However, management and front-of-house staff fell far short of expected hospitality standards, especially during a crisis. When a main city water line broke, we recognized the outage was out of the hotel's control. But how staff handled it was completely within their power. Basic service logistics fell apart. For instance, valet service left much to be desired, as we were unable to reach them by phone from the casitas. Overall, our group was treated like a burden rather than valued guests, which was particularly disappointing given that our company has chosen this resort for our corporate event for years. Rather than recognizing an opportunity to win back customer loyalty, the best management could offer was honoring our corporate rate, bringing the night down from around $600 to $400. Saving a couple hundred dollars after experiencing major facility disruptions is hardly an incentive. It felt short-sighted and greedy, prioritizing immediate marginal room revenue over long-term customer relationships. If management had offered a meaningful service recovery, such as a heavily discounted return stay, a comped night, or an upgraded future credit, they could have turned a bad situation into a demonstration of true luxury hospitality. Instead, we were left with lukewarm support and a clear impression that squeezing out dollars came before guest satisfaction. We will not be returning, nor will we be recommending this property for future corporate retreats or personal stays.

It's even a few steps above glamping as it should be for the steep price. However, if you want to experience a few days in a great outdoors The Ranch at Emerald Valley is perfect. After 4 nights at the Broadmoor resort (also amazing) we took the 2pm shuttle up a rocky mountain road to the Ranch. We were greeted by Aaron, a fellow Northwestern alum (go Wildcats) and his incredible staff. There were 38 people total our first night there, which the told us was a record for the Ranch. It didn't feel very crowded though (especially after the craziness of the resort) and most of the people had kids the same age as ours which was a lot of fun. They showed us to our cabin, Hills Cabin, which I realized was the "presidential cabin." It was a huge 2 bedroom cabin that had enough room for 6 kids up in loft up top and a beautiful master suite. + 3 bathrooms and a ginormous kitchen/dining room that we didn't really put to use. It also have a big TV with Netflix and a lovely fireplace. There's a 3rd bedroom that's attached to it, although the 2nd night we were there it was rented by another couple with a separate entrance. There's plenty of fun to be had at the ranch: horseback riding, paddleboats/kayaks, archery, fishing, hiking etc. And if you get a rainy afternoon there are plenty of board games to play both in the lodge and in the cabin. We spent 2 nights here, although with the rain wish we had an extra night to enjoy some of the activities we didn't have a chance to squeeze in. The food was absolutely amazing. My picky children were even in heaven and my little guy has been asking for lobster ever since trying it as their Wed night cookout. Dinners besides the twice a week cookout involves ordering off a menu with plenty of choices for all. I do wish they did a better job with labeling the buffet with food allergies. My son has a serious nut allergy and almost ate a brownie with walnuts because it wasn't labeled and I had to constantly ask if things had nuts and/or gluten in them. They asked for our dietary restrictions ahead of time so assumed they'd be better about this. This really was a very special experience that I think our kids will remember for a long time. I heard this coming week a big family is renting out the entire ranch and I'd love to do the same with family and/or friends at some point, although it was fun getting to know some lovely people from around the country as well.

In the room, there's more free luggage tags if you want them. There's chocolate in the room that were made on site. They have these adorable reusable water bottles. The scents to the toiletry products in the bathrooms were very pleasing. Everywhere we went people knew our name. Last night we ordered room service and I got the leek soup. I loved it. Cons: the price! On top of that, they add a service charge to nearly everything. We were feeling too tired and we canceled our restaurant reservations. It was the very last minute so we were fortunate to get a room in the lodge! This was an all inclusive retreat. It included a fantastic breakfast, Lunch, unlimited water and an exceptional five course dinner that exceeded all expectations! During the day we hiked, rode mules and learned how to do archery which was super fun! At night we loved to get into the hot tubs which were so relaxing! They think of everything at cloud camp and provide you with so many amenities. When we used the hot tub they had water and towels right next to it! When we went hiking, I forgot sunscreen and they provided me with sunscreen! It was the little things that put a smile on my face! Yoga was offered once when we were there and we truly enjoyed it! The lattes, unlimited drinks and alcohol made it feel so all inclusive! The staff was extremely helpful, friendly and the best! The sunrise is an absolute must! Just breathe taking! My daughter and I look forward to returning since we had such a wonderful experience!

From the Broadmoor's South Tower you are shuttled (via Cadillac Escalade) to the resort, which sits 3000ft above the Broadmoor main. You have the option to take a mule ride about half way, which takes about 45 minutes, and was enjoyed by several members of our party. you get a tour of the property and an offer of drinks. There are also fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies available as well as homemade blueberry scones. Our cabin was decorated beautifully in an old-west style. It's small but cozy. There are no TV's and no wi-fi in the cabins, but there is wi-fi in the main lodge. It's a great opportunity to unplug and relax. In the center area there is a fire pit where s'mores happen after dinner (but everybody was too full for s'mores). There's a lot of things to do during the day. The concierge contacted us ahead of time to find out what types of things we might be interested in. They have a morning guided hike, mule rides (in addition to offering them when you arrive), archery instruction, lunch, an afternoon guided hike, camp craft, and cooking club. The only activities that we participated in was the cooking club, and I have to say that that alone was worth the entire experience! The chef who leads this, Chef Alex, was a phenomenal cook and a very entertaining person. We observed as he made hollandaise sauce, asparagus soup, and many other things. We were able to taste as he explained what he thought was lacking, and then taste again as he added spices to the various dishes. After cooking club, we had drinks on the patio overlooking the entire valley. Incredible views! The servers came around with appetizers, which were amazing. But, we didn't want to eat too much ahead of time because we had already had a taste of the dinner to come. We stayed two nights, and both dinners were some of the best meals that we have ever had. Each guest chooses between two soup starters, three entrees, two salads, and two desserts. Every single course, and every single entree, was absolutely delicious. The first night, I had the beef tenderloin, and it literally melted in my mouth. The second night, I had the duck and my husband had the trout, and, again, the meat was tender and the sauces amazing. We were glad that we only stayed two nights, because we would have gained 10 pounds if we had stayed any longer. The service is amazing, the food is great (and all inclusive), the wine was pouring, and atmosphere is completely relaxing. I can't think of a better quick getaway than the Broadmoor's Cloud Camp.
