Great visit to Moretti's for some Italian in Montreal. The restaurant felt upscale, with great amenities like a nice bar and TV's showing the hockey playoffs. The food was solid. We ordered a few appetizers and I ordered the chicken parm. Here's the breakdown: Arancini (10/10) - these little appetizers were great! Very well made and was just the right texture and consistency. Calamari (8/10) - good appetizer. The calamari was cooked just right with the right crisp and ability to bite into and through it. Not too chewy and it was of good quality. Chicken Parmesan - (8/10) - same here for this entree. The chicken was cooked just perfect with a good crispy outer layer covering the chicken. The pasta seemed like it was a cheese filled pasta, and I would have personally preferred a spaghetti with my chicken Parmesan. We had a large party of 20 people and they accommodated us and provided great service throughout the evening. Italian is not the cuisine of my choice but my husband loves it. I give him major props for choosing Moretti in Montreal. We had a nice long walk to dinner on a brisk and windy night and were fortunate to score a table without a reservation. Those that came after us weren't so lucky. We each had a cocktail to start and I wanted something sweet and tangy and ordered an amaretto sour which hit the spot. We then shared a Caesar salad, the meatballs, the carbonara, and the tiramisu. The Caesar was well dressed but crisp and delicious. It was nice and salty from the anchovies and Parmesan with crunchy croutons for added texture. The meatballs served with marinara were AMAZING. I'm not a huge meat eater but hello, these were delicious, tender, and the marinara was killer. The carbonara was great, had chewy bucatini to capture the sauce, was creamy, had crisp bits of salty guanciale, and lots of cracked black pepper. The tiramisu was the hubby's decision so while I partook in a bite, I was so full. However, the coffee soak mixed with the amaretto and mascarpone cream was superb. Moretti is an Italian restaurant in the heart of Montreal. The service was great and she was able to provide serve in French or English. I ordered the tagliatelle but they ran out of that pasta so they switched the noodle to a spaghetti. The waitress advised all their noodles are made from scratch in house and oh my was it delicious! I probably could have had a second bowl. I also had a glass of their house rose which was a great compliment to the food. The people I went with got salads as appetizers which were actually massive and the salmon entree for main. Everything was great but I took one star as I thought the prices were a little high for the portion size of the pasta.Overall I would recommend for a date night or a family outing if budget is not a concern. read more

I had a fabulous birthday dinner here with friends. We stupidly showed up with 7 people without a reservation on a Saturday night at the other location downtown and they managed to slide us in at this spot. We had oysters, seafood fritto misto, and salmon tartare to start, followed by their house made pasta. And oh, the pasta. Absolutely delicious. The service was excellent, wine, cocktails, and beautiful limoncello as well. I cannot attest to the pizzas but I saw them flying out of the kitchen and they looked amazing. My only complaint is that the restaurant was pretty loud but it was a Saturday night and tapered off eventually. Next time I'm in Montréal I will definitely return. read more

