Randy and his team did ok jobs but charged expensively and lacked of communication at the beginning. Randy divided our project into two stages and charged separately. That is fine if he told us in advance. However, he did not. He only quoted the price for the first stage and made it looked like the price for the whole project. Then in the middle of the project, he surprised us for additional charge of the 2nd stage. Due to the time limit, We could not find anyone else to take over the leftover and thus was forced to pay whatever he asked for the second stage. I called them to see what he would charge to come to my house and install a GFCI breaker in the sub panel as when we installed it, it would not work, keep in mind this call was on a Sunday afternoon and Randy answered on the third ring another thing is I have never done business with them. I called Randy to fix a few outlets and a light on the deck that was not working. Randy tried for a few hours to fix and came up with some suggestions that involved extensive repair work like wall breaking etc. Initially he took approx. $200 for the 2 hours he spent and said he would need to return to fix everything. Next day, I called up another electrician and he came and fixed the problem in 5 min by going to the breaker panel. In fact, undoing what Randy did cost me more than actually fixing the problem itself. Typically for this I would have given 0 to 1 star. Randy explained what would work best for him: I buy the lights, and he can come install everything in one day. But I had no idea what to buy. Randy also helped walk me through this info. After setting a time and date with Randy, we finally got our lights installed! Randy and his assistant were punctual and thorough in scoping out the project before they got started. Randy was clear about what he would and wouldn't do: install lights and dimmer switch - yes; patch up wall - yes; repaint patched wall - no. Before I left, I saw them laying down drop cloths over our furniture and floors, which was super thoughtful! I had another team in the house installing floors and seeing Randy's attention to detail made me feel sad that the flooring installers had left sawdust on every solid surface in the home without any warning. :( Randy called my husband mid-project when they realized that support beams were blocking the original light locations we had discussed. T'was a cold December eve. I opted to run my space heater on high, as the usual low setting was just not cutting it on this particularly chilly night. I was chillin' out max and relaxin' all cool in my bedroom (as per usual) when suddenly I heard a soft, crackling noise behind me. I turned to see a small puff of smoke emanating from the light switch just above the outlet where my space heater was plugged. I instinctively unplugged my heater as my life flashed before my eyes. Okay, maybe not that last part, but still... smoke is no joke! The next morning, I called Randy from Mopia Electric. I informed him of my issue and inquired about a same-day appointment. Unfortunately for me, he was already booked for the day. However, he had a 30-minute gap before his next appointment, and since he was located just a couple miles from my condo, he asked to stop by to assess the situation and make sure it was safe--all at no cost to me. I was impressed by the fact that he prioritized my safety over my business, and for that reason, I decided to go with his company for the repair. It turns out that the insulation of the wiring of the light switch had melted. Randy deduced that the combination of that 1500-watt space heater and my girlfriend's hairdryer was too much for the same 15 amp circuit, and it likely melted the insulation over time (but for some reason didn't trip the breaker). He assured me that the situation was safe so long as I didn't use any of the outlets on that circuit, but I would eventually need to have that wiring fixed. Since he estimated that the repair wouldn't take up a whole hour, I tacked on a couple minor electrical jobs that I had been putting off (replacing 2 dimmer switches, repairing another non-functioning switch). He gave me very reasonably price quote for the work, and we scheduled an appointment for the next week. Randy and his assistant (I forget his name) promptly arrived at the agreed time. Upon entering, Randy noticed all the shoes around my doorway, and immediately instructed his assistant to remove his shoes, which I appreciated. All in all, the job (4 tasks in total) took around 50 minutes, and all the switches and outlets that they serviced now work as expected. Randy was very professional throughout the ordeal, and overall, he just seems like a friendly and cool guy. I would definitely recommend him for any electrical work. Note: It says on Yelp that they accept credit cards, but Randy asked that I pay in cash. Luckily, I happened to have some on me that day. read more

Have been living at my current resident for more than 10 years, and never had any problems except circuit breaking pop and reset. This time the electricity wasn't working, and Mopia guys found a potential fire hazard that whoever install this outlet upstairs was a Moran. I just bought a house in CV and would like to install 2 ceiling fan with light in my family room. The house is grandfathered and the wire is old so I certainly want this to be done by capable hands. I look at Yelp and find Randy. I called Randy, and he dropped by in 30 minutes to give me detailed explanation on what need to be done and a reasonable estimation. As I need the job to be done asap, he managed to squeeze a day in the same week to help me work out. Arrived on time, Randy started working immediately. It is really not a very easy job as the wire in my 1947 house is following old standard and using old material, it is lucky that Randy pretty familiar with this kind of house (In CV there are lots of old houses like this) and know how to deal with it in a safely manner. It is not an easy job to install those two ceiling fan/light, though. It takes quite a while for Randy to install them. I am quite happy that I hired him rather than try to do that by myself, which is predictable a disaster. Randy showed his professionalism during the his work. i.e., he does not answer one single phone call, keep the job site tidy, pay lots of attentions to our new wood floor. Randy was an absolute pleasure to work with. We had him replace three outlets with a new dedicated line servicing our kitchen. In the process, he discovered that there was a hidden breaker in our garage that fed two of our wall outlets in our living room that had not been working for like 10 years.
