In 2016 my wife and I selected MSK&B to redo our entire 'contractor-grade' kitchen in our 1991 home here in Sandy. We received bids from at least four local contractors, settled in on a final two, and ultimately picked Mountain States to do the work. Not only did they refinish our entire kitchen, but they also re-did our vanity in our master bath and our vanity in our guest bathroom as well. That was eight years ago. Now, we can honestly say that Mountain States did a wonderful job on our kitchen and both of our bath vanities. Honestly, I'm surprised that I didn't give them a write-up back then...but I am doing it now. And I'm also doing it now due to some recent service they provided to our kitchen slide-out drawers. In fact we make it a habit to always visit the MSK&B displays at all of the Home Shows here in Sandy. We did so again a few weeks ago for the Fall Home Show, and ended up speaking to one of the sales ladies working the booth. We explained to her some issues we were having with a few slide-out racks, and specifically the 3-level spice rack to the side of our range. She said she would get in touch with us...and she did! We don't remember her name but we did get a call directly from Natasha. I called Natasha back the other day and explained what we were looking for, and she came out Wednesday. She arrived on time and proceeded to address the spice rack issue (there was a problem with the sliders that she fixed) and inspected at least six other racks for us. She lubricated all of our pull-out sliders and now everything is working great! The best part is that all of this inspection, repair, lubrication, and adjustment service was FREE. Yes, after eight years Mountain States really came through and provided some needed service to long-term - and very satisfied - customers. Thank you! They started out amazing. Jessica helped with choosing cabinets and countertop options that matched the flooring we had already picked out. An appointment was set up to measure the kitchen the following Monday. I received a text that morning canceling and telling me they couldn't come and measure any time that week. I texted back with options. No reply. I texted again the next day, no reply. I called and there was not answer. Left a voice mail, no reply. Called one more time with still no response. It has now been over a week with absolutely NO CONTACT! If that is how they reply before they even have my money, what kind of response can I expect if I have a problem. Now I am 10 days behind and have to start over somewhere else. Super frustrating! read more

Like another reviewer, our cabinets were falling off their hinges a year after we bought them, apparently their screws were to short. They came out to fix them, but it was hardly worth the hassle. Verify with the company their warranty before doing business. The prices were excellent though, custom made and slightly cheaper than Home Depot. read more

WORST company to do business with. owner Jeff was condescending and dishonest and when we went to pick up our deposit after he refused to finish our work, he cowered in his office and refused to come out to speak to us. When everything goes smooth, you often get a smile and good service. The real measure of a company is when glitches happen and how they handle those. We dealt with Graham Spedding and he did a fantastic job of making sure everything turned out right. There were a very small problems on install and he made sure they were all taken care of to our satisfaction. read more

I just got big timed and treated as a nuisance. So, I just walked into the Mountain States showroom to ask about a custom sized vanity I need for my master bathroom remodel. First I was asked if I had an appointment. I told them I did not. I was then directed to another older gentleman who asked what I was looking for. I told him that I needed a custom walnut vanity made at a non-standard width. He told me that I should've called first and that they are really busy and that they have a $2,500 minimum. Before I was able to tell him that I have three bathrooms and a laundry room I'll need to have cabinets built for, he told me that I should "go check at Chris and Dick's." When I asked him if he knew if C&D's offered non-standard custom sizes he said that he didn't think so, and then went back to what he was doing before I walked in. Nice. Less than helpful and insulting to boot. I get being busy. Telling me that I should make an appointment so that they can properly speak with me would have been perfectly acceptable. I'd never do business with this company. read more

Back in February (8.5 months ago) we ordered cabinets from them for a kitchen we were remodeling. Fairly reasonable bid considering granite countertops are included. However, jerry was really condescending and treated me like I was dumb when I had questions, concerns and comments when he came to give me a bid. When I went to drop off a check (that was blank when I walked in, not knowing the exact amount I owed: +/- $20), Jerry informed me that I was lucky he didn't scam me with a higher number. Congrats on being an honest businessman I guess? I'm a woman, and he acted like I was less-than who would be gullible enough to write a check for any number he threw out. (And then asked me to thank him for being honest!) Fast forward 8 MONTHS LATER, the cabinets arrived and were installed really well. But after being told they're "6 weeks out" for the last 6 months, I was less enthusiastic. Great product, unacceptable wait, and unacceptable treatment from Jerry. read more

I was so excited to work with this company after meeting them at the home show and researching the reviews. Jerry came out and we talked to him about the gorgeous finish they had at the show. He put our bid together with us while we sat there and when he got done, I asked him if he remembered that finish. He said "Yes, that's what I quoted you for". Thinking maybe he didn't understand, I clarified that I only wanted that finish on my island. He told me that all finished cost the same. It seemed weird why he would have quoted for one and then suddenly they were the same price as regular paint. It didn't feel right, so the next day, my fiance called the showroom and Graham told him that indeed, the custom finish costs more. So if we were quoted based on all the cabs being that, then clarified we only wanted it on one cabinet...wouldn't the quote be different? Nope. Not at all....after waiting for a call back and review of the quote from the owner or manager, turns out our bid is for the custom finish price, with regular painted cabinets. It all seems very sketchy to me. Their cabinets are beautiful and their finishes stellar. But they have a long way to go with consistent information and truthfulness before I would ever spend $20k with them to redo my kitchen. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about Mountain States and my kitchen go to guy Jerry! My brand new kitchen is all that I wanted it to be. The company is amazing, each member just fabulous. My cabinets were custom made and I even got to see the back workroom where they were designed. The cost of my kitchen was far better than any other place where I got a bid, and the craftsmanship exceptional. Jerry, my salesperson helped me through every single step and made sure all the work that was done was perfect. He seemed to know what I would like before I did and made sure I was aware of all that was possible with the design and staying within my budget. Our next project is a kitchen in our basement and I for sure am using Mountain States and especially Jerry! read more

