Eggplant parm

So happy we found Marcella while strolling around old Montréal! We wanted to stop by for a light snack/lunch. And saw this spot with open windows and very welcoming! Ordered the pollo alla Milanese and the eggplant parm. Both were delicious! While I was enjoying my pollo alla Milanese, a group saw and was asking me what it was as it looked so appetizing! Overall delicious Italian spot!

Went here while on a short visit to Montreal, we were celebrating an special occasion and the restaurant made the experience even more special. The wine suggested by our server was very balanced and the perfect pairing with our food. My favourite was the gnocchi but everything was very fresh and delicious. Italian food sometimes is overly greasy but Marcella's was perfect. As for desserts, the tiramisu was the winner and the cannoli the biggest loser. The other two were okay but not memorable. Loved the decoration and the mood of the place.

Carbonara

Excellent Italian restaurant that was a 5 minute walk from our hotel. Great service and great food. Don't walk pass this one.

Marcella is a really pretty and cute restaurant. We ordered the Tagliatelle alla pesto and the Carbonara di spaghettini. My favorite was the carbonara di spaghettini. This was my favorite from all the carbonara pastas that I've tried. The noodles were done perfectly and the carbonara was creamy and so delicious. The pesto pasta was also really good. The restaurant was pretty packed when we went during lunchtime. The servers were very helpful and I enjoyed my experience here!

Love the vibe, the lighting, and the general feel of this place. We were fortunate enough to get seated by a beautiful big window so we could people watch outside as well as inside. The menu is fantastic and they offer daily specials as well. Heads up in the specials department- they are don't come cheap. The appy Caesar salad had the best dressing ever and it came with a $20 price tag. My carbona will go down as one of my absolute favorites. The only downside is what you don't see- the mysterious prices of the unlisted specials. The appertif the server told me about filled half of a tiny glass and was $14. And the lobster "special" was $42. We were a little turned off by the end of the meal limoncello that was $14.95 for a tiny cordial glass. Again not a price we saw on the menu. But if you can swallow the prices, you will be amazed by the flavor.

Tried to walk in without a reservation had to wait for a while which was fine. Inside was gorgeous and we loved the ambiance. Place is smaller and was super loud. Pear Pressure and Spritz were great drinks and the pear pressure gets lit on fire when they deliver it to your table which was a fun detail! We started off with the arancini which was AMAZING wow! I think it's one of my favorite appetizers i've ever gotten! We also got focaccia bread which was of course amazing. For the mains we got the agnolotti cacio e pepe which was rich creamy pasta tasted fresh and cooked perfectly, great flavor and was pleased with our choice of dish. We also got the gnocchi was which just so good, the flavor was great and it was creamy. We loved our meal here and would definitely recommend it and we will be returning if we go to Montreal again! Great way to wrap up our trip!

Great food! Definitely recommend the eggplant parmigiana! The tiramisu is also a great touch to end your meal! Great service and an amazing space!

Our last night in Montreal we sort of just walked around Old Town and stumbled upon this place. Super beautiful inside, and we were able to get a spot at the bar. The Bartender, who my wife was enamored with, was extremely helpful and steered us towards a sold Orange wine, which was what we were looking for. Prices were on par, and they put our bottle on ice which was a nice treat. We didn't eat but the guy across from us ordered about 65 things and seemed to really enjoy the pasta as he ate it in 5 minutes, no judgement. Excellent people watching and scenery.

I got sick from this, who knows what the cook put there.

I'm allergic to few things and I told the waitress. The cook apparently didn't pay any attention and I am having an allergic reaction. I will not recommend that place unless you want to get sick.

Newly opened Italian restaurant in the Old Port. (For about 3 weeks) I was so excited to try this place because I love a good Italian restaurant because I'm obsessed with Italian food. Let me tell you that this place did not disappoint. Very nice place, staff was attentive and nice Our waiter Xavier was the absolute best. They were so many good stuff to get on the menu and he helped us decide to narrow it now. We started with 2 glasses of wine. They have a great list of wine and cocktails. We got the burrata as an appetizer, the burrata was very creamy. And I loved that the tomatoes were grille and the pistachios added a very nice touch to it For Mains we got the carbonara and the gnocchetti gorgonzola. It was very light woth the right ingredients The gnocchi was the best, definitely a must to get. Highly recommend if you like blue cheese. To finish of we got an espresso martini and cannolis. Both were really good. I honestly think this is a very good Italian restaurant. The place is comforting and cozy They have a very nice bar/coffee bar area. They have a wall of pictures for celebrities eating pasta which is cool. They also have a gender neutral bathroom. Although this place is not too big, this place is great for small and big group I would definitely come back to try other stuff on the menu, really wanted to try the arrancini but we didn't want to over order. I highly recommend this place, food is good, service is amazing and stuff is very nice.

Spaghetti Carbonara

Great new Italian restaurant in Old Montreal. This place has an intimate vibe and great food and service. The decor is charming and welcoming. I had the ravioli of the day, which was filled with ricotta and had a veal based mushroom sauce and arugula. The ravioli was was tender with just the right amount of filling and the sauce was very flavorful. My husband had the spaghetti carbonara which he really enjoyed for the authenticity and flavor. We ordered focaccia bread to go with our meal and it was light and tender with a quality olive oil and balsamic dipping sauce on the side. Great wine list with reasonable prices. Overall, one of the best meals of our Montreal trip.

Not much flavor and overpriced; but it was raining and we needed to find cover. I would look elsewhere.

