Shortly after moving into our house we noticed a smell coming from our tank (which we own). We reached out to Ferrell and they sent someone right away. We were told that we had a leak around the fuel gauge and it would need to be repaired, and red tagged us for this issue. The repair guy told us to reach out when we were at about 5%, I double checked this through the website chat and was told that was correct. So when we reached out for the for the appointment I received a text the very next day for an appointment for the following week, great! But when they came to do the repair, we were told they couldn't do it because it was not at 0. So we were told incorrectly on multiple occasions. So we ran our tank to 0 and messaged for an appointment. We have been without propane for 2 weeks and have been told that it may be another week before they reach out to even make an appointment. And the appointment is only for a repair, they can't make an appointment to fill the tank because it's been red tagged. So once we have the repairs completed, it might be even a few more weeks before we can get a fill! Thank goodness it's summer and we don't need the heater. But we have been without a stove/oven, and a dryer for 2 weeks already. Is this normal? So frustrating! read more

I just moved into a new rental. We noticed the smell of gas and our heater wasn't getting warm. Turned everything off, including the gas line and got on the phone with Ferrellgas. Since we smelled gas, we went ahead and tried their "emergency" line. We were on hold for over an hour. During that time we left all the doors to our furnace room open and aired it out. The gas smell went away so we went ahead and ended that call. Had a friendly handyman come take a look at a few things and he noticed (this is my bad, but is my first time using propane) that our 150gal tank was empty. Although, the meter was reading 70 (they say to call when it gets to 30) Turns out the meters broken. But a little kick to the tank was a clear indicator that it was empty. So now we know what's wrong. I call back and am on hold for 30 minutes. I finally get a hold of someone, let them know my issue, without saying anything to me, she put me back on hold, and within two minutes the line was dead. They hung up on me. My partner called immediately. He was on hold for 45 minutes before someone answered. This woman let us know we were on the list as "high priority" because we were completely out of gas. We cant cook, have no hot water and no way to keep our house warm. They should come the following day. So onto day 3 with no gas....I stay home from work so I can be there when they come fill the tank because they need to relight my pilot lights. Around 3pm I went outside and there is a note on my doorstep that says that they came and filled the tank. But my gas is still off, because I quote "Customer Was Not Home" My car was in the driveway. I can't turn my gas on until they come back to light my pilots. I immediately get on the phone. There goes another hour on hold, to be told they will schedule me for the following day. when we ask why they didn't call or knock. She says "They don't come to the door" How am I supposed to let a gas guy inside my house to light the pilots if I don't know they're at my house? Am I supposed to sit outside all day in the cold and wait for them? So now, day 4. I stay home from work again. Waiting. Guess what? They never showed up. Going on day 5 tomorrow. This is my first experience with this company. I'm honestly at a loss for words on how this makes me feel. I rent and am not sure how likely it is that I can change providers. So I'm probably stuck with terrible service. I'm just here so you can all know that this is what you are likely to deal with. No food. No hot water. No Heat. Good Luck. read more

Over a couple decades I have cycled through all the local propane companies. Dealing with them is one of the bigger pains of rural living. One company nearly blew up my home by leaving the tank valve open (I came home to find propane spewing from my tank), and another claimed they owned my tank when they didn't (they showed up at my gate one day with a sheriff's deputy and demanded to be let in to check the serial number, which turned out to be just a bluff because they had no paperwork showing they had any claim). I found out -- after firing them -- that a company's truck driver was regularly (and notoriously) delivering gas while drunk. When I switched to Ferrellgas (in an emergency, when my former gas provider had allowed my tank to get to under 10 percent) I thought I'd finally found a company that cared about it's customers. Turns out I was wrong, sadly. They were pretty good for about a year, but then things changed. Once they have you, they stop trying. Unreliable, rude, contentious and just a misery to deal with. Here's the deal with propane companies. They want to make money off of you by leasing you a tank, so if you own your tank you are automatically a lower-ranked customer. Next, they want to get you on a top-up (keep-full) contract, so if you won't agree to that your are bottom of the barrel, as far as profitability goes. But if you have a tank behind a locked gate, and need to be home when gas is delivered, and the driver won't call ahead of time to let you know when he's coming, how can you agree to a top-up account? They -- Ferrellgas and all other propane companies -- simply don't care about accommodating a customer's needs. It's all about what is convenient and profitable for them. read more

It's funny to say that you LOVE your propane company, but we do! Every time we call for a refill, you actually get to speak with a human, and ALWAYS an extremely friendly and efficient human! Their service is top notch and exceeds all other propane companies we have used in the past. They show up when they say they are going to, always very courteous. Switched to Ferrellgas after A___Gas failed to deliver over Christmas break, and they'e been absolutely fantastic. They handled the tank switch out quickly, on time, no drama. Fill ups have been automated and early (i.e., long before I worried about running out). And their prices are cheap cheap cheap! Much cheaper than the other 3 companies serving the Los Gatos mountains. Their customer service is responsive when I call in with questions or needs. So very glad I switched! read more

We're new customers with Ferrellgas and have had a great experience so far! We bought a home that was using AmierGas and after some asking/calling around knew that Ferrellgas was the way to go. They fit us in within a few days of calling even though they had an 8 week lead out time when AmeriGas wouldn't do a partial fill unless we signed a 3 year contract since they knew we would not be using them. Ferrellgas showed up on the dot to what time they said they would and were in and out in an hour. On top of it all, we had found a jug of gasoline when cleaning up the property and when I mentioned that we didn't know how to dispose of it, he offered to take it with him which was a huge help! Then as if it wasn't already great service, I got a call within an hour of him leaving checking in to see how it went and to see if I had any questions. They're coming out tomorrow to fill the rest of the tank and I wouldn't go with anyone else after this. Definitely recommend Ferrellgas to anyone thinking about switching propane companies! read more
