I spoke with two different receptionists, and while both maintained a professional tone, I felt that their communication came across as dismissive, cold, and unnecessarily rude. I was simply trying to ask questions and understand my options for dental care without insurance, including pricing and what services I would need. Instead of feeling helped or welcomed, I left both conversations feeling irritated because of their negative undertones upon asking them questions to clarify my different options. I understand that offices have policies and that dental care can be expensive, but there is still a way to communicate those policies respectfully. Being professional is more than simply using a polite tone--it is also about making patients feel heard and respected. Because I have been a patient there before, I expected a better experience. Unfortunately, the way my questions were handled has made me reconsider returning, and I will likely look into other dental offices that are more welcoming to patients who are paying out of pocket.

But they did not inform me that all of that would not be covered by insurance. It would have been easy to tell me that I needed the preventative x-rays in early 2026 when insurance would have covered the cost. Beware of this dentist, they focus on money to the exclusion of the patient. They recommend crowns and additional procedures that are borderline required.

My brother had his wisdom teeth removed. The surgery went smooth and his recovery was very fast with no complications. He is a little old to be having his wisdom teeth removed so Dr. Lucas had his work cut out for him but did an amazing job. After that great experience we also had Dr. Lucas remove some teeth my grandmother was having trouble with. Her regular dentist wanted her to keep 2 out of the 3 teeth but Dr. Lucas made the decision to remove them all and we are so happy with that. I believe keeping those 2 teeth would of caused her more problems and cost her more money in the future. All the staff at the office is very helpful, nice and welcoming. The billing is great and any questions you may have are answered quickly and accurately. Thank you so much to everyone in the office for the care and compassion shown to my family!

Then they told me they had her back in the chair, but couldn't do the work until payment was made. Not very friendly and seemed irritated that they had to call for the payment. So they do want the payment right then and there, prior to work being done. I found that unusual. I called back to see how things had gone (since she is elderly)and the girl said "it went ok. Your mother came in here with her driver who had her instructions." I already knew that part! They seemed annoyed with us. Not that friendly on the phone, but they do get the work done.

I've visited my fair share of dental offices. Dr. Phuoc Tran's West Chester Family Dentistry office…read moreblow everyone else out of the water. Firstly, the building is owned by Dr. Tran himself. Thus, the entire area is kept clean and pristine. The waiting room has a giant aquarium which takes up about half of the wall. It's a salt water tank with many fishes that'll remind you of Finding Nemo! (His kids had a hand in picking these out). Also, there's plenty of refreshments available to you on arrival. My personal favorite is to monopolize the keurig machine and snag a mocha flavored k-cup. The receptionists here are warm and happy. Always energetic, they seem genuinely interested in engaging in conversation. The dental hygienists are equally as fun, making a dreaded visit to the dentist not so bad. The chairs and TV themselves are new and up-to-date. I could easily fall asleep in one of those things while staring at the tv directly above me. Quite pleasant. Dr. Tran is amazing. He's very approachable and amiable. He's always engaged in his patients and is getting life updates. Note: if you want to get him riled up, challenge him to a table tennis match!
