We love movement gyms. This location is awesome because it has a coffee shop in front with a discount for climbers. It has plenty of climbing options for ropes as well as bouldering. We did a yoga class and the teacher let my daughter be next to me the whole class. That was awesome (she was quiet and stretching along, she's 6). We always have a great time working out here. The bathrooms are clean. The staff are always friendly and helpful. It's a great place for the whole family. read more

I've been to 3 of the DFW Movement locations so far for bouldering and this is in the lead...for my least favorite location haha. To be fair, it seems older than The Hill and Design District locations. When I first walked in I was just overwhelmed by the odor of climbing shoes. I thought it may be due to the front desk where the rental shoes were. Nope, the smell permeated the whole gym. I think due to the lower ceilings and lack of those very effective industrial looking ceiling fans, it feels incredibly stuffy, warm, and smelly. The bathrooms are also far less spa-like than the other two spots. I remember being at the DD location and loving the level of natural light streaming in, this location definitely lacks the abundance in windows/skylights. Also there are far less cubbies for storing your personal belongings as you work through the boulders. Everyone has no choice but to place it on the mats/walkways. The boulders were fine though def seem to have more wear and tear. Overall, I don't think I would come to this location again unless I happened to be in the area. If you are near The Hill and Design District gyms, you'll definitely have a more pleasant experience there. read more

Came here for the first time and tell me why on the board it said a 24$ fee but then they added fees for equipment and gear when I was going to pay and the total came out the be 37$?? The Rock climbing itself was fun but not the rude and "mean girl" act from a lady named Ariel. She kept glaring at us and making comments that just felt hateful. She looked like she hated her job and hated people even more and was just a miserable person. She was very judgmental so if you go here, be expected to be greeted with nothing but contempt and feel like you don't belong. Note: Just know if you come here for the first time without signing up for the classes that you aren't going to be aware of until you are actually inside the place, you can only do like 7~14 "paths" for the rock climbing which are the Autobles. You can't do any other and there's a bunch of little kids who are on it anyways so you have to wait 15 minute For each one. read more

Came here with a few guy from work. It was my first indoor climbing experience and I had a blast. I don't have much to compare it to but they had everything I would expect to see. Kids training, experienced climbers helping the novice. Enough walls that your not waiting to long to attempt a climb. I enjoyed seeing the speed climbers. My sister regularly visits this climbing gym and I've been a couple times as a guest or for one of the weekly promotions (ladies night, student night, two for one--all when day passes are half price at $12). We always really enjoy our climbs, but if you're just starting out, it's definitely good to go with someone who knows what they're doing and can show you the ropes because the orientation was minimal. The place is huge with enough to keep you entertained for at least 1.5 hours. There is something for everyone, beginner or expert, in the sections for bouldering and top-roping (there's even a kids climbing section), and more challenging activities are available such as moonboarding. The staff are always very kind and help facilitate a smooth check-in process. They have been more strict about keeping non-members from entering during member only hours (6-11am). After 11am, it does get somewhat busy even on weekdays. Membership is $75/month, or if you are a student, teacher, or military, it's $60/month. A membership also includes a free guest pass each month. read more

Summit is the premiere climbing gym in DFW, and that status is solidified with the opening of their new Plano location. This place is huge and has everything you'd want from a climbing gym: tons of rope rope, lead climbing, and bouldering. Plus classes are included in the membership. There is also a weightlifting and cardio section, I wish there were more promo pics because I wanted to see it beforehand. They have essentially big cages where you can do squats, bench, etc with all the bars they have up there. Plus free weights, boxes, which are the basics to what you need to lift. There aren't any machines for weight lifting, though, something to keep in mind. There are also a number of row and cycle machines. Then there's a separate room with two glass walls which has treadmills and a stair master. I'm a new climber and I've already met really nice and encouraging people here. I've heard the climbing community is a huge selling point and I'd have to agree. No judgment here as I waffle through my beginner routes. The evenings and weekends are pretty busy so far (not so much that you can't climb) but if you prefer solitude then come during the day and there is barely anyone here. I paid for a day pass with gear (~$22) which is almost half the price of the student membership ($50), but they conveniently let you return the day pass if you sign up for a membership. That's what I did and now they got me hooked on climbing, how devious lol. Membership includes gear rental for the first month (shoes, chalk, harness) while you work on basics before investing in your own gear. Overall, a great place to climb for beginners and experts. Summit as an organization has a really positive and welcoming vibe which the employees embody. If you're looking for a workout (sore arms tho) or just something different to try, I'd recommend Summit. read more

