CRAZY STORY... I couldn't recommend this place enough or more specifically Jim Gleason. You see in…read more2014 I had an AVM brain rupture and am considered mentally disabled . Well after not being able to drive for 3 years after my brain surgery i decided to give driving a shot with the "driving program" at a local hospital which turned out to be a SCAM because the "therapist" never even took me behind the wheel after a 6 month program (BEFORE THE DRIVE TEST). So at the time my parents helped me find this place , a place that would work with someone with a disability and it just so happened to turn out that Jim Gleason pulls up and we had a little reunion with my parents after literally not seeing Jim since I was like 17! I am 40 now. Anyway point here is that Jim is SO patient and motivating and more than that he's understanding . Just wanted to boast about this man because this is the 2nd time in a span of around 23 years that he helped me regain my freedom , confidence , a job and because of him I am able to drive to work church or where ever I need to be! THANK YOU JIM I'll never forget you. I came on here 9 YEARS later because someone on the SM community page is asking for recommendations for a good driving school and so I had to show some love. I'm SO appreciative! Picture was taken in 2017 when I passed my 2nd driving test (IN THE RAIN!) with the help of Jim Gleason at American Driving School.

We signed up our 16-year-old daughter for classes at West Coast Driving School. It turned out to be…read morethe best choice we could have made. Faith, the lady at the front desk, was incredibly helpful. We even got to pick between a female and a male instructor, and we decided on a lovely lady named Regina. Regina was so kind and really helped our daughter feel at ease while learning to drive. Today, our daughter successfully passed her behind-the-wheel test at the DMV. THANK YOU!! everyone at West Coast Driving School

My daughter has been receiving lessons at West Coast Driving School from Walter Cyz. The first…read morelesson she said he was impatient, but she thought he was teaching her to drive and maybe it just seemed that way. After the second lesson, she said he was impatient and rude and argued with her. I called the school and I got him on the phone. I told him what she told me and yep, he began to argue with me by defending everything he said, which I did not ask for. I finally told him enough to get him to stop. He said he wasn't arguing with my daughter and I told him the evidence speaks for itself. If he is arguing with me, he was arguing with my daughter, most likely. I asked for another driving instructor and he said I could get another one for the final lesson. I would request not to use Walter when setting up the lessons, and if they refuse, go to another school. Other than him, it has been a decent experience. They work with scheduling and try to accommodate. But to spend 2 hours in a car with a guy who acts like a jerk when you are 16 years old is not good. It is hard enough for kids to learn to drive on command, and to have some guy being impatient and rude in the car with you, is unacceptable. Finally, Walter had my daughter stop at 7/11 for snacks In the middle of her lesson.

My daughter is in her second year at Native School and we cannot say enough good things about it!…read moreUnfortunately there has been some bad publicity because a former employee (trying to steal students away to a competing school she was opening) fed parents misinformation that scared them, including launching a really personal attack against the amazing director, Shannon, who is an incredibly transparent and thoughtful preschool director. She hosts regular meetings for parents to talk to her and will also always be happy to hop on a meeting any afternoon to discuss any questions and concerns. The program itself stood out to me immediately for being a really good supportive model for development. The students are not playing "Lord of the Flies" out in the woods, they are guided and supported by amazing teachers who spend their afternoons writing documentation of the learning in their classrooms and designing emergent curriculum. We could not be happier with the school we chose and our daughter loves school passionately. We have even decided to keep her in Native School another year instead of moving to the free public TK because of how much we love the program and the teachers.

***Warning to parents*** My experience with the teachers…read morewas generally good but you could tell there was a disconnect between them and upper management due to the high turnover rate and disruption in teacher continuity. The frequent and disruptive staff changes significantly effected my 4 year old son who was upset to see teachers come and go. At the end of our semester for 2024-2025 it became worse and substitutes/new faces were very common. We were told by some teachers that quit that safety regs/guidelines were not being followed(especially on rainy/stormy days). All that being said, we decided to pull our child out from the Fall 2025 semester. We had already paid for it but we figured we would be returned our reservation money due to the circumstances. Management refused our first attempt to reimburse us even after my child's spot was filled(Bad business etiquette). So here we are with our reviews and our next steps will be small claims. In the contract it states that they will maintain a consistent and properly staffed program...That was not our experience.
