The claim we tried to file after our unit was infested with rats was not worth it. You apparently have to provide receipts for every item, most of the things we had were small appliances, text books, pictures of our family and things that no person without some kid of OCD would have kept their receipts for (not to mention the gifts that don't come with receipts). The manager couldn't care less and was even surprised when I said our unit was rat infested. She did however ask if I wanted to continue renting, but switch units (without assuring the others don't have rats).

The monthly charges fluctuate every month and not consistent. There are problems with rats and vermins all over the property. Customer service is a joke, I've contacted them every week hoping to get a response from the manager or someone higher up. They will not give you any information except that someone will call you back and they never do. It seems very shady that you can't speak to a district manager about the ongoing problems. There are SO many other rental units. I was willing to pay anything to get my stuff out of there and couldn't be happier. Stop giving them your money

Customer Beware! We rented two units at this facility and what a mistake that was . One of the…read moreunits was climate controlled for the items that we did not want exposed to heat and humidity and the other was not. Upon returning to remove our items we noticed the climate controlled unit was noticeably warm . Upon inquiry, we learned that they kept the climate controlled units at 80 degrees which is extremely hot especially in the Jacksonville sweltering heat. We also found black mold spots all over our white leather chairs that had been stored in the climate controlled unit. The chairs also showed signs of wrinkling from being moist or damp. Upon entering the 2nd unit that was was not climate controlled, we found rodent droppings , and evidence of water stains on our plastic storage bins . Upon inspection of our other furniture, we found that our headboard had water damage due to a water leak in the unit and some of our items had been chewed on by rodents. We were instructed to file a claim, as we did pay extra for the insurance that they recommended. After initiating the claim, we were advised by the insurance company that they don't cover damage due to water leaks/flooding or mold or mildew . Neither do they address rodents. So , neither claim was covered. We reached out to Secure Self Storage to give them an opportunity to make the situation whole. Hoping that after renting two units there for eight months, they would take some responsibility. They advised that they are not liable for damage that occurs at THEIR facility. Well who exactly is liable if the insurance that they recommended isn't and neither are they. If you are looking for a place to store your belongings, this is definitely not the place unless you like finding rat droppings on your belongings , like having your furniture chewed up by rats , or enjoy giving your money to a company that clearly doesn't care about their customers! Amazing service! I went up to this U-Haul location to get some boxes. As I was making my way to the…read moreoffice, a gentleman, who was checking in a truck, greeted me and told me he would be with me in just a moment but that I could head on in to the office. He came in a moment later and got the boxes I was wanting off from the shelves. Another gentleman came in behind him and asked which car was mine and carried my boxes to the car for me while I checked out. He didn't have to but he did :) The process was quick, I didn't have to wait, the men were very kind and professional and they carried the boxes to the car for me. Very kind people! I will definitely come to them for future storage needs and highly recommend!