Ariel was the rudest staff we have ever came in contact with. She reminds me of the girls in high school that tried so hard to be cool and now they're adult "mean girls" As soon as we walked in she rolled her eyes at my husband and 2 year old. Then she kept following my husband around saying he was going to steal some chalk.... Why? Because he has tattoos and isn't your cookie cutter type of person? It's so horrible to be treated like that specially with our children around. She made my toddler cry and she laughed and said "he has boogers everywhere" Well yeah you made him cry for no reason. Who is this lady. Why is she so unhappy. My two cents. Treat everyone with respect you never know who is walking through the door and what type of day they just had or what they're going through. Being a mean girl isn't cute anymore. Tattoos or no. Kids or no. Treat everyone with respect. Don't be so nasty and ugly. Do better Ariel. Oh and by the way. The new system is crap. One of the most impressive and larger climbing gyms I've had the chance to visit. Huge lead climb walls, lots of top roping, and two bouldering islands. Lots of variety to the routes, and there is an upstairs area for working out or warming up. I was not expecting the amount of people climbing in this area, that was very refreshing to know how big the climbing population is and that the sport is growing in popularity. read more

New location with lots of options. I was a little overwhelmed by the vast space that this location offers compared to the climbing gym I usually go to. I mainly boulder, so I was pleased with all the walls here, some with steep inclines, others straight up. I went on a weekend, so it was pretty packed. I'm not sure how busy it gets during the weekday, but even when it was crowded, I still got to climb enough to be satisfied with my workout. read more

Summit likes to abuse me. It abuses my shoulders, my arms, my back. Then the Summit Plano location opened. Now Summit's open to abuse my legs and butt! Haha. (I say that because they officially have a lifting section upstairs with barbells and bumper plates. I abuse my legs with squats and deadlifts. :')) Summit is awesome! Grabbed a membership the first week I moved to Dallas after trying out the Summit Dallas (in Lake Highlands) location. The Plano location is brand new as of July 2019. They're clean, have generous padding for the bouldering section, scary omg-imma-die top roping if 55'. Fifty five feet. Yeah. They also offer yoga classes, the aforementioned lifting section upstairs, cardio machines (bikes, rowing, treadmills). What's not to love? :) Also if you get a membership, you can bring in a guest for free once a month. And it includes rental gear for your buddy! Def coming back! She paid attention down to each individual detail and had backup plans just in case. Very professional, accountable, and energetic. It's an okay gym but they don't have AC so avoid during the summer at all costs. Crazy.

By far the best climbing gym in the DFW area. Walls are up to 60 feet tall and there is a huge bouldering area too. Also about 10 ish auto belays if you're climbing solo. Something else that differentiates Summit Plano from the other Texas Summit gyms are the bathrooms and showers here. There are huge changing rooms with curtains, showers with soap pumps, and even towels available for you to try off. Also, this location just looks cleaner than the other Summit locations for some reason. Maybe it's the lighting? I wish I lived closer to Plano because I would come here all the time! read more

Fun for all ages! Lots to do whether you're climbing or there w a climber. They have a second for the littles upstairs. You can do yoga classes, workout and or relax. There are plenty of places to sit and watch. They have TVs and WiFi. Staff is helpful and courteous. Restrooms are both upstairs and downstairs, they also have snacks and drinks and merchandise to purchase. This location is my absolute favorite!!! read more

Everything was thoroughly explained in training and even other members helped me out and it had such an overall friendly environment! Tons of fun. I absolutely love climbing here and come at least 3 times a week. I have nothing bad to say about this place, except my experiences with Ariel. Every staff member here is wonderful and super friendly, but every interaction I've ever had with Ariel has been beyond rude. I often bring in my friends and family because i want them to enjoy climbing. However, anytime she has been there to check one of them in, has said something rude, had an aggressive tone, or straight up accused us of lying. She always has an attitude and I have never seen her in a good or pleasant mood when i talk to her. It feels pointed at this point, and often makes the guests I bring in feel unwelcome. Her attitude is so jarring compared to the rest of the gym because everyone is so happy to help and extremely friendly. If you find yourself at this gym, just try to talk to anyone else. read more

