Absolute blast today took a level II intermediate class from Andre I learned more in one day than I have riding the past two years. I always struggled with turns in sand and on hillsides. Today we learned turns sitting, standing, did hill climbs rode single track, learned how to stop quickly under control. Moto Ventures can accommodate first time riders all the way to experts, highly recommend this training. They have 350 acres of private land just for classes to train on. Had a great day riding at MotoVentures with Andre! I'm a beginner rider and didn't really know what to expect; I'd mentioned to my dad that I wanted to get "competent" on a dirt bike, and he knew of this spot and decided it was the move. So, we drove out from San Diego to the beautiful desert of Anza and I had a full day of instruction on a Yamaha TTR230! Just spent this past Sunday training with Andre at MotoVentures Dirt Bike Training and had the best day ever! It was money well spent,to say the least. I took the Level 2 class and it was just superb-I'm already planning my next trip out there. I had a ton of fun working with Andre and Kelly and I feel 10x more confident venturing off-pavement. The training definitely challenged me but never felt extreme or dangerous; exactly what I was looking for. Having an expert instructor watch you ride and tell you exactly what you need to adjust is invaluable. My wife, 7 year old daughter, and myself went out with several friends. Gary took the adults (ranging from no experience to experienced) and Cole took 3 kids all around 7-8 years old. Total patience & thorough explanation of the exercises guaranteed a great day. Motorbikes were all 4-strokes, and the kids got automatics. I graduated from a 230cc to a 250cc because of my experience, but I would have been fine on the 230cc all day. The kids were all on 50's. Very nice trails & lots of room for the various maneuvers and exercises. We were initially concerned about the weather being too warm, but we lucked out with temps in the low 80's (we went in late June.) All in all super cool- I'm gonna look into an advanced class. read more

So after taking my son here several years ago for lessons with Gary and Andre, it was my daughter's turn. She had never been on a motorcycle. If you are looking into getting into motorcycling street or dirt this is the best class to take. I'm coming from street riding and I am so glad I took this class! I now feel much more confident both on the street and in the trails. They teach all the proper techniques in turning, braking, application of speed, picking lines, and proper rider position. Their number 1 priority is to make you a safe rider. The training area is huge and there are miles of trails that they take you on to try out and employ all the techniques they taught you during the morning sessions. They also make it fun! I also noticed that my mountain biking skills improved after this class. Wow! There's really nothing else to say. Gary and Rob with MotoVentures are tremendous. I came here today, endeavoring to find yet another way, actually, ANY way, that I might bond with my son. He is 11 and the next 6-7 years of his maturation process will be key. These are the years that I will either build a bond with him or watch him slowly step away from relationship. I needed something that worked! Everything else has failed. He doesn't do sports. He doesn't do music. He doesn't love working on cars. He doesn't want to start his own business...yet. I was running out of options. MotoVentures came as a referral from a friend. I was considering going out to the desert and renting a bike from one of the vendors. For nearly the same price, MotoVentures gave my son a motorcycle for a day, complete beginner riding instructions, riding gear (which included helmet, goggles, chest protector, gloves, socks, boots, pants, riding shirt, kneepads, and elbow pads). The instruction was second-to-none. They split attendees into two groups: A beginning rider group and an intermediate group. Gary took the more advanced intermediate riders, and Rob went with the beginners. Rob was the perfect professional instructor to the group. He was very clear on his instruction but was equally kind in his approach. He smiled a lot and had fun with the kids. I say kids, but there were, of course, adults in the class. The day started promptly at 8 AM, which I really appreciated. The email was very clear that they don't have time for people who wander in late without excuse. There was 30 minutes of classroom instruction, followed by 1 hour and 15 minutes of application on the bikes. Classroom instruction, to begin with, went over mounting the bike, the location of the ignition switch, clutch, front brake, foot break/rear brake, and other various minor technical aspects. My son has a little bit of trouble with attention, but as one of my pictures shows, he was intent on learning the entire time. He was so engaged and interested in the subject matter that he never even looked away. Rob was a great teacher! I was incredibly surprised that right after instruction, they got right into riding. There wasn't a lot of droning on and on about this, that, and the other. After the 30 minute lecture time, they were on the bikes and riding within five minutes. Various maneuvers were taught such as braking, right turn, left turn, and figure eights. There was another break and then more, maybe call it "advanced," instruction, involving a lot of the same lessons taught in the morning but with more technical application. We had lunch and then they had a great ride in the afternoon! Everything ended about 2 PM. Gary was incredibly accessible during the breaks. He mentioned over and over that he was always here for questions. He took time and was incredibly kind. I also love the fact that he got after my son for grabbing too many Icees. I think we placate young people too much in our culture. Again, incredibly kind, but stern and clear about the rules. Just what young people need. *****By the way: If you are looking for someone to coddle and cuddle your kid the whole day and let them disobey the rules and do whatever they want to, this isn't the place for you. Safety is absolutely first! The three rules are safety, control, and have fun!***** THE VERDICT: MAX LOVES IT! He can't wait to get back. I am so excited, as well! I rode three-wheelers for about 10 years when I was growing up. It was my favorite thing to do! I purposefully didn't take instruction myself because I was prepared for another disappointment. Not this time. We hope to be back all summer. Gary said he is more than willing to work an individual plan for Max to get out each week and work on his riding skills. After obtaining my M1 license, I wanted to explore a little bit. I thought dirt bikes would be kinda cool to try, so I signed up for their Intermediate-Level 2 class. According to their website, "Level 2 is for novice to advanced off-road riders, dual sport riders, street bike riders". After taking the class and not doing so great, I would say that the class description (and screening) needs to be clarified or altered...as a novice rider, I don't believe I was prepared for an intermediate class so it wasn't as enjoyable for me as I had hoped. While Gary and his son were friendly and knowledgeable, I am doubtful that I would sign up for any more classes here, mainly because of the cost. For a whopping $355, it's only about half a day's worth of riding...if it was a full weekend, I would recommend it. Otherwise, if you have dough to blow, then go for it because these guys were nice and it's a different experience. read more

