The redesign of my small yard was not only expensive but an epic hassle from day one. I can't possibly write a short synopsis of all the things that went wrong, but the highlights are: -Total disregard for original budget -Scheduling problems -Contract disputes -No recollection of previous discussions -Stolen property -Irrigation lines placed incorrectly resulting in damage to plants/trees After 3 months the irrigation is still not installed correctly--ironic that another reviewer complained about the same issue. I don't make many mistakes, but hiring Mountainscapers was one of them. We initially hired Sean to design a plan for our yard. We were very clear on our vision and he delivered that vision precisely. The drawings were creative and presented in a very professional format. It cost $1,000 and we felt that was money well spent. We decided to hire mountainscapers to implement the design. The work was done on time and according to schedule. We did have a few design changes during the process and they were flexible with those changes. At the end of each day, the yard was cleaned up and never appeared to be the mess we had envisioned during the process. 1) Irrigation system - they installed our drip system. Before the project was complete, I had already found two leaks - which, they fixed. Unfortunately, over the next 3 months we developed two more leaks. It was pointed out to me that the tubing appeared "aged" and "left in the direct sun" and was "cracked" when installed. Further, we purchased a new time, but it had black marker writing on the inside and it was clearly used and from another property. I hired another company to fix these issues. 2) Within 2 weeks of completed, our first palm tree died. They replaced the palm, but charged me $250 because this was a "larger palm" than what he initially installed. Within 3 months, we had two other palm trees die and two other trees fall over onto the ground without a storm. I was told we were outside warranty and he attributed the palms dying from the cold winter - which we had wrapped and cared for appropriately. 3) Plants/Groundcover - 80% of what was planted dead within 5 months. I hired a professional horticulturalist to evaluate the work and help me salvage my investment. She was very clear that the Palms/Trees and plant selection was completely wrong for our area. Tree's were not planted or staked correctly and watering system that was designed on separate valves were severely flawed. I emailed this company twice about all of these issue and never once received a response. Further, they emailed me a survey which I outlined all of the problems and heard nothing back. In the end, I probably have lost about $25,000 based on this company poor judgement and workmanship. Your yard will look good when they leave, but certainly don't plan on it looking that way past their warranty. Let them design your plans, but under no circumstances would I hire them to do the work. Be smarter than I was and hire professional along with a professional horticulturalist to oversee the Plant/Tree selection and to ensure the drip system is designed according. read more

Not only is my yard picture perfect they were very professional, never left my place a mess, always had things organized and picked up. I would like to start with disclosing that this company has not worked on my house. I met them at a home show and they called me to set up an appointment to quote me for backyard landscaping. We scheduled the appointment to meet at my property. On the day of the appointment the estimator called me to cancel. We reschedule for the following week. He came on on time and met with us and we discussed our budget and ideas. He then told us he would have a quote ready by the beginning of this week. After the week goes by, I emailed the company to ask where is the quote. I get an email response stating they discussed a $200 "design package". So I reply, there was no such discussion. I get no reply. I then emailed the company again to let them know I have not received a response. I then get a reply that they are sorry for the delay and decided to pass on my project. I'm sure they do nice work, but the communication is terrible. It would have been nice if they just told me they were passing on my project last week. read more

He offered to do a design plan for $1,000 which would be mine to keep, so if I didn't go with Mountainscapers, I could use the design with another company. My wife and I were looking to develop an outdoor space for a 14 year old house. I had three bids, talked with several contractors on options using natural organic material. Was ready to give up, but have 10 weeks we finally met Sean. He heard what we wanted, steered us to an existing design in his portfolio. Within 1 week we had an agreement including design, material, color,... The crew was very knowledgeable, started early, and handled the details. We had one moment of decision making but did not lose a step. I believe there were three material deliveries, one the crew refused because it was incorrect. Worked in the excessive heat and when they left the place was neat and clean. The end product is fantastic, awesome, ... It fits perfectly into the architecture of the house. It looks like the structure always was there. The materials captured our intentions within the project and was right on budget. It was a great pleasure for my wife and I to work with Sean and his team. The result is approximately 700 sq. ft. of patio space that we love and will continue to enjoy as it develops over the years. We reached out to Sean nearly 8 months ago for a concept to re-do our backyard. We instantly loved his ideas and a few months later we were able to start work on our yard. He addressed issues that came up (as we have an older property) and fixed them immediately. He is an artist and what that means is as he works in/with your yard he'll think of things that will look good in your yard-he'll come to you with suggestions. He will allow you to decide whatever you want with his new suggestions... (some stuff we did add, some we didn't) and he never makes you feel pressured about it. BECAUSE he is an artist and is working on site he doesn't always have the contract ready so just double check it and if there is an oversight he will address it and fix it quickly. We love our backyard; it has ample play space with grass for our toddler and also some really awesome adult features (fire-pit and pool deck) that he did! I highly recommend this company! read more

If you are looking for a full-service, dependable company to design and install an "award winning" outdoor living space, look no further than Mountainscapers. After receiving several bids, I chose them because of their incredibly creative proposal to turn my dirt pile of a backyard into an "island oasis" - complete with an incredible shade structure (made with hand-scraped Ponderosa pine), a "deal of the century" waterfall feature, gently sloping grass area flanked by an incredible garden and an expanded patio. The proposal was fantastic -but could they actually deliver on their promises? Amazingly, they did! In fact, they "exceeded expectations" and stayed within budget. The real bonus for me was that the owner, Sean, contacted me several times afterwards to make sure I was happy. I was happy - and I'm guessing you will be too. Sean, Tony (the project manager) and their crew of five guys are head and shoulders above any other contractors I have worked for.
