We visited Mountain Air Ranch Family Nudist Resort for two days. It's not too far off the highway, nestled on the side of a mountain. We lost cell reception there, so be aware of that. The WiFi worked well, though. We were met by a very helpful & friendly guy (Riah)at the office and got the required tour. The playground area for kids is impressive (and our good friend Charly, who now lives in Lake Como near us, helped build it when he lived in CO & was a member.) They said it gets good use, which was encouraging to us to know of a resort where families are thriving. The outdoor exercise plateau was cool too! While there, they were making improvements to the pool deck area! And they'd recently gotten a new, larger hot tub! I loved the colorful umbrellas and multileveled sunning decks in the pool area. And the A-framed indoor community center lent to the mountain-y feel. The big upstairs area was the meeting room and where dances and activities are held. The grounds are quite spread out so be prepared to hike up & down the hilly landscape to get back & forth to things. We visited during a hot, dry time so it was rather dusty. We camped in an RV area because we wanted electricity but the grassy tent area looked cozy. They have the most impressive community kitchen & covered outside dining of all the resorts we've visited so far, possibly better equipped than most people's personal kitchens. There was a large black bear that was becoming a regular visitor and we did hear him during the night but they have good protocols & vigilance about bear visits. He was just looking for a midnight snack. It's important to keep all food (& even toothpaste) in your car/RV & properly dispose of trash in mountainous areas. I kinda wish we would have seen him but maybe not. Tis mountain life. We have alligators in FL, they have their wildlife too. *Photos taken with permission.

Great view from one of the many hiking trails!

We also had trouble with our balcony door staying closed and getting it to lock. Rooms were clean though. I liked the little features like the soap being in the shape of a paw print. The waterpark was awesome to have access to while we were there. Especially during the winter months. They got water attractions for all ages. The resort overall is nice. The lobby is huge and gives that cozy, lodge feel. They have plenty of dining options inside of the hotel. There is plenty to do besides the waterpark. Look into their bundles if you are interested in doing the other activities besides the waterpark. Will definitely be back! Tips: Download their app so you know what time the activities are going on in the resort or to order food ahead. By check in they pass out complimentary wolf ears.

Extremely disappointed with our experience at Great Wolf Lodge Colorado Springs…read more We arrived around 1 PM and were told our room would not be ready for several more hours. During conversations with staff/supervisors (the middle aged blonde woman at the front in particular), we were verbally assured multiple times that we would receive a full refund if we chose to cancel and leave. She was very rude during the entire interaction however. We relied on those statements, left the property, never used the room overnight, and then later were told no refund had ever been promised. The conflicting information and handling of the situation was incredibly frustrating, especially for a family with children. After trying to resolve it directly, I was forced to open a dispute through my bank. Unfortunately, after this experience, we will not be returning.

To start, we got a spa suite for 2 nights and it was equivalent of a very high end apartment. Other "spa suites" I've stayed at in Black Hawk were nice, but they were just basic rooms with a hot tub in them. This felt like a home away from home. The staff were incredibly courteous and helpful. The bartenders and dealers were also attentive and fun to talk to. I regret not trying any of the dining options, as we had plans for dinner already, but we plan to try some again our next stay (I've heard great things about Jinya) We also really enjoyed the rooftop hot tub and pool. The temperature was perfect and I swam several laps during my stay. There are so many amenities. I Will be back here soon!

Julian and Paul were being so disrespectful for no reason. We also were losing money and got excited when we finally won just a tiny bit. This casino is a SCAM. Highly recommend to never come here. Horrible workers. Horrible security guards. Horrible service - 0/10 experience. Ive never been treated this horribly. Will NEVER be back. I've been to black hawk many times, i'm a colorado native and know many people that come here often. They lost a ton of business for that for absolutely no reason for this. They should 100% fire Julian and Paul the "security guards". Would not trust them securing any vacinity. Very embarrassing for them. I'm disgusted by this business. I would probably go to Monarch if you HAVE to go to Black hawk. Ameristar is the worst casino i've ever been to. I would most definitely drug test Julian and Paul. They did not seem capable to secure this casino and made us feel very unsafe. HUGE disappointment.

My kids "wow! camping is so fun!" While this may be marketed as The Broadmoor's Wildnerness…read moreExperience it's far from camping. It's even a few steps above glamping as it should be for the steep price. However, if you want to experience a few days in a great outdoors The Ranch at Emerald Valley is perfect. After 4 nights at the Broadmoor resort (also amazing) we took the 2pm shuttle up a rocky mountain road to the Ranch. We were greeted by Aaron, a fellow Northwestern alum (go Wildcats) and his incredible staff. There were 38 people total our first night there, which the told us was a record for the Ranch. It didn't feel very crowded though (especially after the craziness of the resort) and most of the people had kids the same age as ours which was a lot of fun. They showed us to our cabin, Hills Cabin, which I realized was the "presidential cabin." It was a huge 2 bedroom cabin that had enough room for 6 kids up in loft up top and a beautiful master suite. + 3 bathrooms and a ginormous kitchen/dining room that we didn't really put to use. It also have a big TV with Netflix and a lovely fireplace. There's a 3rd bedroom that's attached to it, although the 2nd night we were there it was rented by another couple with a separate entrance. There's plenty of fun to be had at the ranch: horseback riding, paddleboats/kayaks, archery, fishing, hiking etc. And if you get a rainy afternoon there are plenty of board games to play both in the lodge and in the cabin. We spent 2 nights here, although with the rain wish we had an extra night to enjoy some of the activities we didn't have a chance to squeeze in. The food was absolutely amazing. My picky children were even in heaven and my little guy has been asking for lobster ever since trying it as their Wed night cookout. Dinners besides the twice a week cookout involves ordering off a menu with plenty of choices for all. I do wish they did a better job with labeling the buffet with food allergies. My son has a serious nut allergy and almost ate a brownie with walnuts because it wasn't labeled and I had to constantly ask if things had nuts and/or gluten in them. They asked for our dietary restrictions ahead of time so assumed they'd be better about this. This really was a very special experience that I think our kids will remember for a long time. I heard this coming week a big family is renting out the entire ranch and I'd love to do the same with family and/or friends at some point, although it was fun getting to know some lovely people from around the country as well.

