I ordered the stuffed cabbage and was surprised what they brought out. Pan seared napa kimchi, very moist and tender braised pork shoulder, sticky rice and kimchi broth, which was pretty mild. Once I got past the crunchy sticky rice and into the pork, the dish grew on me. The server said it's been on the menu since they opened 14 years ago, they call it Korean lasagna. Mott's is rumored to have one of the best burgers in town, but I'd had a Red Hot Ranch double the night before, I didn't try it. I saw a bunch of the being carried out to other diners, looked pretty good. They better be awesome for 25 bucks!
My pick for our weekly restaurant adventure. They are well known for their burger but once we saw it knew we could not handle though I saw delivered to lots of other tables. We had the dumplings, everything shrimp noodles and and stuffed cabbage. The dumplings were delish we both loved the shrimp noodles and we were on the fence with the stuffed cabbage. The pork shoulder stuffing was tender , I was expecting more cabbage. The staff were helpful and informative. We risked the patio with thunderstorms projected but they held off so the patio was lovely cool and not too loud. It was great to see some families with toddlers. I'd recommend.
My husband and I visited Mott St for a celebratory dinner and the vibes did not disappoint! I love then Michelin Bibs give off a casual atmosphere that is still elevated in flavors, presentation, and quality of ingredients. It's recommended that parties view the menu as family style and share plates. He recommended 4-6 dishes for us two and we were FULL after our 4. To start, we got the Crispy Chili Cauliflower which was fresh, bright, then slightly sweet and spicy. This was the perfect summertime starter and was a great portion. We also tried the Soft Shell Crab Special. This portion was definitely for 2 people. There was a nice crisp on the outside and I thoroughly enjoyed the subtly tart sauce they paired with the crab. For mains, we got the Mott St Burger & Stuffed Cabbage dishes. The Mott St Burger is highly rated in Chicago as a top contender. The bun was soft, toppings added a good flavor, and meat was juicy. The Stuffed Cabbage was not a favorite of mine but my husband absolutely loved it! To finish, we got the Miso Chocolate Torte. Save room for dessert because this was amazing! I would have considered other options more but our server highly recommended this one. It did not disappoint! Overall, this was a good dinner spot in Wicker Park. It has a great casual vibe inside and on the outside patio. Pricing was also very fair for portion sizes and quality of dishes.
Calling all foodies! This is a must if you are in Chicago! Great venue & vibes, family style, fun servers (mine asked immediately if I had any allergies or aversions and marked the menu for me of what to avoid). I don't prefer fish, but this place made me enjoy it! Great flavors in food and drinks. The burger others had looked tasty.
I loved Mott St!!!! We went before a show at Salt Shed & it was perfect that we could walk on over to the venue right after our dinner. My favorite thing we got was the garlic rice & crispy cauliflower. The tofu was good but not amazing. Our service was good and the patio was very fun to sit on even on a super hot day. Can't wait to go back here!!!!
Stopped in on a Saturday for a brunch! Mott St is very busy so highly recommend booking a reservation for table service. We sat at the bar and they offered full service. Ambiance of the restaurant was great with intimate lighting and music playing on speakers. I will say that the acoustics of the restaurant make it a bit hard to hear the person you are sitting next to. We ordered the Mott burger and the Papaya salad. Both were great options and paired really well together. The salad was refreshing, flavorful and a bit of sweet+savory. The burger was the highlight, cooked to perfection and the cheese felt like it was melted right into the burger. The sweet potato crisps added a good crunch to the burger. We enjoyed our visit at Mott St!
It was my 2nd time to this place. Food is very good. Not many vegetarian options but whatever they have is good except the Silken Tofu dish Love their Oyster Mushrooms. They are so so good, but very small quantity Brussel Sprouts was ok not so great Crispy Chili Cauliflower is also so so good If u like garlic, their Garlic Rice are very good too Deji Delight was good too. And their Lichi Mocktail is fine too.
We were able to snag a walk-in table and were seated on the patio, which made for a great atmosphere. The cocktails were creative, refreshing, and a fun way to start the meal. The standout was definitely the burger, it may honestly be one of the best burgers in Chicago. We also loved the cauliflower and the pork belly. Both dishes were packed with flavor, though I think they'd be even better with a side of rice to balance the richness. The only dish that didn't quite land for me was the shrimp noodles. They were a bit sweeter than I expected, and the flavors didn't come together as well as the other dishes.
