Sushi is always incredibly fresh! Shannon is the best server and always so welcoming! The sushi chefs are amazing!

Randomly discovered this spot while craving Asian food during our Colorado trip. -- Reservations are highly recommended, it gets packed around dinner time. -- Our server did the best to keep up, but the restaurant was clearly understaffed, and several items we ordered took very long to make it to the table. -- Overpriced for quality. I've had far better Kin Medai in Napa and the Bay Area; this one was dull and lacked depth of flavor. -- The shrimp tempura missed the mark - far from Japanese-style, with overly thick batter and very little shrimp inside. -- Ironically, the standout dish of the night was the gyoza :(

The best sushi I've ever had--and that's a big statement coming from someone with endless sushi options in the Dallas area.

The best sushi I have had in a really long time. We sat at the sushi bar and the service was great. Every single thing we ordered was amazing - salmon nigiri, spicy salmon roll, peak 2, peak 4, peak 7 and peak 8. Everything was amazing.

This place was fairly good! Their tonkatsu ramen was tasty other than the chicken being a little tough. Their matcha tea was excellent, but they sell their matcha at the same price as their Thai tea.. despite getting FAR less Thai tea than matcha because of the fancy glass they fill to the top with ice. The Thai tea was watered down and terrible. Their Japanese omelette sushi was good, and their California rolls were good as well. They were extremely busy, but the server and hostess catered to us well and remained polite and friendly despite being very clearly stressed out. We sat at the sushi bar, and got to watch them make the sushi rolls right in front of us!! So that was very fun. It's a cute little place and i'd definitely recommend it if you like seafood.

Sides were great. Food was good too! I would recommend! Yall need to try this! Very very good!

Great "hidden" gem. We wanted somewhere close to where we were staying --the village-- and this was it. Originally didn't have reservations so was looking at an hour wait. As we said, OK, no problem, the hostess said, 4 right? And sat us. Service was slow to start-- but they were busy. We were on vacation so waited patiently. Once the server came all the way to payment was perfect. The food was amazing!! Kiddos loved it. Parents did too.

This was great for a large group. The sushi was good and so was the service. We really enjoyed this dining experience.

    Omakase (Apr 2024) Plate #3 of 3
    David R.

Absolutely delicious sushi experience, in the mountains at a ski resort no less. I did the Omakase and received three very unique plates of sushi, all wonderful. I also did the Japanese whiskey flight. If you're into Sake, they have a very large menu of options, cold, hot, flights, ultra premium, etc. I felt the pricing was very reasonable for an excellent service and great food experience. Only two words of warning are they have a very limited bar menu and kids menu. The kids menu is basically just scaled down versions of a couple adult items, like chicken terriyaki. So, if you have picky eaters, they may be going hungry here lol. On the bar side, they have a few great beer choices, lots of Japanese whiskey and Sake choices, and.... Titos vodka (I assume straight unless you want it mixed with a soft drink as they have no mixers). If you wanted full liquor bar for cocktails of choice, this won't work.

Finally a place from my short list that didn't disappoint! Seafood of any time in our landlocked mountains is a challenge. I'd put the quality of Mountain Flying Fish up against Morimoto or Sushi Kashiba. Although a bit more casual it's exactly what you'd expect in a mountain town. We got local hospitality from our server too. He was knowledgeable but not in an elite manner as is often the case in some high end restaurants. Don't let the more casual atmosphere fool you, the price is consistent with high end restaurants. At Mountain Flying Fish you'll get what you pay for. Prepare to be amazed.

We have never done this at a restaurant before, but we went to Twist 2 nights in a row. It is that good! We had to go back because we wanted to taste everything on the menu that we could. We had a friend who was there the same day on the other side of the restaurant that we did not see, but he said it was the best pasta dish in Colorado! Everyone was so accommodating to our group of 4 adults and 2 children. We felt at home in the beautiful Victorian home setting. We sat outside in the front yard with a majestic view of the mountains and sat back and enjoyed great food, great wine, and stellar service (shout out to Connor who took care of us the first night). They have a Happy Hour that is fabulous, but please do not limit yourself to the Happy Hour menu. Everything on the menu is fantastic. Our group kept debating what dish was the best....so many favorites. Here are some of our favorites in no particular order: Elote Street Corn Bibb - We made salad wraps of charred corn, cotija cheese, bacon and tomatoes...) Mussels - I know every restaurant has a mussel dish on their menu, but these were sublime. Love the touch of sausage to the dish! Cheese & Charcuterie Board - excellent, excellent curation! Great local cheeses paired with artisan meats...cudos on the Duck Prosciutto! Lobster Roll - All Lobster, Butter on a toasted bun....simple and so good! Shrimp and Pancetta Tagliatelle - The pasta is charred. Yes you heard that right charred pasta. The chef explained he experienced a similar dish in Italy during his travels and came back home to replicate it in his Restaurant - Thank You Chef Delicious! As our friend said "Best Pasta Dish in Colorado!" We live in the Chicagoland area, but can't wait to go back and try everything on the menu! This is a long winded review and I could go on and on, but do yourself a favor and head to the mountains and Twist in Breckenridge. We shared their Miso Soup and Edamame (bad picture...covered dish), and we both ordered sushi rolls (forgot the names), then shared this fun, one-of-a-kind dessert (forgot the name). Miso Soup and Edamame was just OK, but the sushi rolls and the dessert were stellar! Since I've had better Miso Soups and Edamame, I should rate closer to 4 stars...but I just loved this restaurant and its menu. The rice isn't your typical sushi rice but the fish was fresh. We also go the yellowtail heaven and garlic edamame. The yellowtail heaven was flavorful and fresh. The garlic edamame has a yuzu ponzu sauce that is more sweet than tangy and lacked garlic flavor. Service was quick and friendly. I'd come back to try the full dinner menu!

Walking in on a cold February day, the mood and ambiance were warm and inviting. The downstairs bar was lively, and the wood ceiling and decor definitely gave off a classic aged lodge feel. We were seated upstairs per our Yelp reservations. A collection of canteens hung on the wall, which sparked a fun conversation and history lesson for my twins. Since they're part of the CamelBak and Stanley cup generation, they hadn't seen anything like them before. My son was impressed by the size of the kids' burger, and the fries were great. The rest of us had the NY Strip. I'd say it was good, but not great--though I did appreciate the blackened seasoning and the chimichurri. The grilled asparagus, however, was simply fantastic. The showstopper was the upside-down apple pie with what seemed to be homemade vanilla ice cream. Both were generous portions and kindly comped by our server for my birthday. I ordered my standard Ranch Water, though it unfortunately didn't come in their traditional canteen cup. Overall, it's a great spot. I look forward to visiting again on our next trip to Colorado.

I've had some great scallops, but I promise I've never had better. My wife and I were looking for smaller steaks as we've seemingly stayed full from our previous meals. My wife ordered the sirloin, and I went with the Australian Kobe-style Waygu steak. My son got the lamb chops. For sides, we chose Brussels sprouts, green chile creamed corn, and mac and cheese. You already know my Waygu inspired me to have a religious experience. I'm not kidding. I've had both Japanese A5 and Kobe Waygu, and this was better. I got it with a wonderful chimichurri, but this needed no accompaniment. The sides were all great. I don't like Brussels Sprouts, but I always get them because my wife loves them.
