Matt has been most helpful at working with me by giving me a discount on what he perceives as a customer error. I paid the bill but with the discount of a hundred dollars 377 dollars I paid to cover the charges still pains me .the invoice reflects o propane delivered. the handwritten amount on top of my receipt is fraud. in the same handwriting it says mailed. the technician does not mail out bills. I kept my word by paying the bill to keep off any adverse collections on my credit report. the fact remains that I was disregarded as being a disposable customer after seven years of loyalty. technicians came took my propane regulator rendering my tank useless. the tank I have I own . lease fees were charged and paid for for six of seven years. $67 a year for a regulator. which was the main reason I started service with mountain propane. very disappointed with the business model. I would not recommend getting involved with the manager Patrick he is out of his mind. time to be put out to pasture Patrick. I do prefer to leave positive feedback. Matt was most helpful in trying to resolve our differences I know he is only going by what Patrick insists is true. To this day small claims court is my resolution. Mountain propane has left me bitterly out of money for service not rendered. The first red flag should have been the amount said delivered was 114.6 gallons in my 115 gallon tank. Which is impossible to do. 90 gallons is maximum capacity if I was empty which I was not. Steve the installer made sure all was good and I knew how to turn the take off and that all the appliances were working. I am so relieved I will not have to working about Amerigas not delivering even when on auto delivery. I do not recommend this company! The loyalty to a seven year relationship was ruined when I was charged for a full tank of propane that I never got! The company is run by management that will not believe that they made an error . Granted a reduction on the bill was given because they said they overfilled it. The reception will tell you that even if you own your tank that everyone gets a yearly tank rental fee. The bill will come in at the time of beginning service with them. This act is infuriating especially if you over pre pay to get ahead. The advertisement that they had online at sign up was for two years free tank rental. I had to fight for this with Patrick he compromised and gave me one year free tank rental. I never signed a lease. When I questioned the rental fee Ronny the receptionist will exclaim that she thinks i said i wouldn't be living at my place for long; therefore I was not eligible to get the discount of free tank rental for two years. . Now I'm being billed for propane that I never received. I needed proof of this . I found the delivery receipt which shows the amount of propane that was delivered was 0. On that note ; it's not the first time that propane delivery was blocked by my crap. Mission aborted, i get it. I had requested a call before delivery which i never got. To get the tag i was billed for i had to physically go to the Felton location . We found Hand written on the top of the delivery tag even though the printed receipt from the driver said zero gallons delivered; 114.8 gallons on a 115. Gallon tank! ? My tank was not empty! How does filling to 80% factor in? At the start of service the tank could only take in 90 gallons. I would steer clear of this propane company the price per gallon $ 4.17 in January of this year. The hidden costs will really please you depending how large your tank is. I hate being a Karen. I wish i were treated fairly and understood. I pay my bill i have done nothing wrong but I'm being treated like I'm stealing from them. Really ? after seven years of service i would make this stuff up? My balance is zero ; every thing i get i pay for! Fair treatment and to receive what i had requested and pay my bill as always. I have not changed anything on my part. My word is good. Thanks, Patrick, for making the decision to tell your propane driver to not fill our tank without explanation to us or your poor driver. Zac, you were sweet but you're better than Mount Propane. We had even went up to our local market to pull out $350 cash while the driver serviced other units and when Zac returned, he said that Patrick told him "no, don't fill their tank" and so we were punished with no heat and no hot water. Shame on you, Patrick. When businesses all over are showing compassion and generosity of spirit, this is what you do. So, this all started with my first review when I complained because Mountain Propane would not have his driver top off our propane whenever they were driving around in our park servicing others. The reason for this is that they then won't have to fill our 90 gallon tank all at once only to turn around and bill us $350, which they KNOW