It is comforting to know that when you first call for an appointment you will be cared for in a manner that tip top. My mom has Alzheimer's disease. It can be very tricky to figure out what is going on especially with her eyes. She can't tell you her vision has changed. Dr. Morris and his crew changed my life through Lasik surgery. He did the surgery several years ago and I couldn't be happier with the level of care I received, and with the follow-up over 20 years later. My first exam was at the Vista office and went very well with the entire exam performed in one visit. I was unable to schedule this years exam there, so I went to the Encinitas office. My co-pay is $30 which was paid at check-in. I then met with an assistant who did the basic exam and then dilated my eyes. I next met with the doctor who continued the exam and afterwards said I would have to come back in a week for another test. I scheduled it, took another day off work and at check in was told my co-pay was $40. I paid it and was taken in for my exam which turned out to be just a "field of vision" exam. At my first exam that test was performed before the dilation, not at a second exam. The assistant also did another pressure test which was unnecessary as I had that done at the previous exam. I never saw the doctor and a week later haven't heard a word about the "exam". At check out I asked about the $40 co-pay which the nice receptionist looked into and told me was incorrect and should have been $30. The 2nd visit was unnecessary as the test should have been done at the 1st visit, so essentially both I and my insurance company were unnecessarily billed for someone's oversight, plus I missed a day of work. I'm a discount glasses kind of woman; meaning that I'd rather not pay regular prices for frames when I can get them cheaper elsewhere. That said, after my first exam at Morris Eye Group, I sat down at the desk where you pick out your new specs, conflicted about 1) the amazing variety of frames available from which to choose and 2) the fact I could probably get these frames cheaper elsewhere. Then the gal at the desk started working with me. Since I can barely see without my glasses so choosing frames is always hard, I just told her, "OK, you tell me. I'm a middle aged gal but I don't want to look frumpy. Pick me something flattering, whatever you think makes me look better." She looked at my face, got up and went to the frame racks. A few minutes later she came back with several frames and had me try them on. She picked one, saying, "This is the pair for you! The color, the shape... they really work with your face!" So I bought them. When they came in, I felt uncomfortable, because they were big, which is the fashion now, rather than narrow, and something I never would've chosen myself. But at work, I got lots of compliments, all along the lines of, "Wow! I love your glasses!" When I went out, I got asked where I bought my frames, because total strangers wanted a pair just like them. Older folk, millenials, and middle-aged peeps just like me told me they loved my glasses. I get positive comments about the color, the shape, how they make my eyes look great, etc. It's been a year now since I got them and I still get compliments regularly. I would occasionally get compliments on my various former frames, usually from family members, but never on this scale, and never from total strangers. I would say that the frame-choosing staff at Morris Eye Center really knows their stuff, and if I have to get another pair (because I love to reuse frames and won't need a new pair for several years) I will definitely go back! read more

Had a good experience with my eye exam which was very thorough. Dr. Kasai is very professional and caring. She provided options for my eye care and made good recommendations. Staff were positive and helpful. My only criticism would be that I received too many reminder notices about my appointment. Excellent Opticians! I have been going to Morris Eye Group for years. My Optometrist Ashley Butler has a lovely chair side manner and is well informed on the latest eye issues. My most recent check in technician was wonderful and personable as was the tech who checked out the inside of my eyes. The front desk ladies are sweet and patient and there is hardly any wait time. There are a wide variety of frames to try on as well as a friendly, knowledgeable sales crew who help with insurance pricing and even clean your glasses and nose pads if you ask nicely! Don't go here. Long time customer that has finally SEEN THE LIGHT. The last two years have been awful. Ordered glasses July 2. Finally received them two weeks ago. Morris says lab made mistakes, then admits someone in the Morris office entered the doctor's prescription incorrectly. They tried to fix it once, twice, and again only to tell me the lab is wrong, no this happened and they'll put a rush on the order. Don't believe them.They even blamed the new computer program that they just switched over to. If you go there, keep a diary of who you talked to, time and dates. Keeps accurate records, it will help you if it goes to arbitration. read more

I noticed that my vision was not good as a few years ago so I stopped by for a visit. They quickly made a new subscription that makes my vision 20/20 again. In addition, since I visit a retina specialist, they let me skip some of the tests since they were able to request patient records for my other doctor. I have used them a few times in the past and the Crizal Avance coatings they use on the lenses are much better than other places. I would use them again. read more

This is the worst eye doctor I've ever been too. Total scam artist. On the day of my appointment the receptionist claimed she forgot to call my insurance until the day before which was a holiday so they weren't open and she didn't know what the bill would be. I knew I had a $30 copay for office visits so I signed the forms. When I left, the doctor charged me $60 for my prescription! Not for glasses, just for the piece of paper. Then I got billed $126! For an eye appointment. they did $200 worth of bonus "photos" that were only half covered by my insurance. I didn't authorize those procedures and I wouldn't have if they told me they cost $100! So now I've paid $186 for a piece of paper and I HAD INSURANCE. I would NEVER go back and I warm you all to avoid them. Their bill for the uninsured was $560! AND I had to wait an hour for my appointment and they sucked at communication and warmth the entire visit. UPDATE: it's illegal per the FTC to charge for prescriptions. They tried to backpedal on the phone and tell me the charge was for the test but in the office they verbatim said it was for the prescription. I'm filing a complaint with the FTC and I strongly urge you to avoid them. UPDATE 2: Dr. Morris contacted me about this directly finally and explained everything. Basically it comes down to the staff not being trained. They were supposed to tell me of the extra photo charges up front, and they explained the exam fee incorrectly as a prescription fee. It was intentionally illegal practices by the business but poor service by employees who didn't follow policy. He said he'll coach them and he's removed the extra charges from my bill. read more

