I agree with others that had bad experiences with excessive pricing and charges. Do your homework before you get involved with this company. There are very good, customer oriented companies that provide quality work for significantly less money. I had a service contract with Mountain View Heating to clean and maintain two gas fireplaces that we use for heat to support our heat pump during cold weather. We got a "discount" by writing a check for $460.80 for two years. This two year service contract also provides a 10% "discount" on parts and labor. During the last servicing of our fireplaces, I was told that we needed to replace a thermocouple in one of the fireplaces. The service technician said the cost would be $192.87 with my discount - list price was $214.33. While this seemed unusually high, I wanted the unit to work properly and agreed to proceed. After paying the additional $192.87 for a 5-10 minutes replacement, I checked the cost of the part online. The exact part was available for $15.99 to $12.88. Needless to say, I was not happy and called the company to question the charge. The service department could not help me, because "this was the industry standard charge". The General Manager could not help me for the same reason. I then requested to talk to the owner, Buffy. She proceeded to tell me that if I did not have a service contract, I would have been charged $99 for an evaluation and $214.30 for installation - a total of $313.30 for installing a $16 part. I suggested that there are many skilled technicians that charge a lot less. Buffy would not yield and inch and finally suggested that we end our relationship by she refunding the final year on my contract. While somewhat surprised, I gladly accepted her offer. We bought their service contract for heating and cooling checks. Assumed that would cover a new air filter for the HVAC on their yearly visit. WRONG !!! They charged us $49.00 for a new filter which I could have bought at Home Depot if I had known I would have been charged such an exorbitant price! I will not be renewing our service contract and I will not be recommending them to anyone locally! Shame on you! read more

I am really happy that I chose Mt. View over two other companies that gave me bids for a complete HVAC system replacement. Steve did an excellent job of assessing our home and advising the system requirements that would meet our needs. He also did a great job in explaining the reasons for what he advised. I was also extremely happy with saving over $5K for a similar system over the competitors. Those are the main reasons why I decided to go with Mt View. Then, I was really impressed with the installation job performed by James, Randy and Nick. They worked really well as a team and surprised me by finishing the job in one day, without cutting any corners. One issue that I really wanted to get fixed was that two bedrooms and bathrooms on the far side of the house had very little air flow with the original system. Steve recommended that I have the ducts Aerosealed and then he would have the guys install jiffy dampers and rebalance the system after installing the new equipment. Randy, James worked with me in the house to identify what vents to reduce airflow in order to get more airflow to the "low flow" rooms while Nick was under the house adjusting the dampers. I was blown away that they were able to get good air flow to the "low flow" rooms as well as reducing air flow in rooms that really didn't need much. I am extremely happy with how quiet the Daikin air con unit is as this was a must because it sits next to the hot tub and just below our deck. Now I don't hear the new air can at all when we are on the deck. Now I only hear my neighbors load air con. I am extremely happy with Mountain View Heating Inc and the Daikin equipment that they installed. read more

I live in Three Rivers and have used Mountain View for servicing my 2005 Lennox unit since 2016. With minor repairs mounting and propane much higher than electricity rates, I contacted MV and arranged a consultation with Steve to discuss a new Daikin VRV heat pump and air handler. Three weeks later, I'm very happy with new unit and can't say enough about Steve in Sales, Randy the installer, and Kasey the field tech, as well as those who assisted them. The VRV heat pump is much smaller, fitting under the eaves away from snow avalanching off the metal roof, and the entire system hums vs. roars like the old furnace. Randy really paid attention to detail outside and inside my garage. He also was very proactive in installing a wind deflector on my chimney after I mentioned backdrafting had occurred. He simply made it happen in the same timeframe as installing the VRV. Kasey came by today to service a gas fireplace and gave me additional advice and guidance on using the VRV. Now I just have to await my electric and propane bills to see how the VRV performs. What a a truly friendly, professional, responsive, trust-building group of folks at Mountain View. read more