we don't have. Well, *see my first review. They did exactly that. They did not service us due to $53.00 owing (and they are so cheap that they do not send us a bill, so I did not know I owed anything), I paid that after finding out I was EMPTY and they filled my tank. COST: $345. I am amazed that during these times especially, someone would cut off our hot water and heat. This after paying our bills for a solid 2+ years. I have checked into switching to AmeriGas and they no longer fill such small tanks (their customer service reps were extremely helpful, although they could not offer any help) and so we are FORCED to use Mountain Propane. I have been trying for several days to get a propane delivery. This company has the worst customer service. If I could switch companies, I would do it in a hot minute. Since this is the only propane company I can go to now, they don't have a need to practice quality service folks. They say they will return your call once they research the issue, but no on ever calls back. I'm going to research how I can get a different propane dealer. I guess I have to give a rating. We have NEVER been late paying our bill to Mountain Propane in the 2 years they've been our provider. I have sleep apnea and a heart condition. I take medication to slow down my heart rate and I've been admonished by my local cardiologist and a 2nd opinion sought at Stanford that if I do not take my heart medication, I WILL DIE. However, the medication significantly my sleep apnea. SO WE bought a propane powered automatic generator so I won't face these SERIOUS problems...that being said...Mountain Propane, last month and AGAIN this month, AFTER BEING CALLED SEVERAL TIMES DAYS IN ADVANCE THAT WE WERE LIKELY GOING TO RUN OUT OF GAS...and PROMISING they would be here here...and this time...we called on a Wednesday, they did not show...called again Friday...were promised we were on the list for that days delivery...that the driver WOULD be here before the end of the day...but they did NOT...NOR did they call! We called several times Friday and were basically gaslighlighted! We've had to shut off our generator during the day so I could take my life dependent heart med and use my CPAP at night. As a consequence we have lost the entire contents of our freezer and refrigerator. The same thing happened during last months extended power outage, except we didn't lose food...when we called Mountain Propane at a little after 6pm on Friday to try to figure out if anyone might still be coming, the answering service contacted a company representative who ACTUALLY told her that we would not run out over night and they WOULD NOT come out unless we went to ZERO! If my generator is running at night while I'm using my CPAC so I don't die it will DESTROY my generator! I was going to say this was inconsiderate but it's even bigger than that....its is DEVOID of consideration in the first place. TAKE THIS AS A SERIOUS WARNING! Mountain Propane is run by criminals. They provide propane service to the trailer park where I live, and they rip off everyone who moves in or out. I moved in and out, and then back in, so I saw both sides of the scam. Here's how it works. When you move in, they charge you $300+ for a full tank of propane. If you say "But my tank is half full, why do I have to pay for propane that is already in my tank," they say "You don't get propane for free. That's our propane and you have to pay for it." When I was thinking about moving out, i called them about getting a refund for my unused propane, and they acted like I was crazy. "You can't get a refund. We fill the tank and you have to pay for what we put in there." So I told them that I was moving out in 2 months and to not fill my tank again. 2 weeks before I moved out, they filled my tank and charged my credit card. I called them and they were sorry but couldn't do anything, so I charged it back on my credit card and threatened to sue them, and they buzzed off. When I moved back in, I talked to the guy in the new trailer so I saw what they were up to. They filled his tank just before he moved out, and he paid $300+, and then when I signed up for service they tried to charge me $300+ again for the same propane. When I complained they were very rude and dismissive and said that they would lock my propane tank until I paid (leaving me without heat). Fortunately I know the trailer park managers and I explained the scam to them, and they called Mountain Propane. The MP manager told them that it was just a misunderstanding, and that they would not make me pay again for the gas in my tank, but I caught them red-handed, twice. The first time I thought it was just incompetence but now I realize that they are criminals. If they rip you off like this, please contact the county to complain about them; this behavior is illegal. read more