Great Views. Zero Soul…read more I genuinely wanted to love this place. It had everything on paper - the views, the parking, the promise. So here's my honest advice: Book one night in the big suite, don't interact with management or the events team, eat somewhere else, and leave. You'll actually enjoy yourself. Here's the reality: It's gorgeous on the outside. But in my experience, there's no soul or integrity behind the facade. The service culture feels stuck in a bygone era - and not in a charming way. The locker rooms are cramped, poorly maintained, and frankly, they smell. The food is forgettable. The spa feels pretentious and operates on what I can only describe as a 1987 business model. I was told I'd need to order a nail job just to access the steam room. Make it make sense. The concierge was genuinely lovely - but it felt like her hands were tied by management's outdated approach. She seemed to want to help more than the system would allow. The events department was, in my experience, a major disappointment. Communication felt disorganized and unresponsive. When I asked for a simple proposal, I was told they "couldn't possibly do that for every inquiry" - in 2025, when AI tools can generate a polished, customized proposal in minutes. I tested it myself using Canva and Claude with their own metrics. Took me four minutes. The resistance to modernizing felt deliberate. Outside of the top-tier suites - which are reasonably priced by Colorado standards ---this felt like a mediocre hotel calling itself a resort. It is not The Broadmoor. It is not a Four Seasons. Those places deliver hospitality with humanity. This felt more like a zombie party with a great view. My honest opinion? It feels like ownership is either disengaged, burnt out, or simply no longer pursuing excellence. That said - if you're a Colorado local, the 10% room discount is a nice touch. Choose your room wisely, skip on-site dining, and check out 503W nearby for great prices and actual atmosphere. For corporate events? I'd look elsewhere.

These folks have been trained well in hospitality, from the front desk to housekeeping to security to the bars & restaurants. Lodging: we chose the Aspen cabin since it was just the two of us. I loved everything about it, other then the number of stairs to and from the main ranch: the decor, very comfy bed (although we were pretty tired after all of our daily activities!), having my very own fireplace, and the view! Food: Waaay above my expectations. Honestly, I was blown away with the cuisine - both the taste and the amount of choices per meal. Chef Cory was very personable and came to the table daily asking for feedback. He also had an awesome mustache face mask to respect social distancing while he was walking table to table. Horses: I mean why else do you think I chose this place?!? Amy and Tammy choose a horse for you based on your skill and comfort level with horses and if you are happy with your horse, you get to keep that horse all week. The herd is over 200 horses so there is definitely one to fit your experience level. My horse was Gypsy and she was a dream! She was super responsive and loved to lope the trails. People: Wranglers: they get in early and jingle the horses to the barn every morning around 6:15...definitely worth getting up to see! They are all very experienced riders and not only guide you on your trail rides, but will help hone your skills and answer questions about horses, the property, etc along the way. Everyone was awesome, but a special shout out to Abby and Halsey for taking us on an all day ride, and fixing my saddle bag for me when it fell off. Walker, Maggie, and Haylei were awesome and made every trail a blast. I feel like I am a way better rider now because of all of them. Servers: The servers are all very nice and ensure you are enjoying every meal. This year, due to COVID, we ate meals outside by the pool, and the servers did a great job of getting food out to you quickly and making sure you had everything you need. Grace was such a sweetheart and we saw her at almost every meal. Thanks for being the best wine pourer we could have asked for. Ranch hands: there are quite a few ranch hands on the property doing all of the odds and ends jobs, including guiding activities. Cooper was very helpful in coaching us through archery, BB guns, skeet shooting, and he managed to not laugh at our epic failure throwing hatchets. They also do a night of branding so bring your leather belts and boots for them to put a C Lazy U brand on. Management: great management team here. Dave, the GM, walked around during meals asking for feedback. Paul and Scott, two of the assistant GM's, made cowboy coffee over a campfire in the mornings and went above and beyond to make sure you were having fun. Paul also MC'ed the Shodeo, which was an absolute blast. Activities: The river that runs through the property and the pond by the main building were both great for fishing. The spa was excellent and the tent I was in had a glass floor to look down and see the river during the massage. Kids - although we don't have kids, the ability to have a group of trusted counselors take care of the little ones while the adults had fun was very impressive! All in all, highly recommend this ranch to anyone ready to have a good time. The ranch was beautiful and the people were friendly. We will definitely be coming back!
