oh my goodness who would ever thought in Florence Arizona you will find the treasure of a Mediterranean Greek restaurant! The food was five star. The Service was five star and the atmosphere inside the restaurant was five-star as well. I will definitely come back.

Met up with some family members. We started out with some stuffed grape leaves which were very good. Then we had saganaki "Opa". I enjoyed a gyro sandwich and we had a spicy gyro sandwich. Service was great. We had an enjoyable time.

I would give this restaurant 10 stars if I could! I have eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner at Mt. Athos and have never had a bad meal. Absolutely delicious!

    Falafel Pita

ordered the falafel pita with a side of steak fries. love the choice of string or steak fries. very basic falafel, but the fact that you can get falafel in Florence is a blessing. very friendly and attentive service.

We were in the Florence area for some other activities and decided to stop at Mount Athos for a late lunch. It seems like it's in the middle of nowhere but they have much to offer here. Their food is delicious, the service is attentive and the prices are reasonable. There was a meeting taking place in one area of the restaurant and's many other tables filled with patrons so it was a great indication that it's quite a popular local hang out. We had the Chicken Souvlaki pitas and were very happy with our tasty bites! The next time we're out in this area we'll have to come back for more tasty Greek goodness!

Returned with a group of 6 for lunch. Comfortable seating. Hailey took our orders and kept our drinks refilled. Had the Greek salad with gyro meat. Very nice. Big chunks of gyro, not little slivers. Very enjoyable

I've lived in Florence for nine years now and only recently tried Mt Athos, which was really a shame because the food was excellent. I believe that it's because I'm not really into Greek food,so I just didn't give it a shot. But they do pasta, burgers, liver and onions and so on. So don't wait, give them a shot. I am sorry I didn't do so until now.

The food was solid and tasty. Large portions, good prices, and much of it made in house. We had the gyro, hummus, and grilled chicken Greek salad and enjoyed all of it. The chicken had good flavor and was more roasted chicken versus a grilled breast which was a wonderful surprise. The salad was huge and fresh. The gyro was tender with lots of flavor. All the pita was warm and there was plenty with hummus and salad. The hummus was a particular stand out with jalapeño and cilantro. It was tasty, smooth, and not oily. As noted the prices were very affordable and the portions were large. They have burgers and fries and dinner plate options as well. If you need a quick bite this is a good place to stop.

When you enter the Gilbert Gateway Towne Center, you have to maneuver through tricky shared parking to find a space. We dined half past 6pm on Memorial Day, so thankfully parking was easier as I believe some businesses were closed for the holiday. Though parking is tight, there is no shortage of seating in this establishment. Some bench-style seating as well as chairs to accommodate whichever you prefer. What We Ordered: ~ The Great Greek Gyro (no onions) x2: My boyfriend remarked that the gyro meat tastes like it was reheated, which I also noticed it slightly tougher than a more authentic one I've had previously. Still a very solid gyro given this is a chain and fast service place with a generous portion. ~ Sides with our meals: French fries and lemon potatoes Personally, the lemon potatoes are a pass next time as very buttery and heavy. The French fries however, were fantastic! They appear to be twice fried to have an extra crunchiness. Overall, if I'm in the area and in the mood for Mediterranean, then I'd pop in to The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill. P.s. Don't forget to add your number for rewards via Toast!

The waitress never gave us or offered us any refills on drinks. She was gone most of the night. There's an upcharge for fresh bread and so I said yeah, we'll do it. She said she'd bring out the pee-packaged pita bread and the fresh bread that we paid extra for. Then she never brought out the pee-packaged stuff like she said she was going to. The bread was ok, but they only gave us 3 pieces of pita bread which were about the size of a sand dollar. This was not enough bread for 2 people with 3 dips. Also, the fries were the kind of fries you get when it looks like they haven't cleaned the grease in a while. The babaganoush was really good. But everything else was pretty mediocre. I've been here 3 or 4 times and everytime I feel as though the service is bad and the food is overpriced. It's really sad, but I want to like this place, but I can't. Also, they have a rewards program but my waitress didn't try to get me to sign up. I asked when I saw it. It's a pet peeve of mine. But- I guess she doesn't really care or offer it because she probably doesn't think people will come back. My friend who joined me tonight is Muslim and she needed a place to pray, but this place didn't have one. I was surprised to learn that tonight as well. Spend your money elsewhere.

Simple surroundings, but excellent food. This is one of those places, in my opinion. Ordered the Greek salad w/ beef kabob. They even asked how I wanted the meat prepared. I went for rare, and it was rare. Very fresh greens, soft and warm pita bread. Dressing on the side, which I like, because Greek dressing can sometimes be a little acidic. This was not. Smooth, with light acidity. Very tasty. The meat (see picture) was loaded on and delicious. Charred nicely on the outside, rare inside. Presented very well. Baklava for desert. What can I say - I've never really had bad Baklava. Very buttery, honey, pistachios. I'm giving five stars, because I didn't expect this to be so tasty. Expected good. Nothing fancy as far as dining, but very clean. But I don't order the tables and chairs - I order the meal, and that's what I eat. You order at the counter and they serve. The young lady was very friendly - perhaps limited English, but no one was rude. She served my food, and I forgot to grab utensils. She went back to get them w/ no attitude. I saw the cook (maybe the owner/mgr?) serve a couple and very friendly. I saw some bad reviews regarding service, so just wanted to explain that didn't happen to me. Anyway, I will go back here. Hopefully, will be as good as the salad.

They are perfectly seasoned and exactly what you'd expect. Unfortunately you get 4 stuffed grape leaves for $6. That's $1.50 for a grape leaf with about a tablespoon of filling. I'd either expect to get 6, or expect the price to be more like 3.50 or 4 dollars for the amount. I'm posting a picture of the beef souvlaki pita I ordered. It's $9.99, so basically $10 for about an ounce and a half of beef on a pretty basic store bought pita. Does it taste good? Yes it does, but for ten dollars, I'd definitely expect at least two more slices of meat. It just is not worth what is charged. I did not get the full meal with fries but it is $5 more to add fries to your order and I just can't imagine that it would be worth it. I did see another customer with fries and at best, I'd expect to pay maybe $3 more for what they were served. I don't expect to return. It's too bad because everything does taste good. It just isn't worth the price. Also, I ordered baklava with my to go order. There was only one table there eating and they'd already been served so they were not busy. Last night's visit solidified for me that it just isn't good here anymore. We used to love this spot, but our dinner last night felt like a series of unfortunate culinary choices: The Dolmades: They arrived sporting a weird, opaque film complete with unexplained chunks. It looked less like a traditional glaze or olive oil and more like a science experiment gone wrong. The Falafel: I'm not sure if these were meant for human consumption or if they were mistakenly harvested from a Lego set. They were minuscule, aggressively overcooked, and packed a random, spicy punch that felt more like a defensive mechanism than a flavor profile. The Gyro: The classic toppings were a bit of a ghost town. It featured zero tomatoes and a generous helping of onions that had definitely crossed over into "spoiled" territory. The only pleasant part of our meal were the spanakopita, which are obviously purchased, not made on site. It's genuinely disappointing to see a reliable favorite slide so far downhill. Here's hoping they can channel a bit of Joe's original standards and turn things around, but for now, we'll be getting our Mediterranean fix elsewhere.
