I meant to write this review about a year ago, but I forgot until now!…read more I'm 40 years old, and I never had a driver's license until I went through North County Driving School. I don't know if Marcus is still around, but he was an excellent instructor! Very patient, friendly, fun, professional, and knowledgeable. I failed my first try because I made a dumb mistake, but rescheduling was easy-peasy with this team, and I got my license on my second attempt a couple of months later. I never met Bruce, but I spoke with him a few times over the phone, and he offered some great advice that ended up helping me out. I never really got to thank Bruce for how much his team helped me overcome one of the biggest hurdles of my life, but these guys are fantastic, and they'll work with you no matter what it takes! Thanks, Bruce & Marcus! EDIT: I forgot to mention that I initially scheduled with them just as COVID kicked off and the DMV shut down. Bruce let me reschedule after restrictions were lifted and didn't charge anything extra, even though I waited over a year to get the ball rolling again. Truly a professional and classy team!

I told them this was unacceptable and that I would be contacting the BBB. About 5 minutes later "the owner" who refused to provide his name, called me and cussed me out, called me a "little b***h" and told me to "go f*** myself 5 or 6 times" I would never trust these people to drive your kids around. Absolutely disgusting excuse of a business. Edit - So apparently the owner's name is Frank. @Frank, regarding your response, no one was nasty to your staff, nor did I curse at you once. You have a screw loose, but you do you. If you think that publicly acknowledging that you took the time to pick up the phone and call one of your customers to cuss them out is a good look for your company then more power to you. It is not hard for me to imagine why it would be hard for someone like you to retain your staff - I feel sorry for the people in your charge. Edit #2 - LOL at the owner editing his first response. Buddy needs to learn some self-control. Glad my kid did not wind up in one of his cars!

CRAZY STORY... I couldn't recommend this place enough or more specifically Jim Gleason. You see in…read more2014 I had an AVM brain rupture and am considered mentally disabled . Well after not being able to drive for 3 years after my brain surgery i decided to give driving a shot with the "driving program" at a local hospital which turned out to be a SCAM because the "therapist" never even took me behind the wheel after a 6 month program (BEFORE THE DRIVE TEST). So at the time my parents helped me find this place , a place that would work with someone with a disability and it just so happened to turn out that Jim Gleason pulls up and we had a little reunion with my parents after literally not seeing Jim since I was like 17! I am 40 now. Anyway point here is that Jim is SO patient and motivating and more than that he's understanding . Just wanted to boast about this man because this is the 2nd time in a span of around 23 years that he helped me regain my freedom , confidence , a job and because of him I am able to drive to work church or where ever I need to be! THANK YOU JIM I'll never forget you. I came on here 9 YEARS later because someone on the SM community page is asking for recommendations for a good driving school and so I had to show some love. I'm SO appreciative! Picture was taken in 2017 when I passed my 2nd driving test (IN THE RAIN!) with the help of Jim Gleason at American Driving School.

This lady absolutely does not deserve to be an instructor. Strict, mean, slammed onto the brakes multiple times NONE of them being safety reasons. Just because she wanted to. Made me cry. Said things like "how are you even going to pass your test". Mind you my text was the following day. Making me even more nervous. And the funny thing is of course I passed my driving test at the dmv LOL. But what I want to say is if you are thinking of choosing this school. DONT.. My other friend also said that Margarita was a horrible person to be an instructor as well. Hope she gets removed from this facility.