How have I never been to Mott Street and how did we get lucky enough to arrive and be seated prior to 7 p.m. so we could still order their AMAZING burgers? (They are not served after 7 p.m.) Mott street has a small indoor space and a large outdoor space and every seat/table was occupied. It was an eclectic crowd and the vibe was young and hip. We ordered fewer plates than was recommended by our waiter and we were all plenty full by the end of our meal and still had leftovers. For six of us, we ordered three burgers (one couple shared theirs), the jackfruit bulgogi entree, two orders of garlic rice, crispy chili cauliflower, everything shrimp noodles, the imperial rolls and budino to be shared for dessert. What can I say about those burgers? Wow! Just wow. I had an egg on mine and when you pressed on the bun, the yoke of the egg would drip down. It was a messy burger to eat but with, hoisin aioli, pickled jalapeño, dill pickles, miso butter onions, american cheese and sweet potato shoestrings on the side, it was beyond delicious. Other favorites were the crispy chili cauliflower and the everything shrimp noodles. Nice, simple presentation of all the food and everything had great flavor. We were a little underwhelmed with the budino, but we loved everything else. The spacing of the food coming out wasn't always great. (We ordered two garlic rice dishes and one came early on and one very late in the meal), and the jackfruit entree came way after everything else, but it still would never deter me from coming back. It also had limited vegetarian entrees, with most vegetarian items being side dishes. It also wasn't cheap but that is all restaurants these days. A 20% gratuity was included in our party of six. Overall it was a great dining experience and understandable why they are known for their burgers and why it is hard to get a reservation!
My go-to at Mott St is the crispy chili cauliflower and their burger. The burger is enormous that comes with sweet potato crisps and a pickle spear, and it is juicy and flavorful. The cauliflower is seasoned with szechuan pepper corn but the sweetness offsets the spiciness and the numbing of the peppercorn and I love the flavors. I also tried the shrimp noodles and the kimchi udon, and I love the sweetness and the garlic of the shrimp noodles, with the shrimp providing a great seafood flavor. The kimchi udon was also creamy and flavorful, i just wish there was more!
The burger lives up to the hype. It's maybe a bit more greasy than I'd prefer but the flavors and textures are incredible. The service was quick and although I sat at the bar the patio looked lovely. It was very easy to get a spot at the bar but if you are a group I'd make a reservation because they were booked and busy at 5:30 mid week!
Came back after 5 years to try the brunch here! I loved dinner here the first time, but I've heard great things about their day time menu! They serve the special burger for brunch as well as limited timing at night, so obviously we had to order that. Honestly, there were at least 4 mains that we were interested in, but ended up getting the avocado three layer dip and the kalbi steak & eggs as well. The avocado dip was so interesting, but I liked a new twist on your average avo toast. I appreciated the toasted bread for being crispy enough without being too hard that it cuts up your mouth. The kalbi was so tender and juicy and a pretty decent portion for the price! I wish the kimchi breakfast potatoes had more kimchi flavor! We made the mistake of eating the burger last. It was still delicious, but I know it would've been 10 times better if we ate it while it was hot. Beware of those jalapeños though! The burger had every flavor: sweet, salty, spicy, tangy, creamy. Basically something for everyone. Service was prompt and friendly despite it being totally packed in there! Reservations are definitely a MUST. Free parking all down the street was also a plus!
The cabbage is what their known for but honestly thing it's just alright. My favorite however was the steamed fish. You wrap it in the sesame leaf and it tasted amazing.
In my quest to find the best burger in Chicago, this place was recommended by a few people. I went on a Sunday very shortly after they opened and was able to get a seat at the bar. It wasn't too busy when I got there but several people walked in while I was there. I only ordered the burger. It came out pretty quickly and I scarfed it down quickly . Very good burger. I wouldn't put it in my top 3, but it was very good and I would order again. It had a unique kick to it with the jalepenos and shoestring sweet potatoes. It wasn't quite as juicy as some of my favorite burgers but they also means it wasn't super greasy, so I didn't feel like a lump was in my stomach after. The bartender was really friendly and even gave me a sample of a frozen drink they had on tap. I appreciate that he asked if I drank alcohol before asking if I wanted a sample (since I was just drinking water) It was tasty as well! It's not a huge space so if you are going to go at a peak time or have a larger group, you may want to make a reservation. The bar has 10-12 seats, as well, so it's also easy to go solo. read more