So I'm a friends trip our group sort of stumbled across this place. Unice ( at our hotel which will be another review). Informed us about this place only located a few blocks from the hotel. Atmosphere was very relaxed and chilled...you can either make this a dressy event or a casual event. The staff was on top of empty plates and glasses. Great music choice if you want to find your humming to some good music during lunch. All of the cocktails were nice and strong (felt like home) drinks. On the the highlight of the restaurant ...THE FOOD!!! Service was quick and when you got the food it was worth ANY small wait that you had. This is a busy, cool Italian restaurant/bar near PVM in Montreal. Very popular spot during weekdays/early evening for the business crowd especially. One of their 5 locations. Food was good overall - (4/5): - Burrata appetizer was one of the best i've ever had! Melt in your mouth and great flavour - (5/5) - Kale Caesar Salad was good - nice balance of flavour and fresh - (4/5) - Salmon Tartare was fresh but personally I didn't like the way it was prepared. The tartare was like a paste vs chunks/pieces - (3.5/5) Nice presentation for all dishes. Service was ok - they were very busy so took a little bit to get seated and for ordering/bill. Friendly attractive servers though. (3.5/5) Atmosphere was good - Cool, nicely decorated indoor, and outdoor patio tables too. Lobster spaghetti, two words one love story :) I work nearby and came one Thursday night without reservation, got seated right away. I had googled lobster pasta all day and found this place among others. This the first one I decided to visit. There are a few places in MTL that have lobster pasta, most famous is Joe Beef. I have had the Joe beef version, and though I don't remember it much, I do remember that it was overpriced and overrated. I've been in search of a good lobster pasta for a long time, and this one is a strong contender. Priced at 42$, I don't consider it too expensive, but it is a splurge. I also ordered a glass of red wine. The place is a little on the loud side... and the place is bustling and lively. Service is efficient and polite. The wait for the food is short. The portion is good considering the price. It is filling. I posted the picture of my lobster spaghetti, it looks very pretty. It is stacked high in the picture, but if you spread it out it fills the whole plate. The sauce is not too rich but creamy enough, it is reddish and lobster bisque based. It is salted just right, you can taste the salt in every bite, this is the way I like it. I find when creamy sauces are too bland the richness can become too much after a few bites. I must insist that you try this dish with wine, the tartness of the wine balances very well with the salty/creaminess of the pasta. The pasta is about al dente, no complaints on this issue. The lobster, is fresh and cooked just right. Overall, it is a solid pasta dish, my favorite lobster pasta of the moment. However my search has only begun and it's a long list. The bill came out to 75$ with taxes and tips included. I will definitely go back, but only when budget allows. I left happy :) read more

Nicely situated in downtown Montréal however more on the pricey end (for kind of no reasons?) Plates weren't big but pizzas were decent sized. It was good but not THAT good. I'd go back to Fiorellino or Il Focolaio for good and fair priced pizzas instead. Service wise I'm note sure why people complained on it as we were well received on a Friday evening which tend to be busier than a regular week day and we were in and out within an hour. read more

Unbelievable! For a restaurant with 4 reviews they should be wanting people to dine and leave reviews. They won't like this one. My wife and I had dinner at another restaurant and had specifically planned to come to Moretti for dessert. We walk up and some guy, (this is 10 feet outside the door on the sidewalk) who is not dressed in any way that identifies him as part of the restaurant steps right in front of me to block me from going in the door and asks if he can help me. First, don't step in front of people like that. We signified we want to come in and he asks us how many as though that isn't obvious that it is just two of us. We tell him we would just like to come in for dessert and coffee and he say no, full meal only and just turns his back and walks away. I have found the people of Montreal to be extraordinarily welcoming and polite in spite of what I have heard about visiting Americans. I don't know if that was the issue or something else, but I cannot even comprehend such behavior. This place was far from full and the rudeness of this person whether owner or manager or just a host is inexcusable. If you want to build your business you need to get customers and deliver great food and great service. If you want to go out of business, just keep doing what you are doing. read more

Went to Moretti Griffintown. Trendy. Beautiful resto. Industrial chic with bars brick walls, cement beams and exposed ceiling pipes. DJ pumping sexy bears. Service was excellent. We were a group so i tried many things. Dishes that i liked most were the Griffintown Pizza, Lasagna, Caesar Salad, Calamari and Tiramisu. Place is not cheap. Worked out to $100 per person including 1 drink, tax and tip. Be careful, drink average $20. Valet $30. Ouch! There are 2 paid lot within a block for 1/2 that. We had a good time. I'd go back but I'd definitely be more conscious of spending less. read more

I wish I could give this place a higher ranking, but the management and service were ABYSMAL. the manager was maybe the rudest person we have encountered in a service setting. He literally scoffed at the fact that we were holding coffee cups from outside when we entered for our lunch. And he demanded we throw away our coffee so that we could order from his '$15,000 machine'. It was shocking as the place is quite a casual bistro. He rolled his eyes as we asked to finish our coffee and snatched our cups from our hands. Unbelievable. We thought maybe that meant we would be attended to quickly by the wait staff. Wrong. They ignored us for nearly 25min. I hate to say, but maybe because we weren't white? I can't explain it. I made contact with no less than four employees, including the manager himself. All assured me someone would take out order soon. We hadn't even ordered drinks yet. But table after table around us got their orders in and served , even when they sat down after us. Finally got our orders after I got out of my chair, and the manager acted like I was being unreasonable even asking! He then said 'mamma Mia' as the server finally came around.
