    Tiramisu

Amazing quality pasta!! They have a limited menu but it's all pasta focused. One app, 2 pastas and 1 app was just over $100 but delish! The tiramisu was alright but the pastas were well made and the sauces were decadent and flavorful. Some of the best different pasta we ever had! Nice ambiance and service was nice enough and quick on a weekday.

It's a quaint, small place with a calming appeal, however it is bustling with a lunchtime business crowd. The food was delicious! We were drawn in by seeing (thru the front window) the chefs hand making the pasta, fresh every morning during our visit to Montreal. And lastly, I have to mention Tess, our server for being informative, friendly and talkative. She made the experience memorable for my wife and I.

At the door step of Old Port, Stellina offers the comfort of traditional Italian cuisine with a diversity and richness that permeates Montréal. The experience begins before you even step inside with Stellina's warm glow beckoning as you look from the outside in. Once inside, swipe the black drapes aside and absorb the ambiance. A friendly hostess will take your coat/jacket and the maître'D shoes you to your seat...the stage for the evening is now set. I chose the bar, and was delighted by the service, the staff's attention to detail, thorough knowledge, and excellent recommendations. The opening act was a gin-based cocktail, "La Ravigliosa" made with Chartreuse - somewhere between a "corpse reviver" and "last word" For antipasti, the endive insalata with radicchio, beurre de noisette, and crotonese was bright, slightly acidic, and cleansed the palette in preparation for one of the spécialité de la maison. The raviolo (actually three large ravioli) was stuffed with salmon and each bite absolutely melted. To accompany, a bottle of Capanna 2015 Brunello di Montalcino (DOCG) paired nicely with earthy tones, black fruits, and a mouthwatering "spine." Dolce took the shape of a somewhat deconstructed tiramisu that was just sweet enough and not too heavy. For a special finale, the sommelier introduced a grappa from Northern Italy, "Bottega Maestri." Not for the faint of palette, this robust grappa explodes with flavor (dried fruit that evolves into oaky-vanilla tones) and exudes the same warmth you see when looking into Stellina from outside. Truly, enjoyed the privilege of Stellina's beautiful food, beautiful people, attentive service, and vibrant atmosphere. A votre santé

    Tagliolini in buffalo butter sauce

BOTTOM LINE: Their freshly made pastas were certainly the highlight. Located in the touristic area that is old Montreal, this newly opened Italian fine dining restaurant is worth checking out. Their menu comprises of a small selection of appetizers, main courses, and desserts, and judging by the dated stamps, it will be a regularly rotating menu. Their offerings are also quite veggie forward and this is, perhaps, their twist on modern Italian cuisine. The interior decor is quite on trend, with an open kitchen by the entrance (where they prepare their pasta), bar seating on one side, and continuous sofa seating lining the other side. The service was impeccable, with friendly, attentive, and non-intrusive servers (i.e., they never reached across the table, water never reached below half glass, a spilled drop of wine led to an immediate replacement of a plate, etc.). Finally, they have a small but dedicated wine list that I read was sourced from a particular specialty wine importer from Italy. My DCs and I ordered the "mystery" prix fixe for $70, which was essentially the chef's choice of 6-to-7 items of their regular menu + specials of the night but portioned appropriately per person. Let's start with the "winners": TAGLIOLINI: This was perhaps the highlight in its simplicity of a buffalo butter sauce and topped with Parmesan cheese, but the freshness and flavour were quite astounding. STROZZAPRETI: Although it visually reminded me of udon noodles, the rabbit was really well done. FUNGHI SALTIMBOCCA: This dish of king oysters wrapped in prosciutto is a must-order with its various flavours and textures. Here were the "maybes": ZUCCA: If you like squash, this was well done, but I'm not sure I would order it again. PORTERHOUSE STEAK: This was one of their specials for the night, and although it was tender and done medium rare, I think our table might've preferred to try another pasta dish that was more meat forward instead; after all, when in Rome... And here were the "nahs": BARABIETOLA: This beet dish didn't feel special from most beet dishes you can order, and the pistachio flavours were really quite absent. CRUDO DE TUNNO: While I applaud a non-traditional approach to tuna crudo in a tomato sauce and bean puree, I'm just not sure it worked for me. All in all, my group very much enjoyed our meal here. The pacing of how quickly and how many dishes came out could probably be improved, but these are minor gripes for a restaurant less than 2-weeks old. In this regard, we were all impressed by the service given our understanding of how challenging it can be hiring experienced staff during pandemic, and the kitchen certainly showed how capable they are.

I think this place is one of the best Italian places I've been in MTL and I've been to alot This place is always full, so we have to reserve weeks in advance We decided to seat at the kitchen area and I loved that there pasta was freshly made and loved seeing the ppl cook the food. You can also see the owner cooking. The place is very clean and nicely decorated, I loved the bar area aswell. The food was so good, we got the burrata and the octopus to share and the flavours were amazing and it was different then other restaurants which I loved We also got 2 different pastas to try and the oxtail agnolotti was divine the oxtail inside was so tender and the pasta being fresh made everything so good We shared a panna cotta and the torta de limone and they were both good, not too heavy to finish our meals The drinks were good aswell. Service was very good, the waiter was really nice and friendly. Definitely a must try in the old port but reserve in advance.

