I have been going to Dr. Humphreys for years, and while I always found the eyeglass prices to be…read morehigh, my insurance covered 80% of the exam, and I felt Dr. Humphreys was excellent. This year I retired. I was not sure if Medicare would cover any of the exam due to my eye condition so I asked how much the exam would cost if they didn't. I was told that it would be $112, so I was fine with that and made an appointment. Before I left I paid $40. The billing person submitted a bill of $260 to Medicare. That is 2.3 times the price she quoted me over the phone if Medicare didn't cover it. The bill I received from Dr. Humphreys office showed a credit of $65.01 from Medicare, (even though the billing lady insisted that they paid nothing, and that they had just taken that much off of the allowable amount) and a remaining balance of $154.99 that I owed. I ended up paying $194.99 for an exam that would have only cost me $112 if I had not given them my Medicare card. They got the extra $83 from me, and lost a patient. I will miss the services of Dr. Humphreys, but I will not be returning. I specifically asked about the charges and explained I was now on a fixed income before ever making the appointment. How disappointing!

Got the wrong prescription. Been waiting for a refund for over three months. Can only get the…read moreright prescription if I restart my appointments . Even though they got it wrong. So I have to pay out of pocket to do that because my Insurance won't pay again until next year. Every time I call to ask about refund i get put on hold for 20 minutes and tell me to check my e mail. I have checked multiple times. Not impressed . So frustrated . Hopefully they can figure it out. But I wouldn't refer anyone here .

My daughter left here sobbing! Her glasses that she purchased there kept slipping down on her nose…read moreso she went in to have them adjusted. The girl broken her frames in two places and told her there was nothing she could do about it because the store policy is that they can't guarantee them if they break them!! Really?? What company can do that? She was then told the only thing they could do was offer her 50% off on new frames and she would have to pay for a new prescription. My daughter had to go to another company immediately to get new glasses, since those were her only pair. I can't say enough about how terrible Standard Optical is. STAY AWAY from the Standard Optical in Harrisville, Utah!