This restaurant is different, truly impressive. One of the few times I have been left practically speechless at the table. We got Gnocchi Rose and Manicotti, both were delicious. Both sauces were incredible and the pasta was very fresh. The wait staff was very attentive and very kind consistently checking in and willing to chat. It is very tastefully decorated and had a good noise level easy for talking. While slightly on the pricier side, for 2 pasta entrees, desert, and a mixed drink it was $101(I can't recall if that was before or after tip) which I felt was very reasonable for the quality of both the food and service. The fact that there was no wait on a Saturday night, and we were the only diners at 8pm, was shocking when other restaurants in the area were booked out. I will be returning every time I visit Montreal, Trattoria Trestevere deserves a Michelin Star in my eyes.

Restaurants in Montreal with the name of an Italian region - 2 of 2…read more I had seen Restaurant Siciliana before. It is on Rue Stanley, not too far away from the Peel Metro Station. Rue Stanley always makes for a chuckle. I have known very few people with that name. However, it's the eponymous name of a (not even) B movie about someone's dangerous pet snake. I looked at the menu board at around lunch time. It seemed like a generic Italian restaurant, with a broad-based Italian menu and not one that was particularly Sicilian. But this was at lunch time, and I was walking down the street with something to do. I returned for dinner another day. Everything at Restaurant Siciliana was sort of perfunctory and ordinary. The interior is old school and has the red and white check tablecloths. The wood fired pizza oven is visible from the restaurant. They seat you quickly and I wanted to sit closer to the back and next to a wall, to which they obliged. Since I could not find a wall outlet, they were willing to charge my phone for me. I did not want a pizza. For that, I might go to dei Compari, which I very much like. I was looking for pasta. Since I couldn't see what it might look like or what others had ordered, I settled on the trio - three types of pasta. I've seen this done before at other Italian eateries and, within reason, they allow substitutions. Here, the wiggle room is not that much (that means no filled pasta or lasagna/e) and there is an upcharge for the allowed changes. I wanted to swap out a pasta with Alfredo sauce and they did so for another pasta that is also on their menu at the same price, but with a $3 upcharge (for U.S., divide by ~1.36). Is that that much of an inconvenience? Everything was ok - one in a Bolognese sauce, one in a rose' sauce, and one in a pesto sauce - except that the pesto sauce was a little oily and didn't sit with me. To drink, I had a ginger ale. I'm beginning to like that stuff. The service was good. It was also expedient, albeit a little reserved. This was a 3-star event and, going forward, I will continue to look for other Italian (and Sicilian) restaurants in the area. I would love to know of an authentic Sicilian restaurant in the agglomeration that is Montreal. The very first Italian restaurant at which I ate in Montreal was just up the street, at Stanely and Maisonneuve. Either a Chapters or a newer building went in. That restaurant was more of a diner, which explains why it wouldn't be there - close to the financial district - anymore. Change can be hard to accept. I remember that that was also the first time I had heard the term rose' sauce. This is what Eastern Canada refers to a pink tomato-cream sauce. The middle-aged dark-haired woman who helped me had to have been from the western part of Montreal or its island, spoke perfect English with mannerisms suitable for an Italian neighborhood the Northeastern U.S., and looked like Kaye Ballard. I would have preferred a restaurant like that to this one for the price-quality rapport of the food and a Rue Stanley/Financial District location. If you are a tourist and your time is metered, I might skip this one. If you are a local, you can try Restaurant Siciliana for pizzas and/or pasta and see if it suits you.

We were standing around outside wondering…read morewhere to go have dinner when the owner of this little place stuck his head out and said "come on in." With such a quirky start, we did just that. Inside this little place there are maybe a dozen tables ... mostly for two. The place was casual, unpretentious, and relatively inexpensive. Service was friendly and spot on. Now the owner who drew us in - whatever his name - does it all here. He seated us, we saw him clean off some tables, and he goes back and forth in the kitchen personally making each dish. He had only two helpers ... one doing dishes and the other helping wait the tables especially when he was fixing a plate. The meals are essentially light pasta with light sauces ... nothing much heavy here. It is meant to be a quick lunch spot, and only stays open a while after hours. The menu - posted in the front window - is written on a sheet of paper and usually is about 8 different pastas and sauces; after you sit at a table you will find that the current list is generally smaller as they have run out of stuff during the day. Be that as it may, it was pretty good food. We had the Canelloni Rossini (4 stars with a light red sauce), Penne Arrabbiata (4 stars with another very light sauce), and a Calypso Salad (4 stars with very nice greens). The big takeaway was that he can make any kind of quick pasta and put any one of his light sauces on it for a quick meal. The sauces were nice - very light but nice. The pastas could have been a bit fresher. Interestingly, they only take cash - and that is not mentioned on the front window. He does have an ATM machine inside to help you cover the cash, but he should really announce this out front, especially for all the tourists that are in Montreal. Our bill came to $70 and he wrote down $80 ... maybe he included the tip for us - don't know, but pay attention to your bill on the way out. In fairness, the prices are reasonable here - $4.95 for a glass of the house Chianti, and every one of the pasta meals were simply $9.95. Canoli were $6.00 each.

Another interesting thing here is they have an unlimited self-serve salad bar for lunch (unsure about dinner). They had kale! There were a couple of salad dressings and a variety of toppings. What was memorable was the sweet, sweet corn. Bread and butter were served at our table. I didn't expect this for lunch. #14 Spaghetti with meatballs CAD$32 - The meatballs were good, but the spaghetti was lacking. I couldn't put my finger on it, but it was just ok.