High expectation as a foodie friend highly recommended this place. Restaurant is modern and service is attentive. Not too loud if you go early evening but did get pretty crowded towards 8:30pm. We were maybe 2-3 tables at the beginning of the night and it did take a long time for the plates to come. Pricing is in the higher end and the plates are quite small. None of the plates were memorable...as a matter of fact, the spaghetti allé vongole was very salty! The steak florentine came highly recommended by my foodie friend, but unfortunately it was a disappointment. Asked for medium rare and it came closer to medium than medium rare, also lacked seasoning. Not the worse Italian restaurant but definitely not the best I have been for the higher price point. I would say that you can skip this place with no regret.

Restaurants in Montreal with the name of an Italian region - 2 of 2…read more I had seen Restaurant Siciliana before. It is on Rue Stanley, not too far away from the Peel Metro Station. Rue Stanley always makes for a chuckle. I have known very few people with that name. However, it's the eponymous name of a (not even) B movie about someone's dangerous pet snake. I looked at the menu board at around lunch time. It seemed like a generic Italian restaurant, with a broad-based Italian menu and not one that was particularly Sicilian. But this was at lunch time, and I was walking down the street with something to do. I returned for dinner another day. Everything at Restaurant Siciliana was sort of perfunctory and ordinary. The interior is old school and has the red and white check tablecloths. The wood fired pizza oven is visible from the restaurant. They seat you quickly and I wanted to sit closer to the back and next to a wall, to which they obliged. Since I could not find a wall outlet, they were willing to charge my phone for me. I did not want a pizza. For that, I might go to dei Compari, which I very much like. I was looking for pasta. Since I couldn't see what it might look like or what others had ordered, I settled on the trio - three types of pasta. I've seen this done before at other Italian eateries and, within reason, they allow substitutions. Here, the wiggle room is not that much (that means no filled pasta or lasagna/e) and there is an upcharge for the allowed changes. I wanted to swap out a pasta with Alfredo sauce and they did so for another pasta that is also on their menu at the same price, but with a $3 upcharge (for U.S., divide by ~1.36). Is that that much of an inconvenience? Everything was ok - one in a Bolognese sauce, one in a rose' sauce, and one in a pesto sauce - except that the pesto sauce was a little oily and didn't sit with me. To drink, I had a ginger ale. I'm beginning to like that stuff. The service was good. It was also expedient, albeit a little reserved. This was a 3-star event and, going forward, I will continue to look for other Italian (and Sicilian) restaurants in the area. I would love to know of an authentic Sicilian restaurant in the agglomeration that is Montreal. The very first Italian restaurant at which I ate in Montreal was just up the street, at Stanely and Maisonneuve. Either a Chapters or a newer building went in. That restaurant was more of a diner, which explains why it wouldn't be there - close to the financial district - anymore. Change can be hard to accept. I remember that that was also the first time I had heard the term rose' sauce. This is what Eastern Canada refers to a pink tomato-cream sauce. The middle-aged dark-haired woman who helped me had to have been from the western part of Montreal or its island, spoke perfect English with mannerisms suitable for an Italian neighborhood the Northeastern U.S., and looked like Kaye Ballard. I would have preferred a restaurant like that to this one for the price-quality rapport of the food and a Rue Stanley/Financial District location. If you are a tourist and your time is metered, I might skip this one. If you are a local, you can try Restaurant Siciliana for pizzas and/or pasta and see if it suits you.

Restaurant Siciliana - Since, like French, Italian is gendered, Trattoria Siciliana would be correct but I'm not so sure about Restaurant Siciliana.

Inside this little place there are maybe a dozen tables ... mostly for two. The place was casual, unpretentious, and relatively inexpensive. Service was friendly and spot on. Now the owner who drew us in - whatever his name - does it all here. He seated us, we saw him clean off some tables, and he goes back and forth in the kitchen personally making each dish. He had only two helpers ... one doing dishes and the other helping wait the tables especially when he was fixing a plate. The meals are essentially light pasta with light sauces ... nothing much heavy here. It is meant to be a quick lunch spot, and only stays open a while after hours. The menu - posted in the front window - is written on a sheet of paper and usually is about 8 different pastas and sauces; after you sit at a table you will find that the current list is generally smaller as they have run out of stuff during the day. Be that as it may, it was pretty good food. We had the Canelloni Rossini (4 stars with a light red sauce), Penne Arrabbiata (4 stars with another very light sauce), and a Calypso Salad (4 stars with very nice greens). The big takeaway was that he can make any kind of quick pasta and put any one of his light sauces on it for a quick meal. The sauces were nice - very light but nice. The pastas could have been a bit fresher. Interestingly, they only take cash - and that is not mentioned on the front window. He does have an ATM machine inside to help you cover the cash, but he should really announce this out front, especially for all the tourists that are in Montreal. Our bill came to $70 and he wrote down $80 ... maybe he included the tip for us - don't know, but pay attention to your bill on the way out. In fairness, the prices are reasonable here - $4.95 for a glass of the house Chianti, and every one of the pasta meals were simply $9.95. Canoli were $6.00 each.
