Dirty/paint peeling on walls and bedboard remote missing 6 buttons mold in shower, lights don't work

The whole room was scary. Bare wires where the smoke detector should be. Light switch by bed was torn up. I was too scared to use the light above bed. Holes in curtains. Fist hole by the window. Towel rack ripped off the wall. The shower curtain was too short & water flooded the bathroom after a 5 minute shower. The heater/ac was somewhat damaged but still usable. If I wasn't so tired I would've got my money back & went elsewhere. read more

We stayed here in 2019. We booked this place since it was affordable. We checked in and the room wasnt the nicest. It was in an extremely sketchy area filled with homless people, tweakers, and drug addicts. And I'm pretty sure one of them scratched my parents car. The shower was nasty but the beds were fine. Avoid this roach motel. Paid $95 for a room and listened to cars flying in and out of parking lot, doors slamming, loud music, people yelling and a room that shouldn't be more than $50 a night. Toilet and light switches were broken, walls were nasty, you could see light through the crack in the door. Laid in bed and started to itch. Looked for bed bugs and fleas but didn't see any. Do NOT stay here. I come out here for work a few times a month and usually get a better hotel but firefighters are occupying the nicer hotels. I got here and tons of homeless in the parking lot and soooo much garbage. You'd think they'd clean it up for the firefighters staying here but nope. I go into my room and find tons of cockroaches. I asked the cashier what their protocol was and apparently they don't care about the roaches. Ignore all the cute photos they provided to Yelp. This place is nasty. I want to share what an amazing experience I had when checking into Motel 6 south in ukiah. The manager Albert personally checked me in. He was extremely accommodating tending to all of my requests effortlessly. This was much appreciated since I had worked all night. I was so very happy to be accommodated so quickly. The entire staff! you Motel 6 and staff for all that you do! It is appreciated!f had warm and friendly smiles and were eager to know how they could help. We decided to stay here because we had driven over 800 miles in route to Humboldt and needed a place to crash for the night. Never again! I'd rather sleep in the back of the truck and bathe in the river. This place is disgusting! Don't be deceived by the photos! $122 a night? Really?! They shouldn't charge more than $50 a night. Total crack motel. Saw shady people everywhere: gang members and dope fiends. It is filthy on the outside. The room was clean enough for their standards I guess. The bathroom doors are too narrow for the space. They are sliding barn doors, so it doesn't give you enough privacy. The shower is flush with the floor, so water goes everywhere. Although the facility is in good shape and the pool and spa area are well-maintained, this Motel 6 attracts a clientele that scared us. Other guests stomped down hallways throughout the night. We could hear yelling and even screaming that gave us bad nightmares and made the night sleepless. It was miserable. read more

Worst experience ever. I was sent here for 2 weeks by my job. Here is what I found... 1 - WiFi unavailable until i mentioned there was an issue to the front desk. 2 days later, Still down. Makes online meetings tough. 2 - No coffee maker in room OR at front desk OR lobby. Had to walk to gas station for some. 3 - No breakfast of any kind. 4 - No Soap, no shampoo, and no conditioner. 5 - The local people here seem SHADY, hang out in the parking lot during the DAY, and I had to look over my shoulder whenever I go outside. I f only I could give this negative stars! I'd driven 8 hours and pulled into this Motel 6 where I had a reservation. Motel 6 takes pets! I paid over $400 for 4 nights. Entering my room I noticed the door did not lock. Next, the loud beep from the fire alarm that pierced my ears every 30 seconds. Finally the large pool of urine (?) in the middle of the floor. Exit. The parking lot is full, and I mean PACKED with homeless people. They're going into two rooms next to mine. I pass a guy carrying 4 bongs, then 2 guys carrying a keg. Finally 4 people carrying a full sized beer pong table. Nope - not doing this! I went back to the office and complained. The office person checked her computer and said, "there's no one in those rooms." So helpful. I suggested she look outside, but she declined. At that point, two filthy guys walked into the office and asked who they were supposed to pay for the party. The office person offered me my money back. Yes, please, as fast as possible. Then I was notified I would not receive my refund for 3-5 days. So helpful!! I drove to the South Ukiah Motel 6. It was clean, quiet and the door locked, the fire alarm didn't shriek, there were no pools of anything on the floor, and - most importantly- no Phish concert traveling party next door. I called Motel 6 corporate but they were closed. I sent an email and a week later have not received a response. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU WANT TO SLEEP OR BE SAFE!!! read more

