As someone that frequently stays on Marriott properties, I am pretty disappointed with my…read moreexperience here so far. To start, this is a hotel in an incredibly small town so by no means did I expect the Ritz but I expected more for $150/night. First off the hotel itself is old and musty with a fresh renovation right on top of it. So at first it looks nice then you start to look closer. Our room wasn't great, there was a stain right in the middle of the floor and chair. Looks like someone got stabbed honestly. A couple nasty stains on the bed too, I'd be worried but there is a strong smell of cleaning chemicals so I choose to believe the room is clean. Our bed was firm but after a night with a couple "juice boxes" it felt fine and I slept like a baby. The bathroom was the least renovated of the hotel and our shower is continuously dripping water. It's dripping FAST too, but I'm not paying the water bill so if management doesn't address it, I'm not worried about it. Now to the worst part of my stay... the breakfast. I assume Marriott requires all properties to offer the same breakfast because I've had the same offerings of scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits/gravy, etc at other properties but I can easily say this is the worst breakfast I've ever had in my life. That's not an exaggeration or hyperbole, literally the worst; I imagine this is what it was like to be on Kitchen Nightmares. The eggs looked and tasted like yellow sand, I don't even know how you manage that consistency with an egg. You could tell the biscuits were pre-baked, frozen, then put out. They were ice cold. Finally the bacon looked like it was cooked in about a month's worth of grease and was absolutely dripping when you pulled it from the tray. Even the orange juice tasted bad! Needless to say we immediately asked the front desk where we should get breakfast and they gave us numerous recommendations. I would be utterly embarrassed to serve that food to guests, I would never want to be viewed by others the way I view the staff. Overall, I hope I never have to stay here again, if you're in town it's the only hotel so get ready. I'm sure am ready to go home. UPDATE: I dropped a star based on further things we experienced. -We requested that our room be turned over (gave 24hr notice) and it wasn't. -There is one working ice machine on the property and it's in the lobby -The shower went from an occasional drip to now a non-stop stream -There is nowhere you can get water besides the one functioning water fountain in the lobby. -We asked for an additional pillow because one of ours was nasty and they said they didn't have any. Overall my experience went from a really bad Marriott property to thinking I'm staying at a Motel 6.

The photos do not do this place justice. Staff is super friendly and they say hello as you walk by and make you feel welcome. Rooms, are clean and cozy. We got the standard king and it was really nice. The grounds are immaculate, and beautiful. The pool is heated and we never couldn't find lounge chairs. The dock by the lake does get a bit busy if you don't get there after breakfast, but we still got chairs. There was a wait for the kayaks, but only because there aren't enough paddles. Breakfast is delicious and it was a good mix of fresh, healthy and with a few sugary goodies like donuts and muffins. It's a really wonderful, relaxing and quiet adult only resort.

The hospitality was so welcoming (shoutout to Melissa and David my angels), calm, sweet, and helpful. The grounds are gorgeous, the lobby beautifully designed and cozy, and the rooms gorgeous (floating stone slab bedside table yes pleeeasssee!) The complimentary breakfast was so yummy and had so many healthy options. The beach was lovely, the bikes were so fun, and everyone kept a quiet atmosphere that was serene but not strict. I'm from Los Angeles and have travelled all over Europe--this resort took the cake for my most relaxing experience. I WILL be returning as often as I can. Thank you thank you THANK you! I never write yelp reviews but this place was so dang good I feel called to share!

I was invited to have dinner at the Oak Cove Resort and was thrilled to attend. Having lived in…read morethe Paw Paw/Lawton area for 30 years, I have driven by their sign, saw their ads, but literally had no clue what to expect. From the moment we pulled in and drove down the long drive towards the resort, I knew I was in for special evening. It felt like I had awaken in a different age and time. The lodge is over 100 years but beautifully maintained. Eating on the front enclosed porch was a delight and so peaceful to look at beautiful Lake Cora. My mind kept wandering to what this area was like back in the 1920s when there were 2 resorts on Lake Cora and a train that brought people from the Chicago area. What a magical time that must have been. Bob and Susan are delightful hosts. They love Oak Cove and it shows in all the lovingly details throughout. Antiques are plentiful in every room, old photos and newspaper clippings that have been framed are hung on the walls. It's like walking into a time capsule. Touring the Lodge I kept saying this is so cool, I love this, how adorable. Every room is unique and special. Dinner at Oak Cove Resort is amazing. Everything is prepared and cooked in their kitchen and a lot of the items are from scratch. We started the evening off with a salad from the most unique salad bar ever - an old antique bed, covered with a beautiful quilt, and topped with a glass panel that holds all the delicious salad fixings. The lettuce was very fresh, a huge amount of toppings to chose from, and lots of different dressings. Monday night is Roast Beef night and Bob serves up the tenderest roast beef that I have had. The slice was just perfect for me. Mashed potatoes with homemade gravy (no words can describe how delicious this is), and helping of peas, and dinner roll. You can also add a dollop or two of horseradish sauce. If that wasn't enough, dessert was a chocolate brownie with ice cream. I literally thought I was in heaven. On top of that the coffee was just how I like it. We then walked around the resort. The Funhouse, filled with old arcade machines, books, puzzles, card table, TV, and bar, would definitely be fun place to hang out. The in-ground pool was very clean and is a big. The beach area had Adirondack chairs set up to sit and relax. Individual cabins are scattered through the grounds, along with a huge area for kids to run and play. What a memorable evening. My next to-do is to book an evening or two at the Oak Cove and transport myself to another time where life seemed slower and simpler.