New to Boulder Creek and called Patrick after having a existing tank with Dassels. Dassels have to run credit and set up a account and they were not very informative on the process as far as me taking of work to sit around and wait for them to fill it. .I have never lived in a home with a propane and Dassels couldnt work with me on my schedule or having someone else be there for the fill up. So Mountain Propane came today and installed the new tank and Im signed up for auto pay with a card on file for them to charge. Super convienient, and Mountain Propane is local to the area. So far so good, I would recommend then regardless if someones a bit cheaper, based on my experience with Mountain Propane I set. They got the job done! read more

Mountain Propane Service, MPS, is better than 5 stars! Is it because Amerigas was so awful that I truly appreciate my new propane provider? It's actually because they are genuinely kind to their customers. I've experienced a lot in my first month of being a new customer: Professional, detailed help and accurate appointment dates over the phone from Ronnie. A kind man named William came out to help me with my broken furnace on his lunch break (he is usually working in the office and did me a giant favor since the service appointments were booked for 1-2 weeks). How lucky I felt for his generosity! Another nice guy named Matt who replaced the crap-ass Amerigas tank on a hillside with only the help of a wench... and hooked up my stove all in one morning! I still don't know how he pulled that off, but am so thankful he did! And another great guy named Alan who brought my heater back to life (with the part that William ordered) just before it got really cold. Alan was also kind enough to wait for me to get home when I was running 15 min late; unheard of anywhere else!! This company is all about community and helping their neighbors. Their prices are very honest. I am happy to be a part of their propane family of customers!! Mountain Propane was recommended to us for heater service by our propane supplier (Dassel's). A tree limb that fell during a winter storm flattened the cap on the roof, causing propane soot to back up into the system, heater, and house. Mountain Propane responded, diagnosed the problem, set a time to disassemble and clean out the heater. He did warn that if he found that the heater itself had any cracks when he removed it, it would need to be replaced. Of course, being a nearly 20-year-old heater, that's exactly what happened. Downside: It took 3 visits to get all the work done (it was during the "El Nino" storms and they had LOTS of calls to respond to). Upside: Communication was clear, fair, and honest throughout. Although it took 3 visits, he did everything he could to get us heat again, including making that final visit on a Saturday. And, the final total price was very fair - In fact, the new heater plus 3 service calls came out to less than we had expected the heater alone to cost. New heater is working great (better than the old one ever did to our memory), and we're satisfied with the service and price. We recommend! read more

I have been a good customer and always pay my bills but have had consistent issues with getting paper bills and the auto-fill checkin has not always been on time. Apparently, you have 15 days to pay your bill or they shut you off the autofill so basically, they give you 15 days to pay for example my bill was $800. I asked if I could split my payments and paid half and the lady didn't even have the courtesy to remind/inform me I was off the autofill. I have been with them for four years. One year during Thanksgiving day we ran out of Propane and my bill was paid so different stories from everyone. Seems there needs to be some better customer service for this business. I am waiting for Matt to call me Monday- I will get my tank 1/2 filled and start looking elsewhere if I don't get a call. read more

I've never taken the time to write a Yelp review before but our recent experience with this company goes beyond the pale. We've used MPS for years and they've been great ... until last week. The storm caused a massive landslide on our road that took down the power lines and left 60 families without power for 5 days. Since many of us have backup generators running off our propane tanks, our tanks are seriously depleted. Now that our road is partially open and power is restored, we've tried to get them up here to refill our tanks, but no such luck. Since we still have a work crew on site clearing the slide, we have cones up to limit thru traffic but our road manager is on site to let utility crews thru. All the other propane companies are working with us but not MPS. The driver came, saw the cones and simply left. We've called, other homeowners have called, and our road manager has called. The office people are rude, saying we had our chance and they don't know when they're coming back. We still have some propane left in our tank because we've been rationing and not using the heat but some families are on fumes. Abandoning folks in need in the winter is a disgrace. Frankly, I'm disgusted. The irony is, I met the owner, Rick Kojak, once. He came out on a weekend when I smelled gas and heard a hissing sound. We had a long chat. Great guy. I doubt if he knows how his office is operating, but I have no way to reach him. Update: I've since called the emergency line and got a call back from the manager, Matt. Great guy. Finally sent our driver out this morning. It should not have taken a week, but I'm still updating to 3 stars to be fair. They did not handle this crisis well, at least not for us, but I'm sticking with them ... for now. read more