We have had a new Lennox Furnace with Heat Pump & three thermostats installed by Mountain View Heating. We have had nothing but problems with the units since they were installed. The thermostats went out on day one & have not functioned since, continuously losing the programs. We have had to replace most of the parts including the compressor, have had the furnace go out during the coldest weather, have had numerous service calls ...ALL THIS AT OUR EXPENSE, INCLUDING THE COMPRESSOR.. Last week had them come back out ($89) for the same problem we had before they installed the new compressor last spring $1200). I would advise anyone needing a new furnace or service work to avoid Mountain View Heating. read more

Good company, but want to share my experience. We've used Mtn View for years. Mainly for annual routine service. Good work. Nice people. They wear shoe booties in the house, which is a nice touch. They replaced a gas valve on one of our two furnaces last year. Cost was $520 (not including the $100 initial visit fee). Same exact part needed replacement on our second furnace this year. Payed them another $100 to come out to diagnose the same issue. This time the estimate came in at $650. Questioned Mtn View about it. They said pricing for the part had gone up. Did some homework online, and got a second bid from Cascade Heat which came in at $236 for the same exact part and labor. Had it installed in just a few days by CH. The service tech was in and out in 30 minutes. Great job by CH. Literally mystified by the price difference. Very disappointed that I didn't get a second bid before I used Mtn View the first time around. An expensive mistake on my part. I've always heard Mtn View was pricey, but had no idea they were 2-3 times more expensive than other good companies in Bend. read more

Worst technician ever! A service nightmare. They came to repair our heater that had been serviced by them 2 months earlier during our escrow process. The heater had the same problem the sellers of our house had paid them to repair. The technician was not happy when I wanted to watch his work. I wasn't really watching I was inquiring as to why the unit had the same problem. He came to be first with 1 quote and then 20 min. later with another higher quote, double the price. Feeling I had no choice, I had him do the recommended work and then found out from the previous owners this is exactly the work they had already paid for. When I called Mountain View a week or so later to discuss with a manager they were very rude and did not return my calls for over a week. I pursued and finally got a call back 2 weeks later. I will never use them again. They lied to us about the heater maintenance work previously performed. Really good at scamming new owners is my lasting impression. read more

I have used Mt. View Heating for years. I had a furnace installed from them in my own home. They generally have great service and TV commercials. So when my elderly Mother's heating went out I strongly suggested her to use them. They came out and quoted nearly $4700 to replace a furnace in her 1400 square foot house with a 93% efficient furnace. I was shocked with the quote so I asked her to get another quote from another reputable Bend heating company. I felt like they were trying to take advantage of her and make a big score as she was elderly and without heat! She called Cascade Heating. Cascade promptly came out and gave from her a quote install a new higher 94% efficiency furnace (same BTUs as Mt View furnace) installed for $1900. A whopping $2800 less in total cost. That is a huge amount of money difference for someone on a fixed income! Cascade Heating installed the new Trane furnace with no issues quickly and it works great. The job was inspected by the city. I am still shocked on the price difference with the same warranty on install work and furnace. I have no proof of it but I feel like she was being gouged for being a Sr. Citizen or someone that was without heat. Before going with Mt View for anything, I strongly suggested getting another quote from Cascade Heating or another local Bend/Redmond heating company. There might be enough savings from another company to have a family trip to Hawaii! read more

