    Shortly after being diagnosed with a partial posterior vitreous detachment, I experienced a second…read moreepisode that completely eliminated vision in my right eye. I returned to Retina Associates of Utah, where the original diagnosis was reaffirmed, but I was advised to "come back in two weeks" without a clear explanation for the sudden loss of visual acuity. Seeking further evaluation, I consulted two retinal specialists in Texas. Both identified a vitreous hemorrhage associated with the detachment and expressed concern that the hemorrhage prevented a clear view of the retina, making it impossible to definitively rule out a retinal tear or detachment. Given that risk, they recommended an urgent vitrectomy. The surgery was successful. My vision was restored, and the retina was confirmed to be intact. Based on this experience, I am concerned that the seriousness of my condition was not fully recognized during my visit to Retina Associates of Utah. The recommendation to wait, despite a complete loss of vision and an obscured retinal view, did not align with the urgency expressed by the specialists who ultimately treated me. For that reason, I do not plan to return to this practice for future care.

Macular Telangiectasia is the eye disease that makes one go blind slowly. The Dr's at Retina Associates are caring, and knowlegable on so many different eye problems. If anyone in your family suffers from any kind of eye ailment I definately suggest you go to Retina Associates. They have several locations in Utah, and are always there to help.
