This review is for MINI MALL STORAGE . Shows with the same address. Needed a stroage place temporarily for just one month. Found this place and gave it a try . At no time was I loud rude or confrontational. I remained calm and polite throughout the encounter. I Was informed that my card will not renew until the end of the month and I would have to call to continue for rental for the next month. I formed them I only needed for 1 month only at the time of sign up . Come to find out my card was renewed and charged for the next month. I stopped by and the gentlemen was pretty friendly but the girl, wich I assume was a supervisor, said there billing cycle was 28 days, she was pretty confrontational and was dishonest in her dealings . I was not told that at the time of sign up , I was told it was the end of the month wich any person would think 30th or 31st unless specified and made clear to customer end of month was a different day they go by . All the girl kept saying was there was nothing she can ( more like willing ) to do . I also did not receive a copy of the agreement at time of sign-up either paper copy or emailed wich in my part I should have asked for but typically any good business would give that to you without asking for it . The girl did not attempt to explain the charges or even detail the charges for me . Would not recommend this place. I felt this place is pretty deceptive and confrontational when inquiring about their policy . read more

Great location but full of SAD experiences. Every reason I decided to use this place has led to disappointments..... - Was told they can't honor the "1st month free" stated on the website after Harvey because it was "canceled" when I signed up. -The price is significantly higher than what they advertise online. -They require you to buy Insurance - Was lied to about the availability of utility carts at every entrance -I have an issue paying for a "temperature controlled" unit that's 89* -Did not give proper information related to using the moving truck and waisted 1/2 day of my and my crews time! -This business just passes their responsibilities and burdens over to the customer every chance they get. (Example- when their carts that allow the facility to function disappeared they suggested I purchase one for $1000) read more

We used this storage facility when it was Katy Area Storage and where very pleased with KAS. We first got our unit after our home in Simonton flooded during the Memorial Day 2016 floods. KAS was very gracious, offering half off the firsts month rent and 15% off each additional month because of our circumstances. Our bill was about $114 a month after discounts. We were able to empty our storage and move our stuff back home around Jan/Feb 2017. Unfortunately, we flooded again with Hurricane Harvey and unfortunate Katy Area Storage was bought out by Morning Star Storage. The rate for the same unit went from $114 a month to $299 PER MONTH! And the offer NO DISCOUNTS or SYMPATHY! Even the other chain storage units offer a move in special!! I'm appalled but over a barrel.... there were no available storage units at the time and now that we are in there it will be difficult to get the time, energy or help to move to a different facility. The only plus is the sweet young man who worked there before is still there. He has always been so kind, patient and understanding. I do hope he is appreciated for the excellent costumer service he provides. read more

So I have had storage rooms (plural) here for as long as they have been open originally as Katy Area Storage. It was a good business arrangement as long it was owned by Katy Area Storage. But......now that MorningStar has taken over it is the worst experience EVER! Customer Service, let me know when it starts because I haven't experienced any but horrible! Van, the store manager, is completely lost when trying to complete a contract or give information regarding the units. The computer is a real challenge for her as well. Renting a storage unit is hours long. Oh and don't ask to use the "free" moving truck, I was told it is her "personal means of transportation" and not for rent by a "new" employee. Seriously.... And, don't pay any attention to your contracted rental price, they raise the rates whenever they want and don't bother telling you. No email, no letter, no voicemail, no comment when you go in to pay the bill....NO NOTIFICATION. When you inquire they tell you it all happened when they took over months ago....hmmmm funny it wasn't changed months ago when they took over, just happened last month. Insurance, seriously should be a personal choice, my contents isn't their loss if it floods or burns down! Must be some sort of great deal they get for "requiring" tenants to purchase from the ONLY option they have.... oh and, was told they now require it because of Harvey so asked if it covers flooding, answer: NO it doesn't cover flooding.... but Harvey is the reason, OMG! lol I pay for several climate controlled units, PLEASE someone let me know when they turn the air conditioning on to a temperture that constitutes climate controlled! 88 degrees isn't climate controlled friendly! If this location wasn't the most convenient to my business I would be GONE! Terrible! Don't Do IT! read more

Ms Van was friendly and super helpful. We came in a little before closing and she walked us around to see a few different sized units so that we could better our selection. Paperwork was taken care of in just a few minutes and we left with gate codes, keys and a free rental truck to move our belongings in. Great service and clean units, I highly recommend this location. read more

Awesome storage manager by the name of Richelle Loewenstein... However I had problems accessing my unit because there were always people working out of their storage units and blocking the doors to other units including mine. The policy is 24 hour access, yet I still had problems accessing my unit due to failed execution of the policy by upper management. Not to mention people there have a hard time minding there business. read more

We started storing our belongings there when Katy Area Storage owned. Great people and place. We had two 10x20 storage units paid a total of $250.00 Once Morning Star purchased the place went to hell, Not only did it double but were required to purchase a renters insurance policy over our current home owners policy. The real joke came this morning when we were finally able to move into our home. The movers showed up as planned all belongings loaded and ready for transport but we were locked in for the one day rent of $11.00 ( Note: today is the 1st of the month and its 10am.) Never said we were not going to continue to rent the units but was forced to pay a fee to leave. Needless to say our belongings will never return to this facility. Good riddance. Chip Hall read more

Great location and the staff is very nice. Units are well kept with bug extermination and clean. Carts may not be at every unit at every door, but you can usually find one in the first or second building. Unfortunately the rates increase on a regular basis and when you are operating a non profit renting 6 units to store stuff while rebuilding from Harvey it makes it challenging to pay the bill. The moving truck....the 8 or 9am to 5pm restriction with no overnight use makes it useless for a theatre company. Our hours for moving sets is never within those hours so sadly the moving truck sits unused when we could be using it weekly. read more

Would give 0 stars if possible. I have been at this location since it opened close to 3 years ago and was Katy Area Storage. I had 0 problems, the staff was courteous and management knew me by name. Ever since Morningstar bought it out a few months ago I have had nothing but problem after problem. Started out by them calling me telling me i was passed due on rent and that I owed additional fees. ( CC on file ) I went in and fixed it and we were square. Now , they are stating that the rent I payed for August got rejected ( I have already paid rent for September October and November ) and are stating that I am now 3 months behind on my payment ( which makes no sense being that o am paid up through November? ) management unwilling to make the bill right and work with me. Management doesn't have a clue how to do her job. I am now searching for alternative storage solutions ( I am in here every week to pick up work supplies ) and will happily pay any price to leave this location. DO NOT GET A STORAGE UNIT HERE !!! read more