He promised a delivery today and was true to his word. The problem of initial customer service still remains though. Better communication would have alleviated a great many of the issues here. Mountain Propane installed a forced air heating system in our home a few months ago. I am totally thrilled with the results. My husband and I think it's probably the best money we've ever spent. The system works great and we are nice and toasty warm this winter. Our home had several challenges to work with and the installers were creative and resourceful to overcome them. They were friendly, professional, punctual, and excellent communicators. Once our system wouldn't turn on in the morning and I called and they sent someone out immediately. Like, within 15 minutes of my call. We had jostled the thermostat slightly off kilter, oops. The reasons I give them 4 instead of 5 are that it took them a month to do the install. This is double what was estimated. I wasn't complaining because the weather was warm at the time but it seemed like a long time. I also think it was quite pricey. Overall we are very satisfied customers. read more

This company is affiliated with Dassles Petroleum. I was told by MPS they have a contract with Dassles and will not take customers who want to switch over from Dassles, because of the contract. I was also told by Dassles that they supply MPS with propane. I am mentioning this in case you have had issues with Dassles and looking for a new propane service. "Local propane, local people" is a bit of a stretch considering they have a contract with Dassles and supplied propane from them. I hate giving bad reviews, but the customer service sucks. Lady on the phone lacks customer service skills--put me on hold multiple times, would not explain what she means by doing business with Dassles and made me feel like my money will be better spent elsewhere. I always try to shop local and keep my money local, but the fact they are affiliated with Dassles and have poor customer service skills is a deal breaker. Pretty bummed it didn't work out. read more

Mountain Propsne service is trash. They are incompetent. They let my propane run out 5 times in 3 years. My house gets severely cold and we have 2, 5 year olds and an 96 year old elderly person at one point. They came late at night a few times and filled me but refuse to apologize. They fill randomly sometimes and if you have any balance at all with them they cut you off and dont tell then they to charge you fees to restart your pilot untill you complain about it.Then they cop and attitude with you. I spoke with Patrick over the phone and he quickly became difficult to deal with and quite aggressive. I have worked in customer service before so I know it's a tough job, but he was really over the top and it bewilders me that this company has someone like this managing their customer relations. Technicians and delivery people are great. The problem resides with the billing and the pricing. Very difficult to receive an invoice unless you ask. When I switched to Mountain Propane Service in 2016, there was no rental fee for the tanks which was one of the main reasons I decided they would be my new propane providers. They have changed their pricing and are now hitting me with a $75 for a 250-gallon and $59 for a 120-gallon without consent. Has anyone been through the same experience? read more

I was a customer of mountain propane for almost nine years. In that time I never had a positive experience with anyone in the office. They're overall demeanor was not very customer oriented in my opinion. They are always looking to tack on extra fees for this or for that, and had the attitude of you need us, we don't need you. That being said, there were a few occasions when I had to have people come out for one reason or another, and their field guys were great! Always professional and helpful. Too bad the business isn't run the same way. I rented a home in Ben Lomond, and was stuck with them because the landlord had their tank or I would have changed services. Now that I am moving out, I asked about the remaining propane in the tank, and was told that I wouldn't be reimbursed. That was shocking to me, because when I moved in I was charged for the propane that was left by the last tenant. Also, I received a bill stating that my yearly tank rental was due, as I am moving at the end of February I asked if the rental would be prorated for only the two months. Their response was, oh the rental fee was from last year. It just never seems to fail that all dealings end up in their favor and the customer gets it in the rear. ‍ To be honest, neither the propane or the tank rental equated to a huge amount of money( maybe $200) and it's not the end of the world, but I can honestly say that after nine years of service I never once felt like a valued customer. Just sayn. In my opinion, if you have an option to go with another service provider, even if it's a little more expensive you will probably be much happier. read more

Here is what is possible and what my "typical" experience has been with the overall unreliable service and prices since being a customer: I'm still waiting to hear about a new tank. I also wanted my water heater in line with the code the home inspector pointed out. Still waiting on that. They've run me out of propane twice while being on they're service plan. Also, work done to an appliance took over 1 month to get done. Lastly, the prices fluctuate so vastly from week to week in Fall, Winter, and Spring that you could be quoted at one price over the phone and then when they come to fill it up, the price has already gone up dramatically. I have had so many more problems than this in such a short amount of time that it's very hard for me to believe that these people care about anything other than just filling your tank. Everything else falls to the wayside. I'll be switching companies as soon as possible. read more

