Had a very bad experience at Morgan Shoes tonight. Very snooty, condescending clerk who, apparently, didn't want to sell me the $300 boots I was looking at. I've been here several times for shoes and gifts when I am in town, visiting family. Service isn't great and I have witnessed what I deemed racist microaggressions. I waited in line to pay and the cashiers passed over me to help two people behind me, gesturing to them to pass and just ignored me. One cashier left the register when I was supposed to be next to pay and just ignored me. I left my intended purchase out of disgust and walked out. A really good shoe store! Yes, you do have to wait sometimes to be helped (take a number if it's busy!), but everyone I've ever talked to in there is very helpful and very knowledgeable. Yes, many of their shoes (and socks) are on the pricey side, but everything is very good quality. I shop here for every day shoes, not for the once a year shoes. Definitely ask about the punch card. I'll admit I'm kinda surprised to read some of the negative reviews. Never had anything but good service here. read more

I was looking for a cross training shoe and asked where New Balance had moved. The sales guy said he could help me because he worked both stores. He showed me a running shoe for $170. When I questioned him about the shoe and price, he very sarcastically said "have you SHOPPED here before." I left, found the New Balance store, was helped by Walt who sold me just what I wanted. The guy in Morgan's was more interested in making a sale than giving me what I needed...I will avoid him in the future because I HAVE shopped at Morgan's all my life. He was really a jerk. read more

Morgan's caters very well to customers with hard-to-fit feet or orthopedic problems. While it can be hard to attract someone's attention for help during busy times, the salespeople are very knowledgable and attentive once they get to you. In particular, they're good at offering advice on what brands or styles work best for certain types of feet. The salespeople are not pushy--I have not felt bad about walking out after trying on several pairs of shoes like I have at some other stores. The only downside is that most of the brands they carry are very expensive. I usually find it's worth it, though, if you're looking for a really good pair of shoes--they carry brands that are expensive because of their quality and comfort, and every pair I've bought has lasted a long time. read more

I shopped here in 2017 and had a great experience. The clerk was super helpful, even though the store was busy. I went back this week to purchase some nursing shoes, and had a totally different experience. Perhaps it was because my husband was not wearing a mask due to asthma issues (I was obedient and was fully masked up)....but the customer service was cold, scanty and even rude. My husband said he was getting death stares from the lady behind the counter. Perhaps they have not actually read the governors order? Well I work in the service industry and needed a pair of shoes that fit dress code as well and support my feet the way I need. I walked into Morgan's and took a quick glance around and within two minutes a nice woman named Kim asked me if I need help and the rest was easy. She showed me a few different options for my situation and got to try out a few pair of shoes until I found the pair I am currently wearing. Kim was polite and attentive to my needs, an all around professional. Yes the price is steep but my shoes feel just as good as they did when I bought them a month ago so IMO you get what you pay for. I have heard about Morgan's Shoes for some time. They are known for their top quality shoes and service. Being familiar with the brands I knew that the prices would match the quality. So no surprises. I needed a new pair of running shoes and after frustrating experiences I thought I would go to Morgan's. Just after walking in I saw that they had a limited selection of running shoes. But I thought I would give it a try, since I didn't have anything to lose. After discussing my needs & concerns, measuring my feet, the salesman brought out several pairs to try and they were in different sizes. I should say that I have hard to fit feet. He patiently waited while I tried out every pair and gave each pair a bit of a spin. We discussed the different characteristics of each shoe, how it effected my feet, running style, orthotics, etc. He was very helpful. Best service I have received in a long time. No pressure to buy. Also, the sales staff aren't trying to help several people at once. They give you their full attention. Are they busy? Yes & that tells me that this is a good business. Plenty of staff and a terrific selection for men, women & children. So glad I finally went to Morgan's Shoes. read more

Beautiful shoes but very unprofessional customer service. I bought a pair of $250 boots on back order 3 weeks ago and was told they would arrive within a week to store and after 3 weeks they were a no show. I phoned the shoe manufacturer and they said those particular boots were on backorder for 8 weeks. I went into store today and spoke to owner about my boot order and the poor customer service he went in back and found a box with a completely different pair of boots ready to ship out to me, even though I had specifically asked for the boots to be shipped to the store, they seem to care more about the sale, not once did he apologize, I think it may be a case of wanting to float a balance out there? It left a bad taste in my mouth that they would sell me something that was obviously not available. Are they clueless or do they do it on purpose, in either case it's annoying. read more

Great shoes but horrendous customer service. I received shoes from here as a present and went in to exchange them for store credit or a different pair; I was ignored for 20 minutes while multiple employees wandered around with no customers. Finally an older gentleman reluctantly said he could help me, was clearly unhappy about a customer daring to return anything, and made no effort to be friendly. I noticed their demeanor was very different with customers that weren't returning something. Unfortunately, working in retail means you may have to process returns from time to time; if you need to return or exchange anything here, be aware you may not be treated kindly. read more

Is it possible to give a rating of NO stars? Morgan's has a serious problem with unpleasant, sometimes incompetent staff. The store is reasonably well-stocked, but prices are the highest in Madison--higher than other stores which stock the same shoes. Some of the salespeople claim to be "pedorthists," but show reluctance to actually use these skills to help customers. Shopping there is an unhappy experience. I prefer other shoe stores with cheerful, competent staffs who actually appreciate your business. read more