One of my favorite restaurants to go to! The Mott st burger is the best burger in the city, it's unique and huge and delicious and I recommend adding the egg! Their veggie apps are also some of my favorite veggie preparations I've ever had, specifically the chili cauliflower and the oyster mushrooms. Also as someone who doesn't drink, they always have at least two amazing mocktails on the drink menu which I really appreciate. The service is always attentive and pleasant, and the vibe of the restaurant is pretty cozy / intimate (though pretty jam packed, it's a small space with some tight seating and a possible communal table seating). I will always recommend this place if you are looking for an intimate and delicious meal. read more

The service was quick and friendly. We shared 4 things between two people and it was a good amount. The fire chicken was the perfect amount of flavor and spice. Overall everything was really good. read more
What an amazing restaurant! The menu and how they serve food is up to the chef which is really really cool. All you do is order all the dishes for your group, 2-3 per person is recommended. I would say 1-2 per person depending on your appetite. Then the chef has the servers bring the dishes based on the best experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Delicious food and the service was fantastic! 10/10 read more
Asian inspired brunch special located in Chicago is known for bold flavors and unique presentation. The ambience was light and airy with both indoor and outdoor seating. The Mott St burger was particularly my favorite with the unique take on the sweet potato sprinkled to add a crunch. The coconut pancake was slightly thick and hard to eat so I would not recommend. I enjoyed the easy over eggs that was served over a hot skillet of fried rice. The service was great and our waiter was mindful of each of our preferences. read more

If you're in the mood for quality Asian food and fun drinks head to Mott St! Our table of 4 ordered their sampler so we could try a little bit of everything and this was plenty of food for us. This returns gives off cozy vibes and the staff is super friendly! I would definitely come back here to enjoy an elevated meal with friends. read more

Everything is so flavorful here. The last time I was here was back in 2016 and its still so good. They have a nice outside patio too. Char siu pork belly: It is cooked nicely and has a nice chew and texture Crispy chili cauliflower: It looks like fried chicken lol. It's so good you don't even notice that you're eating vegetables Stuffed cabbage: the kimchi, the crunchy rice, and pork were all a good combo and it looks like lasagna Oyster mushrooms: You cannot go wrong with butter that's for sure Everything garlic shrimp and noodles: Love the texture of the noodles Mott burger: great presentation but didn't try it bc my friend ordered it for takeout for her husband read more
I've been here twice and have had some of the best bar service of my life both times. They're BUSY, doing drinks for the patio, the restaurant and their own guests but you will want for nothing. I think our bartender's name tonight was Taylor (I'm hard of hearing so sorry if that's wrong!) and she was an absolute dream. The food is amazing and for my money, the best burger in Chicago. I've tried many of the "best in the city" ones and it's my fave. The whole fish is pricey but made for the perfect bite. Maybe my ONLY criticism is that I wish they had more dessert offerings but the drinks and dinner items are so tasty that I cannot in good conscience give them anything but an ENTHUSIASTIC 5 stars. read more

