The one area for improvement was scheduling at the start of the project. After our special-order floor materials arrived, it took several days of back-and-forth to actually get a firm installation date on the calendar, and there was a bit of uncertainty about timing along the way. We finally deiced to install hardwood flooring. Alexander Flooring were the official installer for…read moreLOWE's hardware and had replaced our carpeting. Rich Alexander came out and gave us a ton of information on what to buy and where to get it. Rich gave us so much advice on the types, brands, sellers, required methods. Our project was a bit complicated. We had the room extended and the contractor did a poor job of laying the concrete floor. It wasn't level, it had high and low spots, it was uneven. It required a lot of correction. They poured a liquid concrete floor leveling compound. Once they had the floor corrected, they laid the engineered hardwood. Originally, we considered 3/8th sold hardwood but Rich advised on the engineered floor, the solid hardwood will sometimes take humidity and the planks might change. Once they got started laying the floor they went very fast. Working as a team, one cut the planks, a second spread adhesive and the third trim cut planks and laid the wood. Something I wasn't aware of is dumping rubbish fees. The Puente/Rose Hills landfill is closed. They have to take your old carpet to a transfer station instead of a dump. Dumping fees could be well over $!,000. Alexander might not be the least expensive but consider your floor is going to be there for 30 - 50years. You might as well get it done right.

Luis spent some time and worked the flooring so that my transitions were seamless and attractive. Baseboards and casings were also installed with the same professionalism. Throughout the process Luis kept me informed and was never bothered if I had a question. He and Sylvester have such a calming demeanor that it was a pleasure to have them in my home.
