The vibes in the stadium are electric (especially if you're in the student section). Recently, I've been coming here to watch the ASU women's basketball team stack up wins during this historic season. They currently remain undefeated at home. The stadium is located on Tempe campus a short walk away from a light rail station. There is also tons of parking available nearby. Ingress and egress from the stadium are super quick. Staff is friendly. There are a few options available for concessions and merch available if you need some more ASU swag. The stadium is aging and could use some updates but overall function for the purpose it serves.

I had to add this "business" just so I could check in at it. Because lets face it, no one wakes up…read morein the morning and says, "I am in the mood to run around in little circles as fast as I can for an hour!" No. It takes a lot of will power to drag yourself to the track in the morning and thus we should be able to check in and say, "LOOK AT ME. I AM AT THE TRACK." If you are looking for a place to do speed work, or just enjoy running in circles, this track is pretty nice. It has a little squish to it unlike older tracks. ASU unlocks the gates at 6am (or earlier) and does not enforce parking until 7am. This gives non-students a solid hour of track use. If you are a glutton for punishment, you can also run up the bleachers, plus it is a quarter mile away from A Mountain. There are bathrooms under the bleachers that are unlocked, plus a drinking fountain. There are probably other times the track is accessible and empty, but I am a morning runner so I can only speak about the morning.

Dirt and broken blacktop. THERE IS NO HANDICAP BATHROOM. There is a step up into the bathroom and all the stalls are too small to admit a knee scooter, wheelchair, or stroller. There is only one entrance to buy tickets and it is 100 yards to the bleachers. THERE IS A CLEAR BAG POLICY. Didn't know that? Good luck getting back to your car to dump out your purse!

It was about the perfect amount of activity for us as we got to try each of the activities once. There's about 8 active games including a batting game, tennis game, QB throw, field goal kick, boxing, skiing, soccer and more. Most of the games have a scoreboard that will display your score and have the top scores of the all time, weekly and daily. It's fun to see your name up on the scoreboard even when your score may be pretty brutal compared to the all-time greats. The staff was very helpful in checking us in and letting us know how each game works. There's a few games that are pretty simple and others that require some setting up (like getting boots and strapped in for the skiing. I enjoyed the QB throw the most but it looked like the bouncy basketball court was the most popular while we were there. We went on the Friday night and it wasn't very crowded...only have to wait maybe 5 minutes for any activity to open up. The place was pretty clean except I did notice they didn't spray down to clean the batting helmets after each person...that was kind of gross to put on the helmet and feel some sogginess. This may be a fun place for holding a birthday party for kids as they have ice cream, cereal and party rooms overlooking the area. For me it's probably a one and done visit, but we need more places like this where kids and families and have some good indoor activities besides bounce parks.

They're laid back and a fun social event. Since moving to Arizona a little over a year ago, I finally got around to checking out my first Diamondbacks Game with a group on a Tuesday evening at Chase Field. One of the downsides of this venue is that it's downtown. Which means parking isn't going to be easy. I pre-purchased parking for a decent price. If you're looking for parking when you arrive close to the stadium, you're going to get gouged by parking lots and garages with their event rates. If you're lucky, and you're willing to walk a little bit, you might be able to find some free street parking. That's what I'm going to try next time around. Now, let's get to the good stuff. Getting into the stadium was a breeze. There wasn't a line and you walk through metal detectors where you don't have to take anything out of your pockets. Always a plus. Once I got in, I was excited to check out another baseball stadium. Even though Chase Field was built a while back, the stadium is well maintained and looks newer than it is. We sat in the Banner Health area which is center field. Fantastic seats with great views of the game. The weather was perfect so they had the retractable roof open. When it's too hot (those Phoenix summers hit), they close the roof. Like most venues, you're going to be paying for overpriced food and drinks. That's no different here. I walked around the entire stadium to check out all of the food options. It's mostly your standard fare, and an assortment of mediocre chain restaurants. I wish the food options were a bit better (Minute Maid Stadium in Houston has better food options hands down). I ended up going with some honey chicken fries (loaded fries with hot honey chicken, bacon, and chives) from Four Point Brewing. While the fries had been pre-made and were lukewarm, they were quite good for stadium food. Good portion size too. Probably one of the star food options at Chase Field. Swing batter batter, swing!

I will premise with: I have no clue about baseball, I played rugby and a bit of cricket, so made a total fool of myself but walked away laughing at my ineptitude ;). The event was well worth the prices, there were some vintners I 'knew' from the different events I've been attending the last couple months. The ambiance and vibe was chill, everyone was chatting and milling around, checking out vendors and tasting wines, and there were food trucks serving pizza and gyros. I would have liked some offerings of food inside the venue, but I did get some delicious plant based cupcakes with really good frosting. The whole evening was chill, we sat at a table then went to sit out on the bleachers for a bit more breeze. Very enjoyable event, we'll definitely come back for the next one.

While you could pay for parking at the venue, I'm not about that life, so I found parking in the residential neighborhood that's close to the Park. It took me about 10-15 minutes to walk over. First off, let's talk about the main purpose of Sloan Park: spring training for the Chicago Cubs. I know spring training is a big deal in Phoenix, but I was impressed with how nice this stadium is. It may not have the history of Wrigley Field but it's a super nice venue. As far as the festival experience, everything was smooth. The grounds were well maintained, getting in and out was relatively easy, and I didn't run into any issues. Exactly what you're looking for when you attend a music festival. I'll have to stop by for a spring training game next time around!

Previously called ASU Multi-Purpose Arena, Arizona State University's Mullett Arena is a special…read moreplace to be when visiting the ASU Tempe Campus. It is an indoor multipurpose arena with 5,000 seats and is home to ASU men's ice hockey, women's ice hockey, women's volleyball, and men's wrestling as well as the NBA G League's Valley Suns. Mullett Arena also was a temporary venue for the NHL Arizona Coyotes for several years. I actually stopped by Mullett Arena today for some ASU graduation festivities. It was the Sun Devil Athletics Stole Ceremony. From the comfortable seating and concourse around the inside of the arena, this arena was laid out well and served as a great event space. Some other events taking place over the next few months include the Arizona Juggernauts arena football games, the Stifel Stars on Ice, and the Riot Games LCS Spring Finals (two days). and the World Hip Hop Dance Championship. Clearly, the space can be used for a lot of different purposes. The Mountain America Community Iceplex at ASU is the ice rink on the west side of Mullett Arena. It has a concession stand for hot and cold refreshments and a full hockey pro shop. Temporary locker rooms were also setup for visiting teams when the Coyotes played there. The building also housed all of the on-site NHL training and locker room facilities during the Coyotes' temporary stay at the Mullett Arena. The arena is a great place to be for many different sorts of events, and it's still a rather new complex! I certainly recommend it.

The food truck selection is huge, the entertainment is actually good (Oh man, this year there was some high school steel drum band and they were so talented and so much cooler than me in high school) and the art booths are so varied. I love how BIG this fest is. You can stroll all over the Civic Center park and take your time perusing everything. The volunteers are always plentiful and can direct you to whatever you're looking for. And to be honest, I appreciate that you can use the bathroom in the Performing Arts Center vs. the portapotties (there are a ton of them--I'm just a weenie like that.)
