The owners talked us through their menu. I got a birthday cake scone which had white chocolate chips inside and sprinkles. It was delicious warmed up. Their house coffee was so good. The coffee beans are roasted in Brooklyn and are from SweetLeaf Coffee Roasters. (This is actually the best coffee I've had and I'm pretty sad it's so far from home) My friend got a curry chicken patty with coco bread and I had a bite...then got 3 patties to go and another scone. They have a lot of books to choose from that are in perfect condition and are very neatly shelved. The ambiance was warm and welcoming. They have blind date with a book, stationery, lots of plants, natural light, and free wifi. The stairs outside have a hand painted bookshelf on it. And no, there was no cilantro that registered like soap. This straight up tasted like a mushy soap bomb. We waited a really long time for our food. Our waitress disappeared without saying anything and another person asked us if we wanted our check when we still hadn't gotten our main entrees. After a while, we got our food. My black bean burger was just ok. But they didn't prepare it like I requested. I ordered the blackened blue burger with a black bean patty. I believe it was $14 and was supposed to come blackened with Cajun seasoning and a vegan blue cheese and I skipped the bacon. I was asked if I wanted to vegan bun and said sure. When the bill came, my $14 burger was $21.50. I was charged for a custom burger and every single thing was an upgrade on top of it. Nothing about that burger was worth $21.50. It was barely worth $14. I was so upset that none of this was communicated to me. I've had worse food, which is why it's 2 starts instead of 1. But if I'm ever in this area again, I'll never come back.