I mean that burger is one of the top 4 burgers in Chicago alongside Kuma's and Au Cheval. Superb, unique, perfectly executed. Love the hoisin aioli, the miso butter, then the crunch from the sweet potato strings, super unique combinations throughout and a perfect patty. Love it. Can't get enough of the burger. Will say, service was a bit slow, but we were hanging outside waiting for our burgers so no complaints. And our server was super diligent about allergies, so I get it. read more
Last minute dinner resy and it was amazing!! First off, the patio is so cute! They had many veggie and vegan options and were very accommodating to dietary restrictions. The cauliflower was the star of the show- so crispy and flavorful and good portion size. The mushrooms we got were also a unique dish- heavy on the miso. I personally didn't love the sauce on the tofu but the crispness was def there My friends loved the burger and the tuna dish! Overall a great find- can't wait to be back read more

Brussels sprouts - everyone's review said they were good but they tasted undercooked and under seasoned to me? Maybe off day? Cauliflower - v good Steak Kalbi - v good Fire chicken - chicken was pretty dry Miso caramel budino - so salty for a dessert??? read more
I came to try the famed burger for an early dinner as it's not available past 7pm. It was a good burger, but not in my top 3 in Chicago. I was slightly let down since the visual and description sounded like a winner. It's still a solid burger, but it wasn't the flavor bomb I thought it would be. Even if I got it with the cheese, I don't think it would've met expectations. The sweet potato shoe strings get soggy too quickly, and I don't think there was enough salt to balance with the toppings and egg. I'm usually someone who likes their food less salty as well. Maybe the hoisin aioli was too sweet, which contributed to the supposed lack of salt. The miso butter onions didn't stand out as much as I hoped either. The patties were cooked pretty well, although nothing noteworthy. The price of the burger is about right compared to other gourmet burgers, but not worth it in my opinion. For drinks, I got the spirit-free lychee blossom. This was great and refreshing. Since there are no fries on the menu, I asked the bartender for a recommendation on sides. They recommended the garlic fried rice. I forgot to take a picture, but it was just ok. It was plenty garlicky, but I wished it was more salty or umami. The rice wasn't stir fried well as it had a bit of a mushy texture. The rice had too much remaining moisture. Maybe the heat wasn't high enough or the rice wasn't old enough. As I was getting full and the rice wasn't that great, I took my leftovers to go. However, if it was more delicious, I think I could have finished it. Overall, the food was good but disappointing based on the hype. I still want to come back and try other items such as the mentaiko kimchi udon or the desserts. The menu seems really interesting, so I hope my experience was an exception! read more
The place: we sat outside. Communal seating, so probably not the place to share your deepest, darkest secrets, though there are some smaller tables. Welcoming vibe. Service was pretty exceptional - cleared everything promptly, filled our waters, and food came out quickly. Note: you do have to order the whole meal at once. The taste: we got the hamachi crudo and Brussels sprouts. Both were fine. The crudo was a little underseasoned and therefore underwhelming. I am notoriously anti-salt, so me saying this could have used a salt should be taken with more than a grain of salt. The burger, however, is as good as they say. We split it and we each still had a hearty portion. Balanced taste, interesting textures, messy goodness, properly dressed. It will get all over your hands and face, but it's a small price to pay (on top of the $21) for a hybrid of basic and elevated in one special sandwich. My face: 2 cocktails, 1 beer, plus three dishes = $115 pre-tip. Tipsy smile bc that was my first cocktail in 3 weeks. read more
We sat outside on the patio, which numerous other people have mentioned is a great space to hang with other people and enjoy a drink. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food, however, was just ok for me! It was good flavors but nothing 'wowed' me. My favorite dish was the wok-smoked gai lan, which had great bite and savory, deep flavor. read more

