I just finished the Basic Rider Course, it went well. One weekend on a couple of Harleys, they have smaller Yamahas too, and I got the road test waiver for a motorcycle license in New York. Now I just have to take my card to the DMV. Instructors were great, bikes were cool, good crew of local students. Staten Island is where it's at. They don't advertise or do any of that everyone that goes there had heard about them by word of mouth and that says a lot about how good they are! First I have to recommend this course for any motorcycle operator. If you are experienced or never operated a motorcycle. The instructor that I had was Enrique. He was so professional and patient. I took the basic rider course with Enrique and it was great! Before this course, I had no riding experience other than riding a little on a moped. Now I have my motorcycle license waiver. I am a new learner to Motorcycles. I am a Forty year old man. I have worked for UPS for 21 years this August. I deal with all sorts of people from all over the world on a daily basis. I have awards for safety and a clean driving record. One thing I know us that learning is different for everyone. I felt I was doing well for my first time riding. I was confident in my progress. I even gave a fellow student a ride during break to get something to eat at the request of my instructor Jeffrey. I tried to be a team player and make friends as I have been doing my whole life. As the day was getting longer about 3pm, I started getting somewhat confused about some orange cone exercises. I was just skipping some cones. Not intentionally. I was learning. Other students were also making errors and one even fell off her motorcycle after the instructor Jeffrey told her to go faster! I have been driving a Clutch for many years and I did not have an issue with it specifically. Others were stalling their engines rightfully so. It was there first time riding also. Jeffrey started singling me out to other students and I noticed he was belittling me. The tone he used to correct others was different than me. Jeffrey started to make it seem like I was a nuisance for him. Like I said I am a forty year old man and if I feel I am being spoken down too or belittled I will confront you about it. Especially if I am paying you for service. After I asked what the issue was Jeffrey told me to pull over. He left me sitting there for fifteen minutes until he came over and told me he was sending me home for SAFETY. I then asked Jeffrey to explain how I was being unsafe compared to the othere riders, some of which did not stop their bikes after the rider in front of them stalked out. That was one of the first safety issues they instructed us on. Jeffrey then preceeded to tell me this wasn't about them it was about me and then tried giving me a number for a different Instructor. This is at 4:30pm. The class was scheduled to end at 6:30pm. Plus I also paid for the next day. The right thing for Jeffrey to do would have been to at least have a man to man talk with me or give me a warning. There was no leeway with him. I told him he could keep his paper. MSF isn't the only game in town. I am going to get my license and give my money to someone else. read more

