The wine is very good, service is good, and they also have beer/cider options for non wine drinker! Their inside of winery tasting room is pretty small but dog friendly. I loved it for a cold weather!

I love the setting of this winery. The customer area is open and in what I would call an open barn. There are beautifully laid out seating areas, some with outdoor sectional seating and some with bistro tables and chairs. I can see this area being great for early evening get together also as there are numerous string lights. The wine is very good for Virginia. Mind you I'm fro The San Francisco Nay area so I shouldn't compare the wine to Napa. That wouldn't be fair. However, this does have the best Virginia Cab I've had. The Rose is light but does have a nice body. The Shiraz is good also and what I expect for a Shiraz. They also have a dessert wine---Traminette. This is very tasty...very smooth which could be dangerous lol. I brought my doggy and this is also Lovely for them. Plenty of beautiful flowers growing, fields with big trees, I will return. Also...there is a nice food truckhere also but I can't pull them up On Yelp: Bowes Southern Fried Chicken and Fish. Very tasty wings and chicken tenders, fish, shrimp. I have a basket with party wings and fries. The chicken is very nicely done...goes great with both the Rose and Shiraz!

We came to this winery after a hike and found it on a whim. The service was incredible. I at no point felt like the owner was pressing us for money, or to order more. We got a bottle of the meritage, and two flat breads. The food was tasty, and the wine was really good. The heated inside didn't have a view, but had games, and books, and couches. Was very homey. There was a huge playground on the premise so now I know I can bring my kids here. The whole decor felt elevated farm house to me. I would def come back and recommend to my friends.

This winery would be great for families. Lots of outdoor space, room to play whiffle ball, soccer, etc. There is a play set on grounds as well. Several picnic tables under a covered area with string lights. There was live music, but the music wasn't good. There was a food truck. The winery is VERY dog friendly! Sadly, the wine is... alright. I wouldn't want to buy a bottle. The ambiance was kinda country if you're into that.

Let me start with a positive note, so that I don't sound like a complainer. The staff is great and very friendly. I love any place that is dog friendly because it is not common in Virginia. The wine is very mediocre, and I would not buy any bottle after tasted 8 different selection on the menu. So the one star is for the staff, and the other star is for dog friendly. The entire vineyard is like someone's big farm house with a multi-acre yard. Nothing special or spectacular in terms of landscaping or view. Again this is just a fair review not a complaint.

Mountain Run has only been opened for a few months when I visited, but is starting off strong. It's owner / winemaker is a younger guy named Dave, a DC govie who decided he didn't want to work for 'the man' anymore and opened up his own winery. I have to hand it to him, that's quite an investment! The vineyard is a repurposed farm right outside the town of Culpeper. The tasting room is in the barn, which they are still working on. He recently planted grapes, but for now is sourcing them when he can, including some land under lease. When I visited they were doing an event for (I think) Habitat for Humanity, so I was impressed with him even before I started drinking! What I tried: 2015 Viognier: On the sweeter side of what I'm used to for this grape. 2015 Traminette: Bold nose, honey-ish notes Dog Rock Rose: Combination of Shiraz and Cab Franc. Interesting choice of grapes for a Rose, but I liked it! 2014 Cab Franc: Softer than most Cab Francs I'm used to, with a fruit finish. Got a bottle. 2013 Shiraz: Rarity for northern Virginia, so not surprisingly the grapes came from elsewhere. Thought it was pretty good, but I don't have much to compare it with. They also have a Meritage and Chardonnay, but my tasting nose fail me so I don't have anything to say!

Great winery , very friendly staff , multiple locations to sit , some heated ( it cold today so I appreciate it !!!) and tons of outdoor locations. They also had a play set for kids ( none with us today but great option).

Beautiful location. Wine is just "okay". Came for a painting event. My favorite of the 4 I chose was the peach sangria.

Flight & Menu

Great location, great atmosphere, good wine. The owner is sweet and is very helpful. Got here right when it was about to close and the owner was gracious enough to let us buy a flight. I'll be back, I want to try more!

Very organic. Relaxed. Lots of open space to lounge on a blanket. The wine was good. Will return with the family.

The winery owner, David, was very accommodating to our group and was super patient with us (we can be a bit much).

The room was a nice size for 2 people and we did not feel cramped in there at all. If I would only figure out the thermostat, I would have been fine but I just turned it off and on when needed. The beds were comfortable and clean. Enough soft pillows that I didn't have to ask for more. Breakfast had a few good options. I did enjoy the sausage gravy and biscuits. Before booking, I specifically asked the reservation agent whether the "suite" was a true suite--defined as having at least two separate rooms--and was assured that it was. Upon arrival, we discovered that the room was simply a larger single room, not a true suite. When we inquired about availability, we were told that the hotel considers larger rooms to be suites. Because we were tired and did not want to search for alternative lodging, we chose to stay. However, we require a separate bedroom so one person can sleep while the other watches television, which only a true suite provides. We are disappointed by the misleading description and believe this practice reflects poorly on the property. As a result, we cannot recommend this hotel and feel it therefore warrants a low rating.

Snow may have covered the ground, but between the stunning aesthetic, incredible wine, and delicious food, I am officially SOLD. This spot has earned a place in my top 5 wineries! From the moment we arrived, the hostess and waitstaff were attentive, welcoming, and full of recommendations. I went with a wine flight (because variety is a must!), and every pour was a hit. As for the food? We indulged in pasta, sliders, short-rib grilled cheese, truffle fries, and a charcuterie board everything was absolutely mouthwatering. We ate, we sipped, and we were very merry! I'm already counting down to a summer return so I can soak in those breathtaking mountain views from the patio.

The inside was spacious and comfortable. Loved the shiplap, the wood floors, the purse hooks on the bar, the patio with the stone and tile floor, the exposed beams, and the welcoming front entryway! We not only did the tasting, where one wine was better than the next; But the food was incredible as was the impeccable service! We did the red flight of wines, and I also had some rosé. We particularly favored the cannon red and the Cabernet franc. Our food was excellent; a the dishes they were served upon were lovely! My hubby got the roasted Brussels sprouts, my daughter chose the tomato basil soup, and we all shared a well designed charcuterie board! We left nary a morsel behind! The manager was so kind and generous, asking us to return and sharing the best times to come! He gave us some background information on the area and gave us a mini tour! This vineyard and farm is well worth visiting, making it a memorable destination!!
