Barefoot Coffee Traders - Mocha. Suppose to be their most popular. Chocolate was so fresh along with the smooth blend of espresso.

Such good iced coffee. And I'm not talking about the delicious, creamy atrocity Aussies call iced…read morecoffee, I'm talking about coffee. With ice in it. It's an art, people! (They also have an 8-hour cold drip should you so desire.) The shop is tiny, but if you're lucky enough to snag a stump you'll be privy to some of the most amusing customer conversations. Hungry? They were whipping up waffles last time I was there. But don't get your tastebuds in too much of a tizzy, it's just waffles, so if that's what you want, consider yourself a winner. If not, well, tough luck. But let's be honest, you're heading here for the coffee because it's undoubtably Manly's best, whether hot or cold. And hey, I'm sure they'll even put the ice cream in there if you ask nicely. Just don't ask for decaf. Or larges.

Waffles with optional chocolate. Because they do it simple, they do it well. The waffles are freshly made as you order. The chocolate is freshly melted Belgian chocolate. The coffee is either their standard blend, or a single origin that rotates every few days - and they are fastidious about how they make it. The actual café is just a hole in the wall with a few boxes & logs that serve as stools. The popularity of this spot ensures an intimate buzz and more often than not, a friendly conversation with the locals. Well worth a visit.

I went with the classic açaí bowl, which was so refreshing. They had run out of one type of berry, and added extra strawberries instead, which I was delighted about as I love strawberries. My sister had a mint coconut bowl, and she loved it as well; and was also surprised by how filling they were! I tried hers as well and the flavors really shined through- very balanced, not overly sweet, and it was real mint, not cheap mint flavoring. Which we had one of these guys here in California

Upon my return visit now Manly is flush with acai bowls and standalone acai bowl places. Bare Naked and Acai Brothers (newly opened) co-exist within 100m of each other. I had seen Bare Naked's beautiful bowls on Instagram and friends' feeds for a while and had been dying to try. Well - they did not disappoint. I came here last Sunday with one of my good friends. It was pretty busy and they had a only a few seats out the front. We managed to snake one end of a four person table and I went to order. My friend got the Naked Bowl and I got the Hippie Bowl. It took as quite a while to decide because the menu is rife with options. There were 8-10 acai bowls, smoothie bowls and more. Plus coffee and kombucha on tap (yassss). The girl at the counter told us it would be about a 15-20 minute wait because of all the take out orders. When the bowls came I was impressed. They were beautiful, full of toppings and a really decent portion for the price. I proceeded to snap a few pics (with the table's strategically placed potted cactus) for my Instagram later. Hipster chic on fleek (is 'on fleek' stlll a thing? Well, whatever...I'm using it ironically anyway...and plus...it rhymes!!). Then we dug in...heaven. I soon found myself knee deep in a blissful acai bowl food coma and my friend and I enjoyed a long conversation with a pleasant British bloke who joined our table later on (he managed to finish his bowl before I did). My tummy was very happy with me for hours later. Bare Naked definitely lives up to the hype and is good value for money, especially when compared with the other acai bowls around these parts. I shall hopefully be back again before I leave and will then continue to salivate over their Instagram posts from afar. Such is life.