I'm going to give a pre review of this company. As we have had them out 3 times to give us quotes on installing a tank and doing the entire home with heat. The service is great when you have them in front of you. Many promises and very professional. But it seems after that? Out of sight , out of mind. I have had to consistently call to get follow through. And it's been over 2 weeks since we signed to approve the project with not a word about the install schedule . The service industry here in northern ca really is shockingly substandard. I will update this soon . As it seems that all the propane companies are equally disappointing. OK folks I can finish my review now. I would've given this foreign a half stars. Not only did we get a new propane tank and lines ran we also had this company do brand-new ducting and put in a heating unit in our house. previous to this we only had electric floor heating. So they had a lot of things to figure out with our strange architecture.The other project took a good week longer than expected. Their team especially the team leader Ed. They treated our home with a lot of respect. They were very clean and clean up after themselves better than any other construction crew I've ever dealt with. They were friendly and comfortable to have around. They also gave us a very reasonable price considering the amount of work they had to do and the complexities of the job. Yes I would highly recommend them if you need heating air-conditioning or propane service. I would give them five stars possibly. But I do not or have not experienced with their propane delivery is like as of yet. But that is very separate to having the actual heating unit installed. read more

I have been using these guys for a few years now, and the service is great. I switched over from Amerigas (the tank was there when I bought the house, but holy cow Amerigas ripped me off!!!). MPS's rates are reasonable. I am on the auto-refill plan, and only once ran out (during an extended cold spell), but as soon as I realized I was out, they came immediately - on a Saturday even - and refilled the tank. Also, their office staff is so friendly. I have had to call a couple times to update my credit card when the date expired or I lost it and got a new number, and they have always been very courteous. Today, I needed to get copies of all 2018 bills for my tax accountant, and Patrick was just great! Looked up all the bills I had, and sent them via email immediately. I am stoked to have such a great partner for my propane needs. Hank Hill would be proud! read more

We recently changed propane suppliers because our former supplier charged more than most companies in the area, and their customer service left a lot to be desired. After calling around, we settled on Mountain Propane because they were quick to get back to us and charged less than most companies. We were changing the location of our tank and asked them to come out for a pre-site inspection, and they came out within the hour. Once the new tank was in place (a Monday), they said they'd be out by Friday to fill our tank (and we didn't even need it that quickly because we were still using up the gas in our old tank). They came out the very next day. We have been so impressed with their service and everyone that works there is quite friendly. If you're ever on will-call for a fill you know that it's your fault if you run out of gas. This happened to us a couple times and our prior company charged us an addt'l $100 to test the lines and would only say that they'd be out in the next 10 days to re-fill our tank (and aren't very friendly about it and won't even tell you when one of their guys might be in the area). MPS charges $75 and will try to be out the next day. read more

They're a family-run company and we've had nothing be good luck since we switched to them for our propane service and away from the EVIL Amerigas. It's probably been at least a year now, with no issues whatsoever. I highly recommend them, and they are actually cheaper as well. The best indicator of a company is how they handle bad situations. In this case, they failed miserably. We just moved in and I didn't know how full the tank was. MP wasn't able to schedule an inspection for two weeks. Fine, but I was a little nervous. The inspector showed up and was nice. He told me that the pressure testing was fine and, since he didn't know the amount of gas in the tank, that my tank would be filled up in a day or two. Two weeks later, I ran out of gas. I called them to find out what happened and they told me that I needed to pay them about $400 for a new valve and gauge. This had never been communicated before. Desperate, I asked how quickly they could do this. I was told another two weeks. Now, my wife, children, and I have no heat, shower, or ability to cook. They completely screwed up and are unwilling to put a shred of extra effort to make the situation right. But hey, they are friendly. read more

As Holly mentioned we are super happy with Mountain Propane. The driver from the other company told us that Mountain Propane charged alot of extra fees and tried to scare us away from using them. They often check up on your tank and when you have a leak you don't make an appointment to get it looked at they come and look at it that day, often as soon as possible. I know surprising right?
