Brought my 07 F150 here for an ongoing rear brake issue (have had to replace calipers, rotors, and shoes 3 times in 9 years of ownership because they seize and overheat). No off roading no towing no heavy payloads... just highway driving and back and forth to Tahoe. Tired of throwing parts at a problem that isn't going away. Street Scene has entered the chat. Ben says they'll get to the bottom of it. The issue I brought forward mind you was: "figure out what's making the brakes seize, and fix it. I don't want to bring this car back to a shop for seizing brakes anymore." A few days later I get a call asking to check the rear differential fluid? Okay, he says it's part of their diagnostic process... I know that's not the issue but he refuses to move forward in the diagnostic without accounting for this step, so I okay the work. Then he calls and says the ABS module was failing. Explains it in a way that sounds credible (module not allowing pressure to back flow thus causing caliper piston to stay engaged ever so slightly -- makes sense). $3800. A few days after picking up the truck with the statement from Ben "I'm confident this is the fix to your issue, but if it happens again bring it back and we'll make it right," I'm driving back from Tahoe. Brakes seize up coming down highway 50. Ben says bring it back and they'll handle it. I asked them to check out the e-brake assembly as there are several forum accounts stating a corroded e-brake spring release clip ($15) could be the culprit and is common. Just got a call stating their diagnostic has now pivoted to suspecting a bad wheel bearing and possibly a bent axel? Not sure how we arrived there from bad ABS module. Never took off the tire to assess the e-brake assemblies during the second diagnostic by the way. Seems to me like they have no idea what they're looking for. I told them "don't be another shop that just throws parts at a problem they're not able to properly diagnose." Seems to me to be exactly what's going on. Will update after meeting with the shop today to further review their customer service end of handling this issue. Read other reviews too -- similar accounts on both google and Yelp. Recommend avoiding this shop at this point. read more

Prompt, professional, well-managed, priced well, thorough, clear and concise. Honestly haven't seen a better run or managed auto or trailer repair business in Santa Cruz county in 25 years of living here. They. Are. Awesome. Got a very thorough inspection performed (with pictures - texted to me), with diagnosis, suggested repair for the primary problem (they actually fixed while performing the diagnosis as it was related) and other suggested repairs to perform or consider performing soon. ZERO pressure to get non-urgent things done. We were there for trailer work - but cars are most of what they do - and I won't hesitate to service my vehicles there. I needed my horse trailer serviced, & Ben was very welcoming from the minute he picked up the phone. I got an appointment right away, and the crew at Street Scene did a fantastic job assessing what needed to be done. Ben was honest & told me that the trailer only needed some rewiring, a few lights replaced, and new tires. The old tires were 10 years old. I wanted to get a hitch added to my car and found local places in Santa Cruz had a long lead time to get the hitch (a week) and then wanted another week to schedule the installation. I contacted street scene and they ordered my hitch that day and it was on my car two days later. Coming down from the mountains ,driving near Watsonville our RV's brakes started to burn and smoke. Fortunately we consulted Yelp for a reference and went to Street Scene. Owner Bill checked our brakes as soon as we arrived and scheduled our repair for the next day, squeezing us in so we could continue our travels . It was necessarily a complete front and rear rotors and pads replacement- expensive, but done right. The work was done expertly with upgraded parts. I needed my new Subaru Outback wired for towing. I tried several places closer to home but no one was interested in or willing to do the job for me. I had a particular brake controller I wanted to use, made by Redarc, and Street Scene not only knew about it but they are a dealer and they like this particular unit. The job was done at the agreed upon time and took pretty much the time they estimated. Update: Decided to do some routine maintenance after a blown tire and had a few issues w EGR valve sticking as well as gear shifter. Because this wasn't what I brought it in for, and it took a day longer than expected, I became frustrated. However what happened was a blessing in disguise. After Google searching egr valve for my vehicle there had been a recall on similar Jeeps, and it was a common problem that can lead to many issues. They cleaned it out and sent pics. Then when I went to p/u it wouldn't go into gear. Turned out to be the previous owner spilt a cup of coffee in gear area and soaked solenoid. Never had a shifting problem in my short month owning it, however could of froze up in a much worse area. Whenever I called, regardless if it was Bill the owner, or his sons, or any of the staff they were always kind, professional, and very welcoming. They sincerely want to help you with whatever situation you had going on with your vehicle or trailer. We brought our fifth wheel RV to have the leaf springs equalizers between the tires on the axles replaced. Bill was great about contacting the manufacturer and ordering the parts, as soon as the parts came in three days later they scheduled us for installation. One of the most expensive shops around should demand some of the best mechanics around. No longer the case with this shop, unfortunately. My wheel drive went out on my dodge diesel and they were able to get it fixed in one day, demonstrated why it wasn't working, and then demonstrated to me after the install the 4wheel drive working. Everyone in the shop was extremely nice. The owner took the time to introduce himself and communicated the whole process clearly and precisely. We just bought a new to us 2018 Subaru Forester, and needed to have a tow hitch installed. The dealership said we should have it done there (no thanks) which of course prompted my husband to search for a local place to get it done. After a quick search, he called Street Scene. we live in Gilroy so a quick trip over highway 152 is easy. Jeff was very helpful and professional, and gave us a fast quote to order the parts and told us we could get the hitch installed as soon as it came in. We ordered the part on Monday, it came in on Wednesday. We were able to schedule the installation on a day that fit our schedule. My husband brought the car in and Ben was ready and waiting to get the installation started. They quoted my husband two hours to complete the job, and it was done before that time. We recently brought our 30-year-old classic vehicle to Street Scene for an evaluation. The coolant light was flashing but we couldn't find a leak nor did the fluid appear to be low. Street Scene performed a 24-point inspection for a nominal fee and texted us photographs of their findings! The biggest issue was that the oil cooler was leaking into the coolant--in other words, a real mess. Because the vehicle is old and the milage is high, we weren't sure whether it was worth repairing. However, it's an unusual model camper van, we use in only occasionally, and we are very fond of it, so we discussed options with Jeff & Ben. They were very honest with us and worked out a plan to address the most important issue now for a reasonable sum, and take it from there. They told us they would stay in close touch and if the technician found anything major he would stop work and we could halt the repair without incurring an unreasonable expense. We agreed to that plan and a day later we had our van back and running in tip-top condition! It's quieter and full of power--it's like Street Scene shaved 15 years off the old girl. We are incredibly pleased with the quality of the service and repairs provided by Street Scene and their willingness to not only work on this quirky model but also to provide a reasonable plan of action for such an old vehicle. Called Bill to see if he could put a trailer hitch on my new rav4 and how much it would cost. After a few minutes he came up with a price of $425 parts and labor. I said that is fine and paid half up front. The following week I called and they said the hitch had come in and I can come right down for installation. I went down and they put it on in about 30 to 40 minutes. It looks great and are very pleased with their work and professionalism.