DO NOT do business with Mountain States Granite. They will promise you the job will take 3 weeks, it will actually take 6 months, will be a crappy job, and then you will never hear from them again until 6 months later when they say if you don't pay the remaining balance by the end of the week, they're sending you to collections. In April 2013, I hired Mountain States to remodel my kitchen. On April 18, 2013, I gave them a personal check for $5000 as a down payment, with the understanding that the remaining balance would be due once the work was completed. I was told it would take 2-3 weeks for the work to be completed once it was started, which would not happen for 2 weeks, which I was fine with. On August 23, 2013, the work had still not been completed. Dave Lindenlaub came to my home to review with me what work still needed to be done. I showed him what was still uncompleted, and wrote him another check for $4360, which was the remaining balance, minus $500 that was to be paid once the remaining work was finished. It was October 2013 before the rest of the work was completed. The worker that came to my home to complete the final tasks did NOT ask for a check for the balance. I never heard from them again. I did NOT receive a bill in the mail. I did NOT receive a phone call. I did NOT receive a text. I did NOT receive a message on my answering machine. I did NOT receive an email. Nothing. They did not attempt to contact me or collect the balance in any way. I completely forgot that there was an outstanding balance until they called this afternoon, April 2, 2014. The person that I spoke with said "we're trying to collect the $500 you owe us." I said "We've been unemployed for 2 1/2 months, is there something we can work out?" He said "No, if we don't get our money, we're sending it to collections." I told him this is the first I've heard from him in 6 months and after ONE phone call, they're sending it to collections? He said "Well, we've been trying to contact you. We spoke to your husband." Yeah, they spoke to my husband yesterday, who told them they had to talk to me, as I handle all of our finances. I spoke with Dave Lindenlaub. He told me I had refused to pay the balance and if they don't receive the money by the end of the week, they're sending it to collections. They are not willing to work with me because they've already given me 6 months to pay and I've been avoiding them. I don't dispute that I owe them $500. And I am happy to pay it as soon as I can, which I pointed out to both Dave and the other person that called me this afternoon. At no point did I say anything to the effect of refusing to pay. I've paid them over $9300 in cash and I have perfect credit because I have always paid all of my bills and debts. I will pay them the full amount as soon as I can. I even Dave when that would be. I think it's extremely poor business practice to wait 6 months before attempting to contact or collect on an account and then threatening to send it to collections on the first phone call. It took them 6 months to complete a job that was supposed to be completed in 2-3 weeks. I'm not particularly happy with the quality of work that was done. I certainly do NOT recommend anyone do business with Mountain States. read more

Had the home visit for a kitchen remodel a month ago.....still waiting for a bid. This does not make me very happy.

We had Mountain States install white craftsman style cabinets in our home. We were very satisfied with the process.Their quality was exceptional.The cabinet boxes are made out of solid 3/4" plywood which was standard with their product. They are very solid boxes. The finish on the cabinets is amazing.Over the years we have had several home remodels and new builds and the installer from Mountain States was by far the best. We have worked with Graham Spedding on three projects in the last 10 years. As a designer he has an eye for detail. Grahams designs are beautiful, they are not ordinary or contractor grade. He listens to your wants and gives good ideas and suggestions to choose from. We have loved all of his suggestions. His ideas really gave our cabinets character and made them truly custom. We get tons of compliments on them. We highly recommend Mountain States and for sure ask for Graham!! read more

The salesman was very friendly and honest. The installers did a fantastic job. They laid down blankets and tarps to protect our flooring and were great to clean up when finished. We have noticed a huge difference in our utility bills and the overall efficiency of our home. We received multiple bids and compared all specs of the windows and are extremely satisfied with our new windows! read more

I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Mt States for my kitchen remodel. From the very first time that Dave was in my home to take measurements and work up an initial bid to the finishing touches by Mike I was never disappointed and often amazed at their patience, attention to detail, their ideas and help with decisions. Dave was amazing as we worked through multiple changes to the plans and my never ending questions. He was fair, he was thorough, he was responsive. He also provided me with excellent recommendations for the various trades not included with his bid all of which I was extremely satisfied with their work. Mike installed the kitchen and I was immediately confident in his expertise, experience and craftsmanship. He made sure everything was perfect before he was finished and actually offered to finish up a couple of minor things that were not his responsibility to ensure my satisfaction. Without hesitation I will recommend Mt States to anyone that is looking to remodel a kitchen and would definitely not hesitate to use them again in the future.
