL;DR Body broken, go to Solutions and fix it. read more

While traveling I sprained my wrist and was freaking out for obvious reasons--hello laptop! Anyway, searched and found this place--they are amazing! They got me right in and helped me throughout the duration of my trip. I'm back in the saddle of work and feeling no pain whatsoever. The people are super friendly, the ambiance is really nice. It's conveniently located right next to a metro and the town of Alexandria is so quaint that it felt more like a vacation than a work trip. Physical therapy to get you going not keep you coming. Andy and his team do great work. I met him at a seminar in the area (this impressed me, because it was expensive and small, and he brought most or all of his team with him). My wife hurt her hand (using a grinder) about a year ago, and had let it fester (bad idea), but I didn't really know anyone in the area I was comfortable sending her to. (In general, most PT's suck - at best you get short term relief, but the underlying problem hasn't been taken care of, so nothing really changes long term.) When I met Andy I was finally willing to risk sending my wife to him; and it's been a few months now and my wife's hand is totally fine. And it is staying fine (getting better than fine) after the treatment. With that success, I risked another referral. This guy hurt his arm doing yard work (or house work), and in literally 1 session he was fine. (To quote the member, "it was like a switch went off and the pain went away.") If you are thinking about a PT, and you're in Alexandria or DC, GO! The point of getting therapy is to then not need it in the future; so do not settle for the cheap and convenient option your doctor may be pushing, go get results. read more

I highly recommend this business to any person in need of physical therapy. I was having a bad experience with the Group that I was using. I researched Christina Smith on the internet. When I called, they were happy to allow me to come in and tour the facility and meet the therapists to ensure that it was a good fit for me before I switched my insurance. I had a lateral release on my right knee and due to the crappy PT I was seeing initially, it took me almost three weeks to get into Solutions. However, they were proactive at getting me in as quickly as possible. After only two visits with Christina, I have seen a huge improvement in my range of motion, activities and pain level. I've been to a handful of physical therapy places. (Apparently I break easily) These guys, though, are the most hands-on and friendliest I've ever worked with. Matt and Nicole are absolutely tops and made the 10 months I was there pretty fabulous. (I worked on a lot of different issues during my tenure.) It's months after I've been and I still miss my regular visits. Not only did they make my shoulder finally stop hurting after a work related injury, but when we moved on to why I couldn't stretch my hamstrings, they solved a problem I've been dealing with for years. Easily took my yoga and climbing to the next level by fixing things that I didn't know were broken, while simultaneously fixing the things I'd originally gone there for. I've been a regular at Solutions for several months now. I have chronic pains due to a spinal curve and have been seeing Andy treating this as well as knee pain. I've seen several PT for my issues and have been extremely pleased with my treatment at Solutions PT. I also get dry needling which I researched heavily before deciding who to see. I've also seen other people for this in the past and truly believe Andy understands this non traditional practice of getting rid of my chronic knots. I love the versatility of treatment I have received. Every visit is something new based on the symptoms I've been having and how I'm responding to the treatment. Not all PT do this so I really appreciate this personal touch. Yes you are in a room with others and have to share half of your time with another patients but I'm comfortable with my understanding of movements and know I will always get more time and attention if I express additional questions or concerns. Would I prefer the 1 on 1 treatment, sure. I've also had this in the past and paid 2x as much out of pocket and honestly got the level of expertise. It wasn't worth it for me. Had rehab work done on a left shoulder SLAP tear and I can't say enough great things about these guys! Excellent team atmosphere, very positive, and technically proficient. Nothing but good things to say and good experiences with my therapist Matt (Matthew Mitchell), his partners in torture Nicole and LaVell, and Ashley for making my appointments. It all started with a torn meniscus. After that was fixed Matt started working on my shoulder that's been getting progressively worse over the years. And in the middle of it all he fixed a bout of vertigo - BPPV (just 'cause I mentioned it) that started a month ago. Nicole makes me laugh, LaVell picks out some good tunes, all while they're following Matt's guidance in administering my torture sessions (-: Just kidding about the torture, but sometimes it hurts so good. I wouldn't go anywhere else. I listen to what's going on with the other therapist and their patients, and everyone at Solutions is top notch and very effective in getting things fixed. And for some reason most of the patients are smiling while it's all happening... read more

If you are looking for Dry Needling, Solutions is the place to go. The Practitioners are brilliant: great at precisely locating trigger points, and expert at exploding them. I first went to Solutions in 2015 for treatment of severe trigger points in my butt and thigh resulting from earlier hip surgery. Now I'm back for treatment of deep, persistent trigger points in the shoulder. If your pain is caused by trigger points, and repeated attempts to resolve them with massage, heat, and injections don't work, you need Dry Needling - head for Solutions pronto! read more

I've had to have physical therapy in the past and now see what a difference there is when comparing that prior facility and Solutions PT ---with Solutions PT being so far superior in every regard. The professionalism at Solutions PT was evident from my first scheduling phone call and has proven true with each visit and with each staff person --- and that includes the receptionists who are friendly and efficient and set a great tone. I am especially grateful to have Shira as my Physical Therapist as she is both an outstanding professional and a delightful individual. Her expertise was evident from our first session --- she conducted a thorough assessment of my shoulder; carefully and clearly explained what she thought were the problem areas; and then outlined the work she'd be doing with me as well as my at-home exercises. I've been making better progress than I could have ever anticipated and I give full credit to Shira. I also want to compliment the professional assistance I'm getting from Abril and Grace, both of whom are terrific at helping me with the exercises I do as part of my sessions at Solutions PT. No one wants to have to go to physical therapy. Having said that, I cannot think of a more professional and friendly place than Solutions PT in which to do so. read more

Let's face it, I am 71 and been to not a few PT sessions. lol I do not expect much, but my PT sessions with Taruna Rijhwani are a big exception. Pinched lower back nerve was disrupting my sleep and put my trip to South Africa in danger of cancelation. She has given me home stretches that work and thanks to her manipulations during office visits I am headed to safari and garden tours! Wonderful. read more
