Manager was nice, but at this point damage is done, I'm not doing business with a company who has staff that communicates that way to someone who simply wants information. ‍

I had some water coming through a basement ceiling light fixture. The closest upstairs water…read moresource was a shower about four feet away. However, nothing else was wet or appeared damaged. I contacted Servpro, and Justin was at my place within an hour, on a Wednesday evening. Determining that the water was minimal and restricted to a small area, he cut a hole large enough to determine that the leak was not caused by the shower, or any other expected water source. He was quickly able to rule out every other possibility and we determined that snow had actually blown in through an external furnace air vent, melted, and ran down through the light fixture. As foolish as I felt about having him come out and punch a hole in my ceiling, for no actual reason, I was thankful that their wasn't a bigger issue. Justin was in and out of my house in a hour, after confirming that we had no actual water leaking in the house. The price was very affordable, and the service was spectacular (including cleaning up any mess that was made). I will call them with any "real" problems in the future, and refer them to everyone I know that is in need of assistance.

He arrived with mask and booties and assessed the damage- my bathtub had drained through my ceiling. He asked what my homeowners insurance deductible was and encouraged me not to go through the insurance and said he'd charge me the same amount. He then cut a hole in my ceiling- about 3 ft by 2 ft, treated it for mold, pulled back the carpet, and set up 2 fans and a dehumidifier and left. A few days later, he called and asked if he could get the fans in the next couple hours. I said no, I was about to go hiking. He said okay, another time. Then I didn't hear from him again. 6 days later, I received an invoice by email. I wrote back and asked when he'd be getting the fans. No response. Then I called and it went straight to voicemail, his inbox was full, and it hung up on me. Then I texted him and got no response to that either. I finally sent his company Facebook page a message and he immediately called me and said one of his guys should have gotten the fans already and asked if he could get the fans the next day. He did come get them when he said he would and he put the carpet back. The total cost was $900. He said he would lose potential flood calls if he repaired the hole in the ceiling and gave me a referral for someone else who I can pay separately to fix it. He did apologize for this situation and said he's going to use it as a learning experience so future people can get ahold of him and his stuff isn't left in clients' houses so long.

Just a vague invoice and a threat to increase the amount if we didn't pay immediately. We hired them expecting restoration -- their website says they handle both mitigation and reconstruction. After demolition, they suddenly claimed they don't do reconstruction at all. When we questioned the charges and asked for moisture logs or any kind of justification, they refused and raised the bill. We took them to small claims court. We lost. But that doesn't make what they did right. We ended up paying nearly $2,000 for a torn-up bathroom and had to hire someone else to fix it. Learn from our mistake and hire literally anyone else. Everything in this review reflects our honest opinion and direct experience.

When we hired Puroclean we were 3 months pregnant and my wife literally had our full term child in the time it took to rebuild the basement. It's not that it was the craziest job either. When you hire puroclean you don't get a say in who they sub contract. Every sub contractor we had did very poorly except our carpet guy but we hired him. The moving company, dry wall guy, and plethora of plumbers we had were not good. When we would inquire with our Puroclean pm he would duck our texts and I'd have to pester him for a response. Every single time. The communication was so bad. It took 5 months for them to install a toilet in our downstairs. Granted, our toilet was different, it still wasn't put at the top of their priority list. It doesn't take 10 months to recarpet and repaint /reinstall all drywall. Do not choose Puroclean at all. They don't do the work, they just hire bad subcontractors to do their work. Thankfully in the end everything was replaced but the stress, worry and hassle far outweighed the repair. In the pictures shown, the subcontractor said it would totally be fine. We had to pester him to get them reinstalled in a manner that actually looked good. "There's only a couple fingers space between the panels!" Yea right. Low value company. We had our downstairs furniture baking in the summer son for almost three months, one of the plumbers parked his truck in our driveway for 3 days without coming back and made my wife uncomfortable. When you choose a company to do damage repair, you hope it's quick and fast but the hassle and heartache of this whole ordeal isn't something I'd wish on my worst enemies. I'd wish it on the bad contractors though.

Ecodry tech showed up without a call. We were told it would be free. We were charged 500 for the visit. Ecodry tech referred to the job as the "plumbers name"'s job.... Not our address or even the plumbing company. No costs were given up front. They knew we were desperate. Overall bill was 7,000. Stott plumbers were also wearing Ecodry hats when they arrived to work on our line. In the end of it all the plumbers did not even work inside our house. I could have done the clean up myself. It was a set up from the beginning. Moisture readings were inconsistent. They had a dehumidifier emptying into exposed soil next to the wood they were "drying." Crews were nice but would show up with little warning. This actually prolonged the job because if we were not able to be at the house they would not return until the next day. This also led to more after hours charges. I am not taking them to small claims court because the billing office was nice and negotiated our bill to be significantly lower. Salt Lake Valley residents beware of predatory behavior on the part of Stott plumbing and the Salt Lake branch of Ecodry restoration.