My second time coming here for brunch and it was just as good as the first time! The pancakes, the steak kalbi, the burger, everything is seasoned so well and a great Asian twist on the American classics. The servers were also very nice as well! It's a small space so definitely make reservations but I definitely will always recommend this place for brunch. read more

**this review is only about brunch** I've been to dinner and didn't like it but this is maybe my favorite brunch in the city, possibly the best Asian fusion too. I was so sad when it went away during the pandemic and then it moved to Second Generation, and then Second Generation closed but now it's back!! Both the pork belly Benedict and Galbi steak and eggs are works of art *chefs kiss*. very excited to go back and try other things as well. the service is good and they have a cute patio during the warm months! read more
I'm going to start with the worse part of this experience because it's the only reason why I'm giving this place a bad review . We sat at the patio which is lovely , but we saw some rats running around and at some point they were running right next to our table around the time we were having dessert . At that moment we finished our meal quickly and ran out of there . Rats are a common sight in Chicago but not the type of thing you're expecting to find in an awarded and slightly pricey restaurant like this. Anyway , I went there after a random person at a burger pop up recommended us to try the famous Mott burger . Unfortunately we got a 7:45 reservation and they only serve burgers til 7. Not a big deal because they have more options in the menu that sounded just as good or even better , we asked our server for recommendations because it was hard to decide . He was very knowledgeable about the menu and even recommended how many dishes to order , how to pair them etc . We ended up getting the everything garlic noodles , fried garlic rice , cauliflower , Brussels sprouts , misoyaki butterfish & the pork belly , as well as the two desserts they had available. For drinks we had the goma an old fashioned, and a lychee drink our waiter recommended but I forgot its name . I thought everything but the noodles were really good . I especially loved the pork belly , if there's a thing you NEED to try from the dinner menu is the pork belly . The patio is lovely . It has standard tables and community type of sitting , we were next to another two couples and we could overhear their conversations but nothing too bad . If it wasn't because of the rats I would say that we had a great time and delightful dinner . The way it ended ruined the experience for me . read more

Wow! The hype around Mott St makes total sense and I'm craving to go back already to try more of the menu. Split the Mott St burger (without egg) and Stuffed cabbage with a friend. Both items were flavorful and filling! The service was great and interior felt cozy. read more
Came for my boyfriend and I's anniversary, and we really enjoyed our experience! I love the variety of options on the menu whether its veggie forward dishes you're after, or meat and seafood. My favorites would have to be the King Crab Rice and Skirt Steak Kalbi. The King Crab Rice was giving so much umami and the texture of rice was perfectly oiled and soft. They were also generous with the crab, and it tasted very fresh. As for the Skirt Steak Kalbi-- I loved the grilled taste of the meat and the sauce that paired with it. It was a great balance of flavors. The dessert was also really good. I'm not a huge fan of super sweet desserts, so the sweetness level of the Mango Sticky Rice and Thai Tea Cheesecake was perfect. I really appreciated the little touch of adding candles to both desserts in celebration of our anniversary. The server was very attentive to the occasion, and all of our questions and needs. Based on my experience, I'll be back! Especially to try the infamous burger! read more
I see why this place is so highly rated- wow! It's a quaint spot in bucktown, right outside clybourn station. I had to get the burger... beware it's served only until 7pm! It was unreal. Truly the most unique burger I've had since it has an Asian flare to it. The cauliflower was delicious and a light app to complement the heavy burger. The waitress was attentive and great. read more

