Look for someone else! Worst moving experience ever. Do not move alone as a woman as the owner is unstable.

On a Saturday that was filled with an abudanve of rain in January (at least it wasn't snowing) - mike and the team of mountain movers team arrived on time and was hands down one of the best efficient movers I have been lucKy enough to come across. The team was friendly and ensured that we everything is where we wanted it... true customer satisfaction! On pricing - The quote was within reason and there were no surprise shocks... Mike touched based prior to the move day on multiple occasions which provided me the assurance that with everything else that occurs with moving - the one thing I wasn't worried about was the moving company I picked via their reviews.... Donna was helpful and friendly when I called originally for a quote and was able to come out within days to take pictures and provide the estimate. The day of the move Mike, John, Jesus and E were amazing!!! Professional, courteous, efficient and so fast! They came in under the estimate and even moved a couple extra things that weren't originally included. I will recommend this team to anyone I know personally to make any move big or small. After having a horrible experience with Lauchtown Moving and Storage on a previous occasion, I made it a must to review and do a lot of research on the next moving company that is use. I found very positive feedback and reviews of mountain movers. I contacted the company and the owner was very nice and set up a time to come out and give us a quote. I explained to him what needed to be done and how many people would need to lift particular items or they would break like they did with Lauchtown moving. He completely understood. His team showed up on time like he said. They were able to successful pack everything up and not damage anything. They had about 4-5 packing and moving our items. About 3 people offloaded into our new house. They put together our furniture and rearranged items to our liking. The fine bill was several hundred dollars less than the estimate. I want to start off that Mike and his moving guys (sorry, I forgot your names) moved us on one of the hottest days of the year (July 1, 2018). Mike was quick to respond to my phone call and answer all the questions that I had. Mike kept me calm during the move as well. I've never had movers move my belongings before. They moved all of our boxes and furniture very quickly. I was impressed. They were professional and polite. I would recommend them to anyone who needs help moving their belongings. This company moved my mom from Reading to Pittsburgh last month (October 2019) and after that experience I would not recommend them. I myself have moved with movers several times and never encountered the issues we did with my moms move. 1) They were hired to come on a Tuesday to my mom's house and pack everything into their truck, and then we're to drive the truck out to Pittsburgh on Wednesday and unload. This was agreed upon by both parties. The owner, Mike, asked my mom to switch to a Weds load and Thurs move schedule the week before. Wasn't ideal for us but my mom agreed to it. Obviously, Mike wanted to pick up another job on Tuesday. 2) On Tuesday (the day before they were to come pack) Mike texted with my mom saying he'd be there in the morning. Then later in the afternoon said he couldn't get there until 3pm. Now, after all of my moms furniture was loaded up, she was going to drive to Pittsburgh, a 4 hour drive, because obviously she would no longer have anywhere to sleep in Reading. Mike thought it was okay to start packing at 3pm and expected my mom to drive to Pittsburgh after everything was packed up. My mom told him this was unacceptable and not what they agreed on. He came at 2pm anyway to load and was not done til 6. My mom had to drive late in the night. Mike did offer to pay for a hotel, but my mom needed to be in Pittsburgh that night, so that was useless. 3) Previous to giving a quote, Monty came to my mom's house and looked at everything that she was moving and took pictures. Yet on the moving day, they didn't have a truck big enough and Mike said they would need to rent another truck and come back early the following morning and get the rest of the stuff (when my mom was in Pittsburgh... I guess he expected her to stay and cater to his mistake?) Luckily a neighbor offered to let them into the house to get what they couldn't fit in their truck. 4) They still left a NUMBER of things at my mom's old house that my mom had to worry about getting when she went back for closing. 5) When my mom got a quote, she asked if they move baby grand pianos. She was told they do and that was included in the estimate, HOWEVER, when they came to load the truck, they did not know how to even take the legs off of the piano and were not able to move it. My mom had to hire a separate piano mover and pay him an additional $700 to move her piano (which of course couldn't happen until the following week.) 6) Not only did Mike not take money off for not being able to move the piano, he did not offer to take money off for moving the date back or for being extremely late to come and pack and making my mom drive late at night. He also did not care that he left items at the old house. In addition, he expected my mom to PAY HIM for the additional truck they had to rent because Monty didn't estimate correctly! I was not in the room when Mike and my mom had this conversation and my mom is way less confrontational than I am and she agreed to pay half. Insane! His mistakes should not cost the person moving any extra money! 7) Mike arrived in Pittsburgh with the two trucks and two other men. The one man, whose name I believe was Kenny, complained the ENTIRE day about having to do a move so far away. Meanwhile, the company's website specifically states they move anywhere in PA. It made moving day pretty miserable for my mom and I to hear his comments over and over. 8) At one point, the other mover dropped a plastic container and it not only hit the driveway hard but then slid away. He and Kenny laughed about it, didn't bother to ask my mom to make sure anything was broken and just went on with their day. 9) They broke her front porch light while moving a mattress in the front door, didn't seem to care or say anything about paying for it. 10) They put two twin beds together wrong and couldn't figure out how to put the wiring that holds the double bed's box spring together at all. So they just left that one not put together. 11) There were 3 items they were to bring to my house (10 minutes from my mom's new house) after moving her in. This was discussed with the original estimate and discussed on moving day as well. They were told what the 3 items were, yet they left one in the driveway at my mom's when they drove to my house. They also brought an item to my house (a huge table saw that we have no way of moving ourselves) that was to stay at my mom's house. When the one mover whose name I cannot remember moved the extension ladder into my garage, he knocked over my daughters bike and didn't even bother to pick it back up, or again, look to see if there was damage. Just very careless with other people's items. Also, Kenny of course complained about having to go to a second location. All in all this was a pretty shitty move. As I've said before, I've moved with movers several times and NEVER had an experience like this. There are much better companies out there. Do yourself a favor, avoid Mountain Movers. read more