I had my annual eye exam yesterday and I was really impressed with how smooth my eye exam was. By the time I saw the Doctor, most of the eye exam was completed. So that when I did see the doctor, all he had to do was examined my eyes and review the rest of the examination, and off I went with my new prescription in hand! Can't wait until next year! I ended up here when I had to leave a small Optometrist practice due to an insurance change. My first experience at Morris Eye Group felt like I was a product being manufactured in a factory - I must have seen 4 people before even seeing the doctor. It felt like no one person would be entirely responsible for my eye health and took a few hours to get through all the stations with long waits in the lobby in-between. When my insurance changed again I should have gone back to the small practice but since I already had a check up booked, I took the lazy route and I went back and felt the same as the first time. However this time I liked the doctor I saw a little better. I decided to take my daughter to see that doctor (who just one week later, had no recollection of seeing me - probably because of the high volume of patients they see daily).... no personal touch. When my daughter had contacts on order, they required a training... which I think is a good idea. However they only offer 2 structured times both of which are during school hours. The day of the training we ran late with signing her out of school so I called to let them know. I ended up on hold for 6 minutes - when someone finally answered we were already in the parking lot and I told them we were on our way up, which she said "ok". When we check in - now 10 minutes past appointment - the woman checking us in said she had to check if we could have the training. I told her I called and spoke with someone. She came back and proceeded to tell me it was too late for the training. I told her I wore contacts most my life so I would train my daughter but they would not let me take the contacts without the training. At this point I was absolutely furious and not a nice customer (which I regret) but the thought of having to postpone getting the contacts and taking my daughter out of school again when we were 10 minutes late had me over the edge. Due to my frustration they took us and 20 minutes later we were out the door. We have decided to leave the practice. I would not recommend this place - impersonal, like a factory. read more

I had went to another optometrist who diagnosed my one eye pressure at 75. I went to see my primary care Dr. Brunst who immediately called Morris Eye Group and made an appointment for me the next day. Obviously I was very nervous because at 75 pressure it is very serious. Morris Eye group were so courteous., kind and professional. I was tested and was assured I was fine. I will always go to Morris Eye from now on. Special kudos to Dr. Foster. I actually like the office but I am giving them this review because you literally can not get them on the phone. I lost my glasses and need my prescription and no matter what I do I can not get someone on the line or have someone return a call. They preformed the tests needed to determine why I have flashes and floaters in my vision, which gave me ease of mind while waiting for my injury to heal. Thank you! Everyone was very nice, but... ...I did have one problem. When I called for an appointment, they didn't suggest that I have someone to drive me home. After seeing two assistants and lastly the doctor, no one told me that I was going to be dilated and no one had told me that they did dilate my eyes. When I finished and was putting my contacts back in, I noticed that I couldn't see normally. I asked a receptionist if I had been dilated and she said that "if you were, they would have told you." Still not seeing clearly, I asked an assistant if I could have some re-wetting drops, because my vision was different. He looked at my eyes and said that they're dilated. I then asked how long until it wears off and he did 4-6 hours. I didn't have anyone to drive me home, so I wore 2 pairs of sunglasses and made it home. I can't say that I could see correctly, so this wasn't an ideal situation. read more

I've been getting my eye exams here for several years and I'm considering looking elsewhere. The staff and the doctor are generally very courteous and professional and their work is quite good. What is my problem with this place you may ask? The exorbitant charges for each procedure that seem pretty standard and the fact that they are not forthcoming about how much your yearly eye exam is really going to cost you. I go here once a year and I shouldn't have to hand over my credit card more than once in a visit to cover charges that they claim my insurance doesn't adjust. I'm here for a basic eye exam, not Lasik surgery! So, in conclusion, if you like to be surprised at having to pay multiple times in a visit then this place is for you! read more

This is my second time here and both times the front desk and billing screwed up due to lack of communication and Assumed lack of training and it can't be blamed on covid as this happened once before covid. This was my attempt to overlook the short comings and give them another shot. They definitely don't have a philosophy of the customer is always right. I liked it that I ventured to each station to have each portion of my eye exam completed, culminating with the doctor's review of all the test results and confirming my prescription. I have been going here for three years simply because I'm too lazy to find another place and I don't have any eye issues so I just do the basic exam every year. Every time I go for my annual appointment I feel like a herd of cattle. Exams are brief and they speed through the details. The only time they actually take the time to explain things is when they are trying to sell you additional services. Once you agree to the up-sale its back to moving you along the assembly line. Good luck having someone explain the results of the test performed with something more than "everything is fine". The icing on the cake, last year I overpaid. Instead of informing me after that visit I had a credit on my account, they let it sit there until this year's visit and I was only told when I came in. Omg! They are wonderful. I moved here a year and a half ago and last year I went to the big building by the freeway. Had to go back several times with long waits each time. What a difference at Morris Eye Group in Vista. Very minimal wait times for both the doctor and the optician.. I have some unusual Eye conditions and they inspected my eyes very thoroughly and were able to use machines to do a lot of the tests to make sure there's no human error. And my glasses were even cheaper than they were last year at the other place. read more

I've had a wonderful experience with Morris Eye Group! I was referred by my doctor because I was seeing "floaters" and experiencing blurry and loss of vision. Pretty serious actually. The team at MEG thoroughly walked me through an unfamiliar process and made sure everything I was experiencing was normal based on my screen time at work and stressing my eyes out. Everyone clearly explained what and why each test was being done so I understood what was going on. In the end all I really needed were some dry eyes drops. Nobody tells you when you stare at a computer screen that your eyes dry out! Now I know, and I'll take better care of my eyes! read more