Yeah... this was a last minute thing to stay here. First off when we got there the woman at reception told us that they'd actually already had those rooms blocked for other people but Expedia for some reason had sold them to us but she said she would put us in there because we were only staying the one night. Awesome. As this is all happening there's some characters outside the front door which none of us felt comfortable being around. It was not the most welcoming feel. The room itself was probably not clean. There were a lot of inconspicuous stains, especially on the carpet. The bed sheets did look clean though. The shower curtain was filthy and there was a lot of hair left on the walls. There were also a couple of soaps left with some small black hairs on them, which was a little off putting. Weirdly there was a roll of toilet paper left with literally a scrap on it. And nothing else. For a one night stop off it's fine. I wouldn't stay here longer. read more

Where to start... Don't stay here. We rolled in to town to check in after a long day of driving, tired enough that we missed the warning signs. The first red flag should have been that they didn't give us a receipt, didn't ask for a phone number. They did check my ID, so there's that. We walked into the room to be overwhelmed by stale smoke smell in our nonsmoking room, I wondered aloud if I should report it to the front desk to avoid being charged when we checked out. I've stayed in non smoking rooms that smelled before, but this was strong and worse than usual. My kid pointed out that they had to know, since the lady called housekeeping when we checked in and it had just been cleaned. There was a cigarette hole burned into one of the blankets. The place was in terrible condition with loose outlet covers, peeling paint and patch jobs on the walls, and just generally in very bad condition. When we went back up to the front desk I noticed the coffee bar had been torn out to expose bare cement floors, there was a paper sign saying it was temporarily unavailable. Only one of the three can lights in the room worked, we could barely see with the curtains closed, we used flashlights on our phones to check for bedbug signs under mattresses as that's the first thing we do in any motel room. The one light that worked was weak and flickered. I was worried when it actually got dark outside we wouldn't be able to see at all. After 10 minutes another light started to light up a little and flicker, but it was still dark and I was a little bit worried about electrical fires between the lights and the outlets. We sat in the dark on our phones trying to pretend that this would be ok, after all, it was just for one night and we were tired. We left the bathroom door open and turned on the light so we could kind of see in the main part of the room but not really. There were at least 6 flies in the room when we arrived, I trapped them between the curtain and window and tried to pretend everything was ok and pretend this was not the most ghetto motel I've ever stayed in (and I've been dirt poor in the past and stayed in some ghetto motels.) But thank God it was dark, because that meant the cockroaches came out early so we saw them before being there long or waking up to them in the middle of the night. To be fair, the sheets looked clean and we didn't see any sign of bed bugs on initial inspection. But after being in the room for about 30 minutes, unwinding from our drive, my kid pointed at the wall behind me and says "mom, don't mean to alarm you, but is that a cockroach?" And it was, walking down the wall behind my head. We both go our flashlights back out to confirm because it was so dark. At 4:00 in the afternoon during the summer. We packed our stuff and headed to the car. On the way to the car we found the parking lot was full of tweakers and unsavory characters. A mentally ill homeless woman was out front declaring that she lived there while doing an interesting dance and then her finest rendition of being arrested by invisible police. She then approached our car and tried to talk to us and tell us it was ok and that she was cool. We locked the doors and then drove back to the front office. It took over 30 minutes and calling in a manager for the lady up front to try to give us a refund, after about 20 attempts and the system not working she finally got it to go through, but I still see no credit on my account. I am hopeful it will show up in the next 10 days. While in the front office, there was way more traffic in the lot outside than a legitimate motel should have. To be fair, the staff at the front desk was courteous and tried to be helpful. I have no complaints about them other than they weren't ably to refund us in a reasonable amount of time. They offered to let us try another room, but I declined and pointed out that all the rooms are part of one building and connected. If this room had roaches, they all did. I also pointed out the myriad of other issues, I was done. Had she been able to get the computer to cooperate, we would have had a refund and been out in 5 minutes. She tried, she was the only redeeming quality in this hot mess. It took about 30 minutes to finally get something on paper saying we'd get a refund eventually on the card. Despite the fact that the original charge had already posted to my account and cleared when I checked my online banking, they refused to give me a cash refund on a card purchase. Ok, I kind of get that, but I expect a refund for this hot mess that we spent all of 30 minutes in. We went to the sure stay a few blocks away. For about $25 or $30 more a night we found a clean, quiet, safe place to stay without the ghetto mess. read more

