Arco is the 2nd largest gas station chain in California (behind Chevron), with over 1,000 stations (though not in the top ten nationally). California is Arco's biggest market, with over 60% of their stations in the state. My wife and I have found that Arco seems to consistently have lower prices than the national brands, and if a Costco is not available, come to an Arco if possible. It wasn't that long ago when the stations did not accept credit cards (even at the pump), though they do now (but often with higher per gallon prices, negating any credit card rewards). This location is one of many gas stations/restaurants right off the I-5 freeway in Santa Nella. It was the first gas stop since leaving DTLB, and the 10.931 gallon fill-up of 87 octane was $5.66 per gallon. It was a modern self-service with a payment card tap option, which worked fine with our Costco Citi CC. Brief history: created with merger of Atlantic Refining (an early part of Standard Oil) and Richfield Oil (an early petroleum company founded in LA in 1905). Can get pretty windy outside versus other stops along I-5. Quick in-and-out using Arco gift card to get a good price on gas. Not too crowded as well. read more

Another gas station, I like places where its clean and I feel safe, I don't shop around for the best prices I shop for convenience and there are plenty of stations around to fill my preferences when it comes to filling up the vehicles. Pro Tip: Cash saves you a $.50 debit fee to get gas... This gas station has a rocken AMPM store attached. This store has all of the typical c store stuff that you would anticipate finding in a place like Santa Nella... Hot Dogs, Burritos, Sammies, Slurpees, soda, gatorade/powerade, rockstar/redbull, etc... Dont forget a few candybars and some random knick knacks for gifts or stupid things to wear like a trucker hat that would say "instant asshole just add alcohol" or some other lovely thang. I need a break from driving so I'm gonna go ahead and write a report on the bathroom at this gas station. If you're like me, you need to stop and pee after a long drive on the five freeway. The price of gas is cheap and the bathrooms are operational. However,if dirty walls and doors bring you down, don't go. The owners of this gas station need to maintain the whole bathroom's cleanliness using soapy water (and maybe even some bleach) and clean the walls with those white scrub sponges. read more

Today the Santa Nella AMPM lost a long time customer. Ok so I stop at Santa Nella every time in drive between Sonoma county and LA. It's the perfect place to fill up my gas tank and maybe grab a coffee. I've had decent experiences on my many stops at this ampm. In fact, I did this trip so many times one year that one employee started recognizing me. He was seemingly their only employee and he was great. Today, however was not so great. My nice employee is long gone and a very rude one has taken his place. I went in with my boyfriend for coffees and a Danish. We had one full punch card and another with two stamps. I was stoked for my free coffee, of course. I had earned those stamps! The cashier wouldn't accept my punch card. He said that it had been hole punched instead if stamped (on two spaces) and was therefor not valid. He said people could be punching their own cards. Well sir, I don't know about you but I don't have a slurped shaped hole puncher at home. Look I understand that policies change and that people are shady but jeez guy. There's no reason to be super rude about it. All in all, there's a loves right next door. I recommend you stop their for your gas and coffee needs. So stingy with the Air machine. I watched the owner turn down a customer saying "not for people who only buy 6 dollars of gas". For something Meant to be Legally free for all who buy gas? After asking to use the air machine after purchasing gas, we were given two tokens, (about 60 seconds of air)then told we need to buy 40 dollars of gas to get more, after I told him law requires it be free for any customer, he said quote "no cause you only bought 6$ of gas" AFTER I HAD BOUGHT 20$ OF GAS., and even if had gotten six bucks of gas it shouldn't matter, especially Unable to leave safely with low tires. After complaining and showing him the sign that requires him to supply air and water, he brought out a sign that said out of Order and placed it on the perfectly fine air machine we were using. even worse, before that he flat out lied to us saying there was no more tokens with a whole container of them right next to him wich he was giving us two at a time. Horrible service to my mother who's been getting gas here for over 16 years. Oh and I can't forget to mention they told us to get air from another gas station, after we purchased gasoline from theirs. Bait and switch = GUILTY! OK, you drove up to this Santa Nells oasis of gas stations and fast food venues. So, naturally, I looked for the cheapest 87 level gas. Hey! ARCO offered gas for just 2.63. Drove up here and navigated my way through all the venues here. Then I tried pulling up to a gas pump. Hey what?!!! Only expensive gas for sale here. "Only top tier gas for sale here." No 87 gas for sale here even though we advertised it to you on our sign, but we lied. Please, sucker, buy what we have. All the gas pumps. Cheapest gas in Santa Nella for the past couple years. This is the best place to stop for gas between LA and Redding. Pilot and TA have bigger mini marts, but you can't beat AMPM for gas prices. You are going to need cash to avoid the debit card fee though. If you have to use credit then you might as well go for Pilot as an alternative. read more

This Arco was an easy stop on I-5 with lots of pumps and clean bathrooms with a changing table for the little ones, which can sometimes be difficult to find in some gas station bathrooms. Lots of snack choices as well. Could have done without the pushy waterless car cleaner salespeople near the pumps though, but they are not there all the time. read more

For the frugal traveler, this is frequently the cheapest gas between LA and the Bay. Lots of pumps, too, so there's rarely a wait. The bathroom is usually a quick in and out, as well, though I can only speak for the men's room. However, like all Arco stations, I miss being able to pre-pay cash at the kiosks, more so here than other locations, as there is a pretty hefty walk from the pumps to the often lined register and you have to do it twice. read more

This town is beautiful and the gas price is the best probably in California. The gas station itself is super clean, and the employees were really friendly. I saw a customer who needed a jump, and the turban Sikh guy went out and helped out. They always have really good deals on the hit food. This place cheats you out of your money. We stopped pimping gas cuz the car was full and the meter kept running. It kept going for at least $2. I went in to tell them and thy denied it. Saying it was stopped now. And it was only $50.48. Then when input the pump back it jumped another $0.02. So when I went in I said ok... $50.48. And he only have me change for $50.50. Driving from Anaheim to the Bayarea. Needed gas and was very hungry. Most of the pumps where out of order and the pay stations didn't work. I didn't have cash and they didn't accept my debit cards. I went inside to get a hotdog and the mustard was very watered down. When I checked out, the cashier wasn't friendly at all. He only told me my total. He ignored the other customers too. This is the shittiest gas station. You have to go to an island to pay. You can't use a credit card. $0.35 fee to use debit card. Gas pump didn't stop properly and got gas all over the side of my car. Island was out of receipt paper when I went to get my receipt. NEVER AGAIN. read more