She was EXTREMELY helpful and EFFICIENT, a fine balance. I loved her energy. Went to take the orientation and Mario was extremely helpful and nice as well! It is a magical experience to walk into the Plano Summit climbing location. The open concept and high cieling make the facility both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional for climbers looking to enjoy themselves. Right when you walk in you are greeted with a help desk where you can purchase all of your equipment and passes to climb. For new climbers you will have to sign a waiver and go through orientation. For avid climbers, you may still have to sign a waiver if you haven't signed one at any of the other summit climbing locations this year. This location is beautiful and always packed. However I did not mind because part of the joy in climbing is making new friends, figuring out new problems, and watching others tackle the routes you are attempting. I had very little interaction with staff at this location, but as far as I can tell they seemed to be helpful when customers had questions. Overall, if you love to climb I would recommend checking out this summit climbing location specifically. The other summit locations in North Texas are nice but none have the natural light and amount of space that this location does. This location will not disappoint you. read more

I truly enjoy climbing at all of the summit gyms, but there seems to be a lack of communication between employees and members. I was using the kilter board and moon board when I was cut off by an instructor and a group of kids. I don't mind taking turns or even moving to another section of the gym if I'm asked, but pushing me off of them while I was climbing and being rude about it is not okay. read more

Jennifer was super helpful with my visit at this location. Plenty of room to climb from bouldering to top roping and belaying. My best friend and I had so much fun bonding over rock climbing that we are planning on another time to come back and do it together again. --- Second Visit (9/16)----- Second visit was as fabulous as the first time! Friendly staff and came here to just boulder this time around. I decided to shop for my own pair of shoes. Nick was very helpful with extreme knowledge in answering my questions regarding shoe fitting. I ended up getting the bouldering package and became a member. Came here with a friend who has membership, so he edu-ma-cated me about how weak I am. - Great weekend/weeknight activity for groups/dates/single and ready to mingle. - Super awesome friendly staff who can teach you about bouldering, climbing, safety, and all the equipments in the gym - Lots of climbing options! - Lots of people, mostly younger (high school-college age). But all age is welcome! - Come and get motivated after you see some very lean and fit people. Although strength is definitely not all of it. You must channel you inner monkey to climb, so those nimble and flexible little people (ie not me, who is not nimble, flexible, or strong, or super small, but not super big either) can also excel - Fun time guaranteed. read more

I just recently got into climbing. My friend and his wife are experienced climbers and invited me to try it out. I am completely hooked on this sport. The first gym I went to was Summit Dallas and I really enjoyed it. I went to Summit Plano a couple weeks after and was blown away. This place is so incredibly cool! And a little intimidating. There's so much to it and even though I've been to this gym multiple times, I don't think I've taken full advantage of everything they have to offer yet. I'm not lead certified yet, but I absolutely cannot wait until I'm able to climb the huge wall in the middle of the facility. Really thankful my son and I have such a fun place to climb at. This place gets very very crowded on the weekends so take that into consideration. Mask wearing is optional here but the staff is always masked up. The people who work here are always very friendly, but I will say because of the size and scale of this gym there's not the kind of connection you can establish like you can in smaller gyms. This is definitely a big business climbing gym. Make sure you fill out the waiver online before you visit for the first time to speed up the process. Price-wise it's a little expensive, but considering you're paying for a day pass how much mileage you get with your money is up to you and your level of fitness. Definitely helps having your own gear so you don't have to pay rental fees. Love this place. Can't wait till next time. read more

Unfortunately I can no longer recommend this place since it's been bought out by Movement. We had family in town & wanted to take cousins to our kids favorite place. We came in to pay for 8 kids and planned to buy more punch passes for future visits as usual. Had all new waivers filled out in 5 minutes-not a big deal, but the staff at the front were unable to get even 1 kid checked in after being at the desk for 25 minutes... nobody was apologetic. One guy attempted to help our guy, but still was unable to get us checked. In a woman came up to the desk, appeared to be a manager, but was not concerned nor helpful with the many people struggling with a check in process. i understand they are switching systems, but it appears that there was no training as they couldn't even complete basic check-ins... One of the largest gym I've been to. Just got my membership earlier this month. Lot of routes for people who are into bouldering. Only con is that the place gets easily filled with lot of people every evening and when it opens during the weekend. I usually like climbing early in a gym when there's less of a crowd.
