One of the best meals in the streets of Milan. If you're visiting Milan, the heart of the city leads you to the Duomo. Across the Duomo is the malls and major tourist attraction. As suck meals in this area are expensive. But for an amazing view of the church outside, there is none better than Duomo. Nestled right on the street this eatery has an amazing drink menu. Many people just choose to have their drink and enjoy the people watching around the museum. The drinks were amazing to start and I highly recommend you do a Spritz to start. The cocktails are strong and well done - you won't need too many to get a buzz. Stay for a while and eat as the food is very well done. They offer all meals, but I recommend going light and drinking and enjoy company. The service was amazing and while due to the location, the price is a bit high, it will easily be one of the best meals you have. read more

La Motta Milano 1928 is a good restaurant in the Galleria in Milan. I ordered the Caprese salad and the veal cutlet. My husband ordered the pizza and wine. The veal cutlet was very tender. We had Rignello sandwiches with mozzarella cheese and ham on Focaccia bread. Yummy!!! The bread was light and airy and the ham was flavorful and soft with a little hint of salt. It was a grab and go spot but so worth the stop. It is in the heart of duomo shopping. You must try this sandwich shop! It also has sweet treats available for purchase. read more

During our trip to Milano, we ending up eating lunch here twice and would gladly return. The outside patio is located at one of the main shopping area entrances, so there is congested. Both times the food was great, fresh and flavorful. It was a wonderful place to people watch and we were cautioned by the staff to mind our bags due to local thieves reaching in to grab them. The pasta, burger, salad and pizza were awesome. It's located near the Duomo and it was a quick walk to the metro. Stop by and give them a try and enjoy! read more

Unless you're desperate to grab a bite and drink, I suggest going elsewhere. This place seems ideal as it's right next the the duomo, but the service is close to awful. For a restaurant being in the smack center of the most tourist part of Milan, the staff sure like to "pretend" they don't know any English. It was an extremely hot day and we were looking for a shady spot to grab a quick bite and hydrate. We quickly wished you went elsewhere. The food wasn't awful, but wasn't much to it. read more

The service was quite nice- we were seating immediately on a busy night and the food came out pretty quickly. The ambiance is very modern and upscale but this is a touristy area, so it's OK to dress casually. read more

Shortly after we arrived the restaurant was overwhelmed with a line of hungry tourists waiting to get in. Servers were polite but too busy. Better pizza could be found anywhere and the Cutlet was very unimpressive. It was all edible but if you're looking for great Italian food, as you might expect in Italy, stay away from the tourist places, or do your research first. A touristy cafe at the entrance of galleria Vittorio Emanuele coming from Piazza Duomo, Motta is an institution in Milan. We got coffee (caffè in Italy is always espresso) and a marocchino, basically a macchiato sprinkled with cocoa powder, and a torta della nonna, a soft baked pastry shell filled with pastry cream. Coffee was average, not the best you can find in Milan, the torta was delicious, a very yummy treat! Service was ok, not particularly amazing, but not rude, and price was a bit expensive, which was too be expected. Don't go if you're on a budget. 4* is a bit of a stretch, but I feel that 3* would be too low. read more

Contrary to a lot of the Yelp Reviews, I thought the food was decent but the service was poor. There were only 2-3 waiters and a gruff woman sat us down for a table of 2, with no smile or greeting. However, I really enjoyed their spaghetti frutti di mare and saffron risotto. Note that the saffron risotto is a Milan classic but it's literally just risotto, no extra clams or other toppings - just the rice. It's a super convenient location and what I personally think is one of the better restaurants in the Galleria if you're looking to stay closeby. Prices were more compared to Florence ($23 for spaghetti frutti di mare, $18 saffron risotto, $16 pizza diavola). Also the salami on the diavola could have been seasoned better but overall delicious. read more

Our first stop in Milan, Motta Caffè Bar Milano was a great introduction to the typical espresso bar! Located on the ground floor of Il Mercato del Duomo and facing the left side of the cathedral, Motta is the perfect place to pop in for an espresso and a sweet treat after shopping in the Galleria and around Piazza del Duomo. The modern art deco interior design is quite stylish with lots of royal blue and old gold accents. The place begins filling up around 9:00 but the line moves quickly, so you can easily be in and out within 5-10 minutes. In the front portion of the cafe, you can order sweet pastries, sandwiches and espresso. In the back, you will find their full-service sit-down restaurant. Restrooms are on the third floor, accessible by stairs and elevator - don't forget to ask your cashier for an entry ticket. read more

Stopped at Motta near the Duomo to have a good meal at the outdoor patio adjacent to the plaza. After waiting 15 minutes we were seated and waited for service. After around 10 minutes our server appeared and immediately appeared disinterested in helping us in any manner. We asked for cocktails and he immediately started picking up our menus when we hadn't decided on what we were going to order. He seemed annoyed in having to accommodate American tourists. When we decided on an appetizer and main course we had to get his attention since he was lavishing attention on some younger at another table. We ordered mussels and clams and then a double filet of branding for the main. He immediately told us the fish was sold out. We then ordered salmon and finally got our drinks delivered. We got other the appetizer and main delivered simultaneously which is never a good thing but we didn't complain. However the main course didn't look like salmon and my girlfriend asked me to try a small bite to see what it was. It was a filet of beef under a sauce so we called over the waiter who immediately went into defensive mode by claiming we did order beef and since had taken a bit6 would have to play for the meal. My girlfriend went to the front desk to discuss the situation; after discussing the situation with a manager the salmon was ordered and the beef taken off our bill. No one ever came to check on us or ask us if we needed anything else. Very disappointing meal but the food was decent. Can't recommend Motta because of the lousy service. read more

Our friends are not big drinkers so it forced them to leave. Mind you there were roughly 20 open tables unoccupied. Upon arriving, the staff was rude and didn't pay us any attention. We ordered quite a large meal and it was horrible. Everything was dried out and over cooked. I was so looking forward to my meal at this lovely restaurant - close to the Duomo. It had decent reviews on Yelp - and I was excited to experience some pasta upon my arrival to Milano. The waitress was lovely - and my order was taken promptly. I was amazed how quickly my food arrived. Unfortunately - I was disappointed. The pasta was not properly cooked - and seemed to have stayed under warming lights for far too long. When I mentioned this to my waitress - she sent over the manager. He was VERY dismissive - and not at all helpful. I respectfully asked if they could replace the dish - or I could order something else. He argued that I had eaten part of my meal - and he would happily get me something different at my expense. He knew I was American - as my Italian was not great - but took obvious advantage when he surmised I was a tourist. What a shame. Think twice about eating here. The negative experience impacted my entire day. No one likes being taken advantage of. There are too many other simply WONDERFUL restaurants with owners and management that bend over backwards to assure a wonderful experience. My friend and I ordered a very simple dish, spaghetti carbonara. It arrived and looked fairly good. After two bites I could tell that it had been over cooked, with lots of scrambled egg in the middle which indicates too much heat. The meat had been thrown on top as if to be an afterthought and the spaghetti had been over warmed so it was all stuck together and very difficult to separate without a knife. I asked the waiter to take it away. He offered another dish but I had no trust in this restaurant. When the bill came they did not remove it from the bill as I requested. The manager came over and said that I had taken two bites so that he could not take it off my bill and immediately swiped the chip on my credit card charging me US$42. He did this over my protest so fast that I could not stop it. Heed my warning and stay far far away from this restaurant. Two blocks away from the tourist area and you will find many great Italian restaurants that know how to cook the basics. read more
