I am a first time home buyer I got a recommendation by my agent (Matt Dubas) to use "Move Home Inspections" for my inspection. My inspector name was Chip Lisk. He was a nice guy. His credential appeared credible. But he MISSED A CRITICAL piece in my report. My home was FULL of COCKROACHES. They were in inside and under all kitchen appliances: refrigerator, dishwasher, range and the outlets for the receptacles and switches. Chip L. license says he is qualified inspector as well as a pest inspector. So my wife and I had confidence in his ability to detect and id if there would be any pest like cockroaches. I researched online on how this pest counld have been identified. It was simple as looking behind the refrigerator and examining the floor an looking on wall for small black drops (cockroach poop) and cockroach skin/eggs. We had a pest terminator come out and identified then. He said the same thing. That you need to look behind the refrigerator and open a few outlet covers. You can even see the poop droppings on the receptical them selves. * I cant believe a professional could have missed these standard identifiers.. His report was well done but this critical missing piece has costed by numerous hours and around $6000 in expenses * I took a lot of clear pictures. We had a pre-inspection done for a home we recently purchased. After we moved in, we found out that the plumbing and electrical hookups for the washer and dryer are not present and we had to pay $1400 out of pocket. This is something that should have been caught on the inspection. Especially since we were there when the inspector looked at it and all he said is that the dryer needs to be vented. He didn't say a thing about the lack of hookups, and it's not in the inspection report either. Our real estate agent reached out and Dan Urquhart completely denies any responsibility, meanwhile, we're stuck with a $1400 bill for something he should have caught on the inspection. Update: Move Smart Home Inspections has reached out to me, and we have reached a compromise. Both parties consider this matter closed after reaching mutual agreement. read more

This dude, Dan (inspector), knows his stuff... he was already verbally calling out items that he wanted to delve into from the rear of his truck while getting his gear ready. The most significant things to me that elicit the 5 star rating were: 1) He told me I could tag along to check things out with him and ask any questions I may have. 2) He was extremely thorough... covering every inch of the roof to every single outlet, to every inch of the crawl spsace. 3) Even though I slowed him down with all of my questions, he still had a 25+ page report with photos and graphics that point to specific portions to show exactly where to look... all within a few hours after the inspection. I have a house I'm selling and wanted a home inspection on. Found this on Groupon and decided to call before I purchased it. Good thing I did. If you are the buyer, then they will honor the Groupon for $100. If you are the seller, however, the SAME EXACT INSPECTION will cost you $350. For the life of me, I can't wrap my brain around the logic of that. It's the SAME EXACT INSPECTION. Nothing is different except the name on the bill will be the seller not the buyer. Inspector going to the same house, looking at the same things, taking the same amount of time. Just because a different person is paying they charge $250 MORE?? No thank you.
