First meeting was good, friendly, and confirmed what we were hoping to find with the trailer we had researched. John was courteous during this interaction and drove us around the lot answering questions. We appreciated that he didn't try to upsell us on other inventory that didn't meet the specifications we had been looking for. By the time we left, we placed a deposit on the trailer to go home and sleep on it. John handled some of the DMV paperwork over the phone and via text to streamline the process when we arrived for pickup. We agreed on final configuration including a lithium battery to be able to dry camp for multiple days running our fridge and basic power. Assuming the vendor whose sole purpose is selling RVs to people knew exactly how to outfit an RV electrical system, we didn't ask a lot of questions or do the electrical homework ourselves before delivery. Looking back, this was a huge error. Our first night home the trailer had no battery power. Hours later and many phone calls to Forest River roadside assistance, we discovered the tech who had inspected our trailer when we picked it up blew a fuse and never verified that the battery actually worked. Strike one. A quick trip to an auto store got us replacement fuses and we were able to charge up at home before our first trip. Much later, John finally texted back "XXXX showed you the battery disconnect switch?" Irrelevant and too late. First day we take the trailer out, we noticed the toilet bowl was full. That was a fun find. Dirty footprints all over the toilet and flush pedal, and a bowl full of pee? Strike two. By the second day of our trip, we had lost battery power and the fridge turned off while we were out hiking. Coming back to spoiled food and a thawed freezer at a remote site in the mountains was unpleasant. We diagnosed the entire electrical system to learn that they sold us a 100Ah battery at 100% price markup to run a fridge, which was never going to be possible. Strike three.

I feel taken advantage of…read more We were towing our travel trailer from Mexico to Oregon when the injection pump in our 98 dodge diesel failed on I-5 near Los Banos. Had AAA tow it to Tom. He gave me a verbal estimate of $2200 which is in the ball park. I got estimates from 2 other shops and they were within $200 of Tom. 3 weeks later he has not looked at it despite no other cars in the lot to be worked on. He was confident he could have it done within a week so I booked a flight to go pick it up. I called the day before my flight and he stated it's done but the bill is now $4115. I say that's a lot higher than you quoted, he replied it costs more. HE NEVER CALLED ME TO AUTHORIZE IT!!! His invoice had the labor correct at 5.5 hours. He charged me $2941 for the injection pump and $93 for a fuel filter. The pump is everywhere online for $1300 to $1600. I think it's fair to mark up parts and make a profit on them but this is highway robbery! Unfortunately now that he's done the work I had to pay or he puts a lien on it and I lose my truck. He was supposed to drive there on Saturday and get to So. Cal before dark. However, he left after dark. He passed Los Banos (Route 33 exit) close to midnight and his engine started running really rough and it was losing power. He limped to the next exit, at less than 25 mph, turn around, and come back to Los Banos. We picked him up around 1:30 and got back home at 3AM. At 8AM (Easter morning), we started calling mechanics in Los Banos. Of course, we used Yelp and sorted by ratings. We went down the list and left messages for everyone. We just prayed that someone would be willing to work on a holiday. Jesse was the only one who answered the phone. We explained our predicament. He agreed to help if we could get there by 10. He had a family picnic planned. My son's car was parked about 2 miles from Jesse's shop. We were able to get it running and over to the shop before 10AM. Jesse found the problem, was able to obtain the necessary parts, and had the car fixed in about 3 hours. He charged a very reasonable amount. My son made it to So. Cal before dark (a day late), and Jesse still got to spend the rest of the day with his family. Called Bill and he recommended a tow company, then made sure we knew that he would take care of us when we got there, despite the fact they were scheduled to close in 15 minutes. He kept a technician (his son) at the shop to help us, and since the part wasn't available that day, allowed us to "camp" in the back of his shop (hooked us up with water and electricity). His son worked tirelessly IN THE RAIN and got us on the road the next morning. This was on a Saturday, We found the leaf springs at a near by shop for $75, I wasn't familiar 100% with the part number so we didn't buy them. He ended buying the parts where we told him we found them but he said he didn't and bought them somewhere else, because we knew what that store was selling them for and later we would find out that he would mark up the price double. Long story short he charged us 7 hours of labor to replace 2 leaf springs. Total bill came out to almost $1300 for replacing 2 leaf springs. I expect a business to make money but it's sad when a business takes advantage of someone in a time of need. Paid to have gas take changed and light was still on. Was told I needed new coils and fuel injectors along with manifold. Made all suggested repairs and car still had misfires and now manifold error. Took back for another round of repair diagnostic said that had low compression on two cylinders they suggest new engine. So after paying of $6000 on car repairs to be told that I now need a new engine. I was very disappointed in the outcome of waisted time and money. I don't believe German cars are their strength so I would suggest not allowing them to service the car beyond an oil change.