We were first one in the door at 4:30p Saturday. Sat in 2 seater by window. Place filled up fast over next 20 minutes. Food was great. We split the Mott burger, watermelon, garlic rice, and everything shrimp. The burger was unique in flavor and a meal in itself. Splitting it was perfect. The shrimp dish was tasty and the rice was good. The watermelon wasn't anything special but it was very ripe and refreshing. To me the star of the meal was the ricotta doughnuts for dessert. I could have had 2 orders! Service was fine but I wonder if it was because we were very early diners. Ambiance is another star of this restaurant. Small but interesting and vibrant. Outdoor patio looks pretty cool but we elected the inside because it was very warm late afternoon. All in all a great experience (except the heavy traffic on way in to the city). No traffic coming back home so it evened out. read more
The burger was delicious. One of the best first bites of a burger ever! Very messy but worth it. It's a pretty heavy meal so we definitely did not need to get the cauliflower but that was still rly good as well. Has a teeny bit of kick with the hot peppers. Everything was a good portion size as well. The service was good - we were checked up on pretty consistently and everyone was very kind. We sat at the bar which was first come first serve. I would definitely try coming early to get seating. read more

Michelin star food, but NOT a Michelin star dining experience. The food was exceptional and very unique. Well deserving of a Michelin star, but definitely pricey. My party really liked the shrimp noodles, butterfish, Mott burger, and the cauliflower was AMAZING! One of the highlights of the meal for sure. We also tried the stuffed cabbage, imperial rolls, garlic rice, and watermelon and these were all good but not as good as the other items. I really wish you could give the food 5 stars because it was very deserving. See below for the reasons I had to take away a star from Mott St. Unfortunately, we ran into some service issues at Mott St. The hostess wouldn't seat us on the patio for our 5:45 reservation when we arrived at 5:20 and the patio was empty! We even watched the hostess sit other parties who arrived after us. While it didn't bother me, a few members of my party were quite unhappy to put it delicately. We also had small issues like silverware not being present when our first course came out. Just very unexpected for a place serving Michelin food at these prices. Where this meal missed the mark for me, was the dining policy. Our server told us that the kitchen prefers if you order everything at once, not a problem. However, everything we ordered was brought out in less than 30 minutes. You couldn't put your fork down without another dish coming out! I would have preferred more time in between to enjoy each dish. What was baffling about this policy is we wanted to try another dish in the middle of our meal and were able to order it without any issue. This leads me to believe that you could order 3 items at a time? Who knows? I would definitely recommend Mott St for the food and the patio was wonderful! read more
This is a trendy Asian fusion restaurant! We came on a weeknight, and it was packed, but the food came out quickly. Our server highly recommended the cauliflower, which turned out to be the star of the show. We also tried the char siu pork belly, shrimp noodles, and shiitake mushrooms--they were good but didn't stand out like the cauliflower did. I definitely want to come back and try the Mott's Burger next! read more
I came to Mott St because of all of the hype around their burger. I was a little confused upon arriving by the vibes and location across the street from Lowe's, but wanted the experience regardless. I'll cut to the chase: The burger meets the hype!! The best burger I've had in Chicago to date. Better than the burger at Au Cheval. The overall experience is much less thrilling, but the food is no nonsense AMAZING. If you don't get the burger to at least try with your table, you're bananas. The crunchy sweet potatoes are absolutely life changing. The cheese is so perfectly gooey. The jalapeños add the most perfect level of spice that isn't overbearing. The bun is airy and the reasonably sized smash patties don't make me feel like I'm in a food coma after. There honestly isn't a thing I would change about this burger. I also loved the everything shrimp noodles to pair with the burger - They were yummy and garlicky and saucy which can never go wrong. The brussel sprouts were simple and crispy which I love. Finally, the miso caramel brownies were good, but the matcha whip cream made them next level. Very excited to return with friends for this burger!! read more

Second time here and always pleased. The burger for me tends to be a lot but definitely worth sharing. The sweet potato shoestrings, hoisin aioli are so delicious and pair well with the burger. We also ordered the Brussels sprouts which has lamb pancetta which was pretty good according to my friend, but I just stuck to the Brussels sprouts itself. It's definitely messy but one of the best burgers in Chicago. read more

Cool fusion concept. The noodles were definitely something unique and unlike anything I've has before. The area and ambiance itself is also very warm and welcoming, great summer spot with its open air seating. 4/5 because although the food is very unique and tasty I didn't find it memorable enough to stick in my mind. read more