Ii would recommend the Mototorcyclce Safety Foundation MSF class instead of here for beginners. I took that class and it was awesome as were the facilities. I took two 12 year olds there and myself. We were half the class. The class was a 6 year old to a 62 year old The owner worried more about his bikes like burning a clutch than the kids. Never did they teach or instruct safe distances but then they'd yell if on a trail they got to close and the 6 year old was always dumping. They took young kids on trails before the had the skills to do so. The boys were trying to learn and he got down on my son. They actually put them in timeout for not using clutch as they thought the should. No positive youth skills. He disinterested my son in riding there again which I found incredibly poor just business sense By contrast so many more skills were taught at MSF and they were interested in you learning and having fun not a bent fender. MSF taught obstacles, hills, emergency hill, tight turns, standing. None of that was taught here. If novice go to MSF. read more

Been street riding for six months, but wanted some dirt knowledge and experience. Heard good things about MV and they did not disappoint. My daughter and I took a beginners course in throttle and brake control, how to turn safely , and how to shift gears. My husband took an advanced class in balance and speed and hill bike recovery. By the end of our 5 hour lesson, we were riding trails and hills confidently for our skill level with the watchful eyes of our instructors leading the way. Outstanding experience! Went to MotoVentures based off of a referral from an experienced rider. My son and I did the Level I course. Couldn't be more impressed. Gary and Andrei were awesome and very welcoming, and extremely professional. Everything was very efficient from welcome, to gear issue, to the instruction. Perfect balance of riding time and lessons. The facility itself is easy to find and very well laid out. Bikes ran perfectly and were in excellent condition (Yamaha TTR230 and TTR125). As a long time dirt bike rider I was thrilled when my grandson finally, at 16, announced he wanted to ride. Wanting him to get a firm foundation I talked around with friends in the moto community and they pointed me to MotoVentures riding school. I'm sure glad they did! The one day beginners class was perfect. Students varied from as young as 6 to a couple ladies I'm guessing we're in their 40s. Class started out with a full outfit of riding/safety gear and discussions on safety and what they would learn about the bike and themselves. Lots of work with the "clutch" skills, a topic that is tough for most first time timers and this group was no different. Next came shifting, steering, leaning your body, stopping, etc. After the lunch break it was back on the bikes for more training and a chance to apply everything they learned on some fun trails and dirt roads around the property. The trainers were knowledgeable, patient and thorough. All through this they also conveyed their love of riding and the need for riding safely. Well worth the money! Dave, Dave, Dave, and Steve (me) took Gary's trails class yesterday (Thursday April 21,16). First let me say what a beautiful location! He is on Indian Land and has multiple riding areas (tracks, obstacles, rock piles, "cut into the land" single track around the property, and sand washes). All four of us have taken many motorcycle training classes and all of us agree Gary LaPlante is a world class instructor! He cares about the learning that is happening in his classes, he modifies his approach to each individual customer and communicates with that customer on their level focusing on their specific needs. His calm clear voice makes it easy to try new techniques and push yourself to expand and grow your motorcycle handling skills. He gives you a polite shove in the right direction and tests you to move to the next challenge. I wish I took this class 10 years ago, I am hooked!