Zero stars for this hotel we stayed there one night because I just had knee surgery and couldn't make the long drive up to humboldt. The photos online looked great. I wish I would have checked yelp first to see the real reviews because I would rather be in pain sitting in a car then stay in this loud motel. They were having a party in the "conference room" or whatever it was called and we called at about 8 asking when it would be over and the guy said about 10. It is now almost midnight and music is still very loud and still going on. The beds are clean but shower is old and dirty with patches everywhere. I'm not picky usually and honestly wouldn't even be writing a review but the music was very inconsiderate and to have it playing at midnight when you have rooms next to it is ridiculous. There were hardly any lights in the room I think there were two ceiling lights, I killed cockroaches as soon as we got there, there was a sign on the door telling you to deadbolt the door and use security latch. There was no security latch. My husband spoke to the front desk and told them our concerns, they told us they'd change our room and if we found more bugs they'd give us a refund. Second room had 3 beds, more ceiling lights, security latch was broken, and more bugs. The floor was dirty and sticky. The walls were dirty. Brown stains on the bathroom walls. Three out of four entrances to the pool would not open. I went to the office to get info on why it wouldn't open and they just gave me more key cards, which still would not open the gates. I thought about jumping the fence. I then walked all the way around the pool and the building and found the only gate that worked. The pool had lots of dead insects floating in the pool. My room had two bars of soap. No shampoo, conditioner or anything else: only one bath towel. It's as if this place is set up to look a lot better than it is. I've been here for half a day and I have been witnessing a lot of shady happenings. A group who seem to be on some sort of methamphetamine, and a car that seemed to be running a hooker out of it. I sat in the car with the doors locked as two men approached my driver side. Thankfully my dog is 100+ pounds of muscle and very protective of me. He started growling and doing his crazy dog bark so they turned and left quickly. Husband came back and I told him to get in the car, we're leaving. 1. Desk clerk insisted I booked using Expedia even as I showed her I used AAA in my confirmation email. 2. She put us in a smoking room that reeked and had cigarette burns on the edge of the tub even though I also showed her my confirmation email showed that I specifically booked a nonsmoking room. She was unapologetic when I asked for a change. 3. WiFi doesn't work. I told her, she didn't believe me. Told me to restart my device. Still didn't work. She still didn't believe me. 4. One reason I chose this room was because of the bathtub. I need a soak after a long drive. There is no drain plug so I can't take a bath. 5. The room phone doesn't work so I had to go down to the desk every time I ran into these issues. She never apologized and just seemed very annoyed that I wanted what I paid for. This was my husband's birthday and we just wanted a simple place to meet midweek because we work hours apart and I had a dr appt in Santa Rosa the following morning. Definitely a trap motel. The People above we're constantly in and out all night. The walls are very thin and you can hear everything going on around you, including the busy parking lot ALL NIGHT! I didn't get the room I paid for. I was supposed to get a king size bed but they didn't have that room. Someone kept calling my room in the middle of the night, I finally unplugged the phone. The TV didn't work, no secure bolt on the door and pube hairs in the tub. I complained at the front desk and asked for some cleaning products to clean the tub and was told he couldn't give me anything. I know what you're thinking, it's a Motel 6! I gave motel 6 "4 stars" because despite the stigma that comes with the name Motel 6, the room was very clean and fair priced. It was in the middle of some minor renovations updating the rooms. The hotel itself was well lit during the night. I would have felt safe walking to my car in the middle of the night. I don't use the pool at motels but it was a pleasant surprise to see that they had a pool lift for individuals with difficulty getting in the pool. Rooms were a lot better than I would expect...nice flatscreen tv, mini fridge and small microwave. - Front desk was okay. They were not very attentive or professional. They might need a little more work on customer service since they were on their phones and did not greet us when walking in. Didn't offer me additional key or inform us about wifi or parking until I asked. - No breakfast as mentioned and hot tubs were out of order. This was the grossest room I have ever been in! I am appalled at the condition of the room. The lights didn't work, there were holes in the wall, exposed wire. The staff are really great. But the county is sending homeless here. And the homeless people are destroying the hotel. There are people who have jobs that live here long term who are generally quiet, but the unemployed people who just hang around doing nothing get into a lot of trouble. It is a pandemic, and they congregate and have parties. The county should send these people to the lower star hotels so they do not disturb paying customers and trash the place. read more

Worst experience at a Motel 6 I've had so far. We used booking.com to reserve our room and when we arrived the woman at the desk couldn't find our reservation. I She basically just said no, you don't have a reservation even though we showed her our confirmation number then she just stood there and looked at us. after finally figuring that out and happy to head to our room for a nice hot shower (we had been travelling around in our van for a while, and really needed a hot shower). at 9:30 I asked for a hair dryer and they didn't have one, so with a head of dreads I wasn't able to wash my hair, which was half of the point of getting a room here. super disappointed, I just wanted a hot shower and not to sleep on a bed of wet hair. read more