We have been customers of Mt. View Heating for over 10 years. From service to sales, accounting and installation, this company has been the most incompetent and money seeking company that we have worked with in our home. Sales: Because we live in Sunriver Resort, we were price gouged and bullied by an incompetent sales representative who insisted that we purchase a $9000 furnace for our home ( the $2000-5000 units would "not" do). He struggled to answer logical questions and insisted that the new furnace would save us $1000's of dollars in the long run, thus the initial higher expense. Owing to his aggressive treatment of us, we complained to management who were indifferent to our concerns stating that he is one of their top selling reps. Clearly they are rewarding these sales people for amount sold rather then "customer satisfaction". Ultimately, because our older furnace was installed by them, we surrendered to the $9000 unit. We have saved less then $10 a month over the past 5 years!! Absolute ripoff. Installation: The small flu (PVC style piping) that juts out of the roof was left white for over a year and a half despite the multiple calls we made to complain about how terrible it made our home look (we have a grey house with black roof and trim). They would go round and round about how someone was going to come out, then months later say someone did this and that... It wasn't until I threatened them to give a bad review online that a guy finally came out and painted it- over a year and a half later! Accounting: In order to maintain the warranty on our $9000 unit, Mt. View Heating requires one of their technicians to come out each year and service it for $149. If you don't pay them for this service, your warranty is null and void. While this is an obvious racket, I have diligently paid for this service to protect the warranty on my unit. In 2012, I paid for this service by check and they cashed it within 2 business days. About 2 months later, I received a call from accounting saying they were going to send me to collections because I had not paid. I immediately stated that the check had cleared my account, so they needed to go and re-look at their bank records. About a week later, a different account person called and said that she had "lost" my check and she was so sorry, but please send another. I again asked her to go to the bank and research the cashing of my check as I have bank records and Mt. View Heating's stamp on the back of the check. Another month went by and I received a notice that the bill was going to collections, upon which I called and got upper management at Mt. View. Heating on the phone. I was VERY clear with them about all of the concerns I had with the company, and how this was the final straw. She was confrontational and defended her accountant saying that "Sometimes these things happen, and its not always easy to find a "check number in the bank records." I was shocked! I was then very clear about Mt. View Heating's lack of integrity and that I was prepared to go to the BBB. She then suddenly became very apologetic and tried to sooth my frustrations. She then admitted that they had indeed found record of my check and that they were sorry. I was horrified that I had spent hours of my time dealing with such a incoherent management and seemingly shifty accounting. Service: We have had several problems with the $9000 unit! Within the first year a major component of the unit broke and while it was "under warranty" the technician presented me with an over $200 bill for his "time". I was aghast as I had spent well over $12,000 on the unit plus installation and it had not even worked for a year without breaking. We went round and round with the technician, and it wasn't until I had him look at the then still white flu (almost a year later at that point) to get him to "wave" his service fee. Since that time, we have had to call them out for problems, and they always tell me that I will have to pay them $150 up front to have them look at the unit. I am NOT treated as a valuable customer, despite all the money I have given them over the past 5 years. At the 4 year maintenance service, the technician wrote down that the unit was 8 years old and no longer under the warranty, and therefore we needed to pay for parts! When I called management about this they said "He must have looked at the date on the unit, perhaps the manufacturer date?" I firmly stated that they need to have their technicians look at the "installation" date when they determine warranty information as I was again wasting my time following up on their mismanagement in order to avoid unnecessary costs. In all my experiences with businesses, including contractors, manufacturers, and appliance companies, I have NEVER dealt with such crooked and incompetent employees as with Mt. View Heating. I called the office as a referral from a local fireplace dealer for our 12 yr old propane fireplace repair. My brand is not commonly installed in Oregon and I had been told by other HVAC services that a diagnosis would need to be made, a part ordered and a second visit to install it. Since the house is a second residence and we are not there often, this was problematic. In addition to the fireplace repair, I had tried three years ago to get a routine service on our HVAC system and was cancelled by the company when a cold snap hit and their technicians were too busy to do a service. When setting up the fireplace repair I mentioned our need for a HVAC service. The office staff at Mt View was very helpful with our timeline and needs and sending the most qualified tech for the fireplace and HVAC. The technician was very thorough and repaired the fireplace on the spot. He walked us through our HVAC system and future maintenance suggestions. He logged all details about our fireplace and HVAC system for future reference. It is a huge relief to have our system checked over. In the freezing temps it would be a disaster if we lost heat in the house. I highly recommend this company. I was able to pay with a credit card and received an email receipt. read more