I genuinely hate this store. Stopped in one day on a friend's recommendation. (side note: remember to choke the life out of said friend). After wandering around aimlessly in this cramped and cluttered store, I was able to locate ONE shoe in my size. No, not one pair of shoes...just ONE shoe...and I didn't like it that much. It was an odd brownish red color but it was all they had. I couldn't find the other matching ugly shoe, so I looked for the even more elusive salesperson. After noticing a gentlemen helping some overweight blue haired lady, I made my way over to see if he could possibly be of any help. Turns out, she was slowly working her way through a mountainous pile of shoes and clearly demanded more attention then us low-life, one shoe, morons. After waiting several minutes, I decided my end time was nearing, and made ever so certain when this diabetic octogenarian apparently found her perfect match and exclaimed, "This will work nicely with my square toe!" I have purchased shoes at this store a few times, and have always been super happy, with the service and quality of shoes. I had purchased Dansko shoes from Morgans about a year ago, and had a problem with the sole of one of them, and they ended up calling trying to find a sole replacement and couldn't find one so they just gave me brand new shoes!!! It was so, great because i really love my Dansko's as i work for more than 8 hours a day on my feet. I love this store!! I will always, always recommened Morgan's Shoes to anyone!! Although Morgan's carries some good shoes, unfortunately, I cannot recommend the place. In particular, anyone with foot problems should not shop there. A "pedorthist" (note the pseudo-medical name) does not have the specialized training to outfit problem feet with the proper shoe and orthotic. There are some horror stories I've heard from friends who were sold very expensive shoes at Morgan's which did not, and could not ever, fit. The prices are also out of line in a city which boasts several shoe stores with fine brands. Morgan's is no longer "special" and seriously needs to rethink how their store can thrive in a competitive market. read more

I am so frustrated. This store has some really nice staff but others who are absolutely lousy on customer service. Last time we shopped there the sales woman told my son who has a wide foot that he was "just going to have to get used to it" when she put him in a narrow shoe. Then she told my daughter that "she really did not like those shoes anyways" when the pair she brought out were too small, instead of going back to get a larger size. Just now I was told by a sales associate when coming in to pick up a special order that I'd have to take a number and wait 30 minutes for all the kids there (it was packed) to be fitted before he would ring up the shoes I have been waiting one week for. This is for a pair that I just got a call to come in and pick up. I wish there was another kids shoe store in Madison. read more

Went to Morgan's today to buy two new pairs of shoes at their "new" store. Was never greeted by one of the three salesmen working although I passed by several. I finally asked how many clerks were working and was told "Only three." The clerk never mentioned he would be right with me and took his sweet time with a lady that was already done. There was no effort at any time to help me. I decided Zappos is a better choice for my business. At their prices $150-$300+ dollars for a pair of shoes, I guess they are not in a hurry for any business. Shameful. read more

My sister and I always buy shoes from Morgan's. She was recently in there...said I should check out a FINN shoe because they were so comfortable. She knows me, and she knows her shoes!! I am an amputee and have trouble finding a comfortable shoe. Not this shopping trip! I purchased the first pair of shoes I tried on from Morgan's today. They care. I mean they REALLY care. The service I received from Kelly and Jeff was unbelievable...and Jeff helped with service and suggestions for the future The shoes are not inexpensive, but I know I will wear this one shoe forever. I finally found a shoe that felt so good the moment I put it on that I honestly cried. Who cries over a shoe?? I do...it is an extension of my body. Terrible experience at Hillsdale. I have bought 2 pair of shoes there. The first time I went, was terrible. The lady just gave me a pair of shoes telling me they'll work for me. I went back with my husband to exchange them, and they gave me really good service. Finding my shoe size and willing to make business with us. Next time I went again with my husband and service was excellent! This time, I went happily to find new pair of sandals, staff were socializing among themselves, no one even asked if I was being helped. Some of them walked by me looking at me like, I couldn't afford the sandals I was looking at. They had like 3 clients and they were very nice with them. When I then, decided to caught the attention of one staff, she was very dry and short, her attitude was terrible when I asked her please to find me my size. After trying two pairs of sandals, she told me "you have to come back, because, we don't have anything you want" she gave a piece of paper with dates to go back. I was really needing a pair of sandals and I was willing to spend my $ there, but they made me feel bad. I'm a Latina woman and all her client in that moment were caucasian ( nothing against) which make me wonder, "again? Maybe if my caucasian husband would've being with me?, Really?" I'll never go back, did not like the feeling they make me feel. And I'm a tough feeling one!!! So all of you that can go there and have a good experience, I'm happy for you!!! Terrible experience. Am 9 months pregnant. Took my 1 year old to get new shoes. Staff working very hard to ignore us. After waiting in store a while, waited in checkout line to get some help. After 10 min and was finally our turn, clerk just walked away from desk, never even made eye contact with me. Then I saw that you had to take a number to get helped- number machine is in back of store, so you don't see it when you come in. Took a number and waited some more. After 40 minutes in the store with a 16 month old who was getting fussy, we finally gave up and left- I was in tears. We were completely ignored the entire time. I was very disappointed, having made a special trip and being very motivated to get a pair of shoes. Instead I just wasted an hour of precious time and felt insulted.