I wish that I could honestly give this ZERO stars. I am so ashamed of what I experienced here. I was born and raised in this town, and I cannot believe how filthy and awful this place was. This use to be a great motel when I was younger. I paid $350 for 3 nights and expected to get what I saw in the photos, what I have seen in the past. Just driving up to the office to check-in I was already disgusted. The man at the desk was a jerk from the start. When we got up to our room, I was shocked to open the door and find a room that looked like a hostile or a Mental Hospital. It looked NOTHING like the pictures at all. It did have the king bed but it was supposed to also include a couch with a fold out bed. Not there. Sheets were stained and walls looked as if they had been spot painted instead of cleaned. However, this is mild compared to the rest. The first night didn't seem so bad until about 9:00PM. We stepped outside and swarms of people came out of nowhere. You smell people smoking drugs, you can see drug deals, and they partied all night long. Last night was my breaking point. After watching fireworks, we went back to the room and put my kids to bed. We laid there for 3 hours waiting for things to settle down so we can sleep, never happened. Then after going to the office to see about getting them to quiet their subwoofer so my kids don't wake up, the guys at the desk says "call the cope. What do you want me to do about it?" Are you serious? It's YOUR motel and YOU are the MANAGER. after going back to the room, maybe 5 minutes later all hell broke loose. Cat fights, dog fights and actual dog fights right in front of my window. I felt so unsafe in my own home town. This is so shameful and embarrassing. I will give them credit for taking in the homeless during the pandemic, but that does not excuse the fact that it has turned into a flop house! Get it together Ukiah. I wouldn't recommend this place. The room I stayed in wasn't gross... but it needed a good scrubbing. Worst thing is NO InterNet and an emo night desk clerk who blamed it on net neutrality (!?). Note that they do advertise WiFi. The woman who did the check in was cool, but when asked if they had any ADA rooms she asked "what's that.?". When asked about handicapped rooms she said she didn't have any left. Room is downstairs, but there is a huge lip at the door. It appears there was an actual step in front of the door at one time, but was removed. It looks like there is also a grab bar in the bathtub/shower, but I am afraid to test it. read more

Horrible ! Go to the Motel 6 on S. State street. Reserved online , wasn't the same bed size as we had reserved . The room was much larger than I expected. Not the standard wood floor orange comforter one is used to at a motel 6. The power outlets were missing the safety plates exposed wires. The toilet seat greeted you with a thump every time you used it, it was not the entire toilet but the seat was not tighten and would slide over when you sat down. Tried to tighten the seat but the plastic screws were stripped. The water tank cover was to small and did not fit over the tank when you sat down it would hit loudly against the wall. The towels look great until you realize the stains are folded over so you don't see them until your reaching for it after your shower. The towel stains were old set in stains. Worst part was the manager I asked , from what one of the "regulars" said he is somehow related to the owner. He was speaking to an older guy who drives around in a golf cart (this is guy is friendly greets you with a smile) I don't think he realized anyone could hear him, he was making racist comments referring to a guest he didn't like from his language I am assuming the guest was African American . Unprofessional comments that shouldn't be made in private let alone at a business will never stay in this hotel , did not complain figured if he was related to the owner what was the point. read more

I had a great time because I had good company but the room itself was a let down. After checking in and while walking to my room I was approached by a person soliciting their services. Many doors to rooms were open and appeared to be occupied full time. Loud music, dogs on the second floor, and and "guests" (tenants) yelling. I checked out after two hours and headed to a better hotel. We made reservation well in advance for 3 rooms with 2 queen size beds in each room. We checked in and were given our rooms. When we entered the room, there was 1 queen size bed in each of the rooms. I went back to the office and told them that they gave us the wrong rooms. The girl said there's a fold out couch. I told her we're paying for two queen size beds and I'm not sleeping on a couch. I only sleep on couches if I'm staying at a friend's house for free otherwise I want a bed. She stated that the place was totally full and could not accommodate me. I asked for the owners name and phone number so that I can complain. She said he was on vacation and did not want to receive any calls. Thankfully we stayed for 1 night. The place was full of migrant workers who were partying till the wee hours of the morning. When we were leaving, I asked when Mike (the owner) was due back. She told me for sure he would be back on Tuesday. On Tuesday I call and the front desk told me the owner has not returned from vacation yet. So I called the corporate office. They took my complaint and said I should receive a call from the owner in two days. To date I never received a call back. Mike is a flake and obviously doesn't care about his patrons. I do not recommend staying here. Reminds me of a typical slumlord. read more