I was a student with a flawless driving record and experience in electric/moped bike street riding. I enrolled in the First-Time rider Basic Rider Course at Motorcycle Safety School at the College of Staten Island for the Saturday (09/18/2021) and Sunday (09/19/2021) schedule. I was distraught with my whole experience at the motorcycle safety school. Jeffrey was rude, impatient, inconsiderate, and condescending. He insulted me after failing the written portion, he questioned me, "you graduated from college, and you can't even pass this test? What happened?" I find his comment very insulting from the way he questioned me. It is not a nice thing to say, just because I graduated from college does not mean I am a specialist in motorcycle testing. I failed the written test after I rushed the questions because Jeffrey was rushing me to put the chairs back so we can get started on the skills exercise, while still taking the exam after I explained to him that I am still taking the exam. He retorts back, "You're not finished yet?!" as everyone in the group was putting back chairs and waiting on me as though I am a nuisance and wanted me to hurry up. Jeffrey was also inconsiderate because of the fact that he did not allow one of his students to use the bathroom and ordered him like a child to hold it in when the student really needed to use it. The student was a grown man in his 30s-40s and was being patronized like that in front of the class is just appalling. Depriving a student of the need to use the bathroom is downright inappropriate and unethical. Furthermore, he asked the class for instructor feedback during the course right before my skills test evaluation, I could not honestly provide any feedback earlier in the course to him directly due to fear of retaliation that he will fail me or "counsel me out" for being an unsafe person or for "safety" if I provided negative feedback to him right before he evaluated me. The point system can easily be manipulated based on how he thinks of you if I told him what I really thought about his behavior. Since I passed the skills test evaluation because I managed to keep my mouth shut; therefore, I am free to post honest feedback right on this site about his rude behavior. He was about to send me home just for trying to learn to ride a motorcycle for the first time without allowing me the opportunity to make mistakes. He also criticized me by telling me "YOU don't KNOW how to drive a car," as the reason for stalling the motorcycle engine; when I do in fact know how to drive a car. Why else would I provide him my driver's license in the first place? He tried to fail me and criticized me with illogical reasons just for struggling with the motorcycle engine stalling issue for the first time, which bears little to no relation to driving an actual car or riding a bicycle. A car's engine does not stall and shut down like a motorcycle engine would because a car does not have a throttle nor a gearshift lever on your feet that require simultaneous movement along with the clutch lever's attention. If you really want to pass with a respectful smooth instructor, do not take him. He is a disgrace to the motorcycle safety school. If you can avoid him, you will thank me. At first, I was excited about riding a motorcycle, but I lost that passion after taking Motorcycle Safety School with Jeffrey Jenkins. When I showed up on the first day, he did not introduce himself to me, he did not say hello. The first thing that came out of his mouth was, "Do you drive?" and used that as an excuse throughout the course to criticize me after I started to learn to ride the motorcycle for the first time during the exercises saying that he will send me home because I do not know how to drive a car simply because I was having issues with engine stalling. I felt singled out and only had to keep my mouth shut in order to not be counseled out for "safety." I couldn't even ask questions either because he looks annoyed whenever you ask questions and can counsel you out for not knowing something. Furthermore, upon being issued the "retest" paper, when I was called for a group meeting, Jeffrey handed me a motorcycle purchase coupon and then snatches it away from my hand and gives it away to someone else because I did not pass the written test. It was disgusting and disheartening that he has to do that to me in front of the group. I walked away in shame as the group was laughing at me. This experience overall with the course is beyond subpar and I will not be coming back, especially with poor quality instructors. I can honestly say that due to his rude tone towards me and condescending attitude, he does not have a "safe" mouth and that can be a safety concern for teaching first-time riders how to ride a motorcycle and get on the streets. A word of advice to Jeffrey, you need to seriously consider being retrained as an instructor or go home. read more

I took the License waiver course 2 weeks ago (and my husband done it a year ago as well)and i was very happy with the instructor i think he's name was Enrique. He was really detailed explaining and demonstrating all the exercises before we begun practicing. I had years of experience riding and I actually felt like im leaving with more experience after i was done with the course. Enrique gave us definitely some good useful tips/advices and im happy to use them on the street. i was the only woman in the class that day and i was really comfortable everyone was nice and all of us liked the instructor he was professional and he has some serious knowledge of riding and teaching for sure. Took the Basic Rider Course first time and got my road test waiver! My instructor Ali was very patient and encouraging. I was the youngest in my course and the least experienced but I didn't feel singled out in any way. We were all treated very well and I am very happy with how this course was laid out. I was a little nervous because I had never even touched a motorcycle before, but I eventually got the hang of it and I learned a lot of useful information. I will say that I think the Harley Street 500's were probably too big for me but they were a good size for other people so it's just a personal preference and also there were smaller bikes to choose from. The parking lot also is a little difficult at CSI because it has some pot holes and is uneven, but overall it was fine. Would highly recommend to people who want to get their M endorsement or just want to try something new. read more

Took the MSF BRC course this past weekend with Jeffrey at CSI. He was inpatient, condescending and just overall not the type of instructor that should be teaching a beginner rider course. Day 1 went ok for most of the students.. Jeffrey seemed to be happy with the progress we were making and had no complaints (though he did talk to some of the students in a really condescending way). Day 2 his attitude changed and was very short tempered. He'd ask if anyone had a question and when questions were asked he seemed to get really annoyed as if he was being bothered. It was 90+ degrees out and he didn't let us break for lunch but just kept dragging out each exercise. He ended up failing me on the skills test even though I thought I had done pretty well (as did the rest of my class). Jeffrey did a demo of the u-turn part of the test and he even went outside the line (but for some reason it was acceptable for him to redo it and he even thought it was funny). He also drove off at one point with his kickstand down - which I'm sure he would've berated any of the students for doing. This review is not based on the result of my test but solely on my experience with the instructor and the course! The other students in the class have the same thoughts about him even though they passed. I'll be scheduling a retest but will be asking for a different instructor. If you're considering signing up for the basic rider course, I'd strongly suggest confirming with the office who the instructor is on the days you're looking at and steer clear of Jeffrey if possible. read more
